Off street parking was a real boon.

Very spacious accommodation with a great garden. Had a plumbing issue, due to previous, inconsiderate guests washing beach sand down the bath plughole and causing a blockage. Sorted very quickly by the owners and a plumber, although we wasted a morning waiting in for him to clear the problem. Wherever you're staying, please don't swill sand down a plughole...it doesn't go anywhere and creates problems. All furnishings very comfortable, although the double bed felt slightly narrower than a normal double - it may also be that I'm accustomed to a king-sized bed, so I might be wide of the mark.. One minute walk to Harlech High St, less than five minutes walk to Harlech Castle. The time we spent there was mostly in the enormous kitchen/conservatory, which has more furniture than the average house, along with Velux windows in the roof (electrically operated) and a view over the rooftops of Harlech to the Llyn Peninsula. The kitchen is also very well-equipped, including a dishwasher, washing machine and a tumble dryer, although you'll need to take your own detergents, etcetera...a great trade-off when you can go home with barely any dirty laundry. Probably the best TV in any holiday let we've been in. Large and with a live Netflix account, so plenty of viewing choice for those days when you don't fancy braving the Welsh rain. Recommended.

Communication with Celia was great before and during our stay.

As there was no one in before our arrival she allowed us to enter the bungalow early which was a bonus. On arrival we were greeted with a clean house and a lovely welcome package including Bara Brith and milk for a cuppa after a long journey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Clyd Fan in May 2021. It is well appointed with everything you need for a lovely break and has that home from home feel. The conservatory is great to rest and unwind in as is the garden. There is the relaxing sound of bird song and although you are close to the centre of Harlech you feel as though you are remote. The property has a great sized lounge with Netflix and a new king size bed which was very comfortable It’s location is great, close to a fish and chip shop and a Chinese takeaway, a minutes walk for a great view of the stunning castle and coastline. The property is literally a couple of minutes walk to the castle and a 15 minute stroll to the coast, maybe quicker if you walk down the world's steepest street. The property is in a great location to explore Snowdonia and all it has to offer. We would definitely stay at Clyd Fan if we were to return to Harlech.

Saw it had a welsh name, Bwthin y mor, disappointed it had been changed to an English name, why!

. It was decorated according to the welsh name. Tv wouldnt work so had to call ownwer who came immediately to show us how it worked. From him, we discovered that there was no BBC channels, and that there was a firestick so there were lots of other things. We had no idea about a firestick, everything we tried to watch seemed to need a sky card or a prime account so we were stuck with the freesat minus BBC programmes. In the summer this would not be a problem, in the winter it was. There should be info on how to use these things as well. We didn't know how to use the microwave/oven and avoided using it, again no instructions. Seating was uncomfortable, small and slouchy whereas I need something that would support my back. (bed was also uncomfortable but this is a personal preference). No instructions on recycling so we guessed at what went where. No bin in the kitchen. Shower has mould growing and is very poor. Took ages to get soap from my hair as the shower wasnt powerful enough. Bathroom generally needs some modernisation

Happy Landings is a really lovely cottage and the views are simply sensational and to be so enjoyed whilst sitting in the front conservatory!

Unfortunately in the UK the one thing you cannot plan for is the weather and sadly for us we endured the tail end of hurricane Ali for 2 days and nights and then torrential rain on a third day! BUT, despite the really scary gale force winds and torrential rain coming straight at us from the sea / Cardigan Bay, we felt really safe, warm and cosy in the cottage and returned home feeling rested and relaxed. On the good weather days we loved wandering around the little shops in Harlech town and journeying to shop in Porthmadog and Barmouth, thoroughly enjoying the drive to both places as the stunning coastal views are simply awesome! Our most favourite place was Llandanwg beach - really close to Happy Landings - and the first beach that our little dog Bonnie had ever been on. The Harlech area was new to us but we enjoyed a really lovely break and plan to return to this area as it is just so lovely.

The flat is bright, clean and spacious.

It was also warm and draughtproof while Storm Darragh was raging across the Welsh coast. I notice that some guests have complained about a smell of drains. Clearly the cleaners had taken this to heart, as the shower room had been vigorously bleached prior to our arrival. We had no problems at all with any smell of drains during our stay. It is worth noting that this particular flat is at the back of the building and therefore does not have a view of the castle. Small issues: the mechanism of one of the blinds in the bedroom was faulty. We ended up leaving it down! And the freezer compartment in the fridge is solidly iced up (I see this problem has been mentioned before). It really needs to be switched off and defrosted completely between lets. Hint to owners: if a broom/mop/hoover had been provided we would have been happy to use these before we left!
