    Helston Holiday Cottages

Helston is a beautiful and historic market town deep in the heart of West Cornwall, that acts as the gateway to the gorgeous Lizard Peninsula. It's rich history makes it the ideal holiday destination, particularly during the annual Flora Day, a world famous celebration with pagan roots. Helston's fascinating medieval architecture and traditions are the perfect base from which to discover Cornwall's glorious sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and coastal hikes.

Here at Snaptrip, we have thousands of cottages in Cornwall, each one hand-picked for their charm, character and location. Large groups will have their pick of the best barn conversions and family-friendly farmhouses with huge open-plan living areas. We also have dog-friendly holiday homes with enclosed gardens and access to excellent walks, and romantic cabins with hot tubs that are perfect for an evening under the Cornish skies.

Whether you need pet-friendly play areas or panoramic sea views, our customer service team will find you the ideal South Coast home. Stay in the heart of Helston, walking distance from a brunch spot or a cosy pub, or look at beach-side cottages further afield. And the area has attractions to suit all kinds of groups; kids will love a day out at the Flambard Theme Park, while the National Trust's Penrose Estate offers gorgeous walks through woodland and across windswept beaches.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Harriet - Verified booking

Spacious, well designed house with nice decor.

Very much enjoyed staying there. Beds were good, especially in the bedroom at the front - the mattress was excellent. Liked that it was very quiet at night. Full size fridge freezer. Good quality TV. Plenty of space for parking for 2 cars. The property was clean, but the kitchen could have done with a bit more care on the work surfaces, cupboard shelves and some crockery. Bathroom was good but the shower temperature fluctuated and the holder for the hand held part is broken. Suggestions for improvement are better curtains in front bedroom as they let in way too much light, and put in an extractor fan in the kitchen (not just filter fan) to properly vent out cooking/washing up steam. Didn't use the dishwasher as there were not enough place settings to make it worthwhile. Liked the deep draining board to keep down the splashes. A second key would also be very helpful - it was kind of the owner to respond quickly to my text asking about a spare key, but it was a bit inconvenient only having 1 key between us.

Apple Tree Cottage was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean - the perfect hideaway from the world, which was just what we were looking for.

The hot tub was private and added a touch of luxury. The garden was lovely, the apple tree beautiful. The bed was enormous and so comfy, the bedding and soft furnishings were excellent quality. The kitchen was the perfect cosy cottage kitchen, with the range and the round table. All the fixtures and fittings were high quality. The village of Gweek is lovely, and the local shop is a real hub and has everything you could need, with friendly staff. Our top local visits were Mullion Cove, a circular walk from gorgeous Helford to Dennis Head and Frenchman’s Creek, St Michael’s Mount and Minack Theatre. And we absolutely recommend the pasties and sausage rolls from nearby Gear Farm - best ever!! We loved every minute of our autumn break in the rugged Cornish countryside of the Lizard Peninsula and hope to be back one day. Thank you to the owners of Apple Tree Cottage for a wonderful stay.

We have been to Cornwall many times but Wide Horizons was cleaner than any cottage before.

The cottage is equiped with everything you need. There is nothing missing. The beds are very comfortable. A lovely conservatory to sit in comfortably after a walk. There is plenty of seating in the garden when the weather is nice. It is a wonderful place to start for hikes. We can highly recommend the cottage in a very quiet location. There was building work going on the first days when we arrived, but we were hiking during the day and then able to pull back into the driveway in the evening. So we were able to avoid the noise. The weather was fortunately very nice to go on excursions. Strolling through the beautiful town of Coverack in the evening was wonderful. We would love to book the cottage again if we want to holiday in the area.

A beautiful little gem of a property to stay in Porthleven, Cornwall, with stunning views across the harbour.

Ideal location to use as a base to explore, with a must visit to the Twisted Currant, especially for their cream teas and The Deli, especially for their pizzas. Exceptionally clean, very warm, with underfloor heating and preset heating. Would have been nice to have had some instructions to be able to adjust the temperature as it did feel slightly chilly on occasions. Also, no instruction to utilise the Quooker, however didn't prove to be too much of a problem. Wonderfully comfortable bed and beautiful bedding in the main bedroom and some super decorative touches. Settees in the living room were not designed to spend too long a period of time on as felt a little hard on the back. All in all, a lovely place to stay.

    • Mr Weeks - Verified booking

My wife and I, plus small dog, had a wonderful and relaxing stay here for the week. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with a lovely welcome cream-tea pack, as well a surprise beautiful vase of flowers! Very close to the beach and all that Porthleven has to offer, as well as the ability to sit and listen to the sea. Handy to be able to park on the road right outside for the week with a well equipped kitchen that allowed you to cook most things without having to go out and eat if you didn’t want to. The cottage was very warm, especially with some starter logs supplied for the fire! We didn’t have the best of weathers, but it didn’t stop us enjoying our stay. We will visit again. Thank you.
