What our customers say about their holidays

    • Helen - Verified booking

We really enjoyed our stay here.

We arrived a bit early, so we could find the location in the daylight as we thought it might be a bit tricky to locate (it was) and it was just about to be cleaned so we went off to explore. The property is very nice, clean, modern and with tasteful good quality furnishings. Downstairs is more spacious than expected. It has everything you can possibly need. The little courtyard is really cute but as it was January we didn’t get to enjoy it. Had the best sleep we have had in ages, comfy beds (a bit soft to our preference but still ok) and it was soooo quiet. Being January it was very cold but heating in the property was great, and we were very cosy. We parked in front of the bungalow as instructed, it’s a bit of a tight squeeze getting past the houses in Henbont Rd if you’ve got a large car. Criccieth is lovely, we went to the little cafe Tir a Mor by the level crossing which was very nice (it was closed after that at the start of the week which was disappointing as we would have gone back). Also wanted a Chinese takeaway on our final night but it was closed due to Chinese New Year so we got a kebab & burger from the shop on the High St instead which was awful. We also ate at Dylan’s which was OK. Would thoroughly recommend this property!

The booking was organised in an extremely efficient way, pre-holiday queries were addressed politely and helpfully and our self inflicted crisis on a dark and cold Sunday evening was managed so kindly and calmly.

I can’t quite believe that there was such an impressive helpline available to us out of office hours. Every single aspect of Menai holidays assistance has been exemplary throughout our holiday for which we are so very grateful. The apartment was very well decorated and organised with so many helpful additions that made the holiday enjoyable. It was cosy, clean and tidy with very friendly neighbours around who were happy to chat to us as visitors. The way the outside space was designed was ideal for us to feel secure and private, and we felt very spoiled with auto lighting... we have serious courtyard envy now and since being home, am slightly confused when lights don’t come on immediately as we enter!! The town was delightful; we found open and friendly people and great service in cafes shops and restaurants in the most beautiful setting with both coastal and beach walks for dogs.

      Had a fantastic stay.

Really close to the sea and the views are fantastic. Brilliant coastal walks in both directions. Great for dog walking and lots of dog friendly cafès in the town. The house itself was perfect and had everything we needed. There's a well enclosed (although small) courtyard at the back of the kitchen which was perfect for the dog. If, like mine, your dog is likely to try and escape, this is very secure and there's no way out. The house is very modern and clean. The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels provided were great. I wouldn't think twice about booking again. I've booked many holiday cottages through Sykes and this is up there with the best considering value for money, location and the quality of the accomodation. I would say parking is the only downside as there isn't parking at the property itself, but there's plenty of parking nearby.

The cottage is well situated and modern.

It's ideally located - within easy reach of most of North Wales's attractions (by car). It is advertised as for 5 people - which technically it can accommodate - but would be a squeeze for 5 adults. The second bedroom is more appropriate for 3 children. We had a mild concern about cleanliness. The bed in the second bedroom had a couple of long hairs in there... We didn't use the washing machine as there was some sort of black sludge in the conditioner compartment (we subsequently washed by hand and only used the washing machine as a dryer). Beyond that, it is a delightful cottage, well maintained (apart from the washing machine). A large lounge and a good sized kitchen. Plenty of parking nearby.

    • Natalie - Verified booking

We have stayed previously at the little bakehouse when it first opened, at that time we found the beds to be very uncomfortable, we were pleased to see the beds had changed and a lot more comfortable.

I feel the house needs some TLC, the house was surface clean but we all felt it needed a ‘deep clean’ and generally some tidying up of things. Utensils such as glassware were limited, 3 champagne flutes and no matching water glasses. We found the sofas to be really uncomfortable and felt footstools may make it more comfortable. We also thought the house would benefit from a coffee table, we have young children and they wanted to play with there Lego and be in the lounge with us. We had to contact the owners while we were there, they answered straight away and were really helpful. Overall, it is good value for money compared to other properties we have stayed at before in criccieth.
