The cottage was lovely. The kitchen was cozy and had all the appliances we needed alongside a table that was plenty big enough for the 2 of us but you could comfortably fit 4 there. We did not use the utility room due to a leak they informed us about before we were there (being fixed!!) but it had a washing machine ironing board and hoover, etc. The living room was spacious with two comfy couches, a coffee table that we managed to fit our (massive) board games on, and a TV with freeview. They explained everything (local area, what to do with the bins and washing, etc) in a handbook which was a nice touch. Upstairs there was a small bedroom with a single bed, we did not use this as there was only the two of us but it would be fitting for a child, probably a bit small for an adult. Was a nice bedroom though with wardrobe space. The main bedroom was very comfortable and spacious, the bed itself was a perfect size. Wardrobe space was the same as the small bedroom so possibly could have been bigger but there was also a dresser so there was enough room for all our belongings on a 5 night visit. The bathroom was massive and gorgeous- the only fault would be the baths drain was not working properly. We managed to get it to work well enough for it to not bother us too much. The heating in the property was a small issue as the old gas fire (seemed unkept so we didn’t bother after a while) was difficult to work and the central heating turns itself off after an hour and a half (manually turn it back on every time). I do understand this is for health and safety and appreciate that but it is very cold, bring blankets and hoodies. Both bedrooms had lovely views of the mountains and town. Outside was lovely- it is a shame about the weather as we would have loved to sit out there! Beautiful views and the parking is fine for 1 small/medium size car (although pebbled and a pain to parallel/reverse park into). The location is stunning and the town is nice enough, couple takeaways and pubs, tesco express and a londis. Locals seemed lovely, alongside the owners. Overall beautiful experience thank you, we would love to come back!

We have previously stayed at this property and have already booked for next June - so that in itself speaks volumes!

This is a very old cottage - previously the post office! It has magnificent views of the Straits from all of the windows at the back of the house! It is on the main road from Menai to Beaumaris so you do get road noise but to be honest an extra glass of wine at night and one’s sleeps through without hearing it too much! There are a couple of stairs in the property but my 94 year old father managed them easily! The small terraced area is seperate to the house - you have to go out of the front door and walk less than 10 yards to the gate and there are approximately 10 steep steps down to it! I sat out there every morning with my dog and a brew watching the heron get its morning feed on the waters edge! Yes there is a build up of algae but come on guys - what do you expect … it’s on the straits and is a welcome addition to the facilities! We had a couple of barbecues on it last year - granted the steps are steep so be cautious! It does not have direct access to the waters edge/beach… but a short 5 minute walk to the Gazelle and you can skim as many stones as you want and have a pint - sounds perfect to me! The property does require a few things doing to it and it would benefit from the carpet being replaced in the lounge (or replaced with a decent solid wooden flooring) but look this is one of the few properties where you can take your dog and you step straight into the house from the road side so yes there are a few marks but this does not take away from the comfort and serenity of this place! The bath in the main bedroom is out of this world! There is a property underneath the cottage but you do not hear anything and occasionally you may see their delightful Jack Russell running around like a mad thing! It’s a dogs life afterall !! All in all - I accept that some work is required but we love it and would recommend it all day long …

Snook’s Cottage Musty/dank smell throughout property especially in bedroom and inside kitchen cupboards.

Dusty throughout and especially dirty in corners. Cobwebs. Needs a good deep clean / vacuum. No vacuum available to do that. Dirty under furniture, under the bed, under the couch, on the clothes rail that was under the bed. Clumps of hair and dirt. Fireplace in lounge hadn’t been cleaned. Bedroom Musty especially around Fireplace. Bedroom drawer inserts sagging. No wardrobe, just a clothes rail. Skylight above bed - no black out so we were awake at 6.30am. Lounge area Fleece on couch still had dog hair over it. Wifi good and Netflix / smart tv mostly working well. A few times we had to wait a few seconds for buffering. Bathroom No bath mat Bathroom tap should be a mixer as hot water for hot tap is too hot. No toilet roll holder. Kitchen No freezer space for food. Tap a little too short overhanging sink making washing dishes awkward. No egg cups No coffee making facilities. Random Glasses and crockery could have done with a good dishwash. Again musty smelling. Teapot badly stained. Musty smell from all kitchen cupboards. Cupboard above cooker / hob steam damaged and beginning to sag. Electrical socket directly above the hob. This doesn’t conform to H&S recommendations. Cupboard under sink - evidence of mice. They are through our plastic containers of dog food. No recycling. And told not to recycle for the private bin collection. This is archaic. Outside Bench outside - damaged/broken. Outside table uncared for / damp, rotting. Uncleanable so couldn’t use it for eating food. Outbuildings in garden crumbling / piles of slates. Not appealing and in dangerous for children. Overall All a bit tired, unloved, unkempt and uncared for. A real shame for a cottage with such potential. This cottage could be beautiful.

      Superb property!

I will certainly recommend Glan Dwr Bach for the views and the quality of accommodation, these were excellent. Please mention to owners the dripping tap in kitchen - not a problem for us, at all, but I’m sure someone will complain. I’ve used Menai Holidays for years and never had a problem, they have always exceeded my expectations. This time I am far from happy that I had spotted GDB was not shaded out on the booking website, the week before we were travelling. This was resolved, eventually. I was told it had not been shaded out due to joining up with Sykes! There was absolutely not need for me to have been put in a stressful situation, the week before travel, and there still has been no formal apology. It was merely brushed off with ‘at least the property is free’. YES it should be free for me and my family as I booked and paid for it months ago. I do feel the latter should be shared with Menai Holidays themselves, as I say after years of no difficulties I feel that this blip, having merged with Sykes, and the response given is far from acceptable for such a previously professional business. I have paid a lot of money for a gorgeous property and expect a much better standard of ‘voice to voice’ customer service and a formal apology for such a basic confusion. Luckily for Skye’s and Menai Holiday GDB was not double booked!

We enjoyed our stay at snooks cottage.

It was a lovely traditional Welsh cottage with some original features we we loved. Such as the open fires and tiles flooring open stone work on the walls. The beds were warm and comfy with the addition of the electric blankets which were fab! The fire in the bedroom was just so snug. Our dogs loved it. The garden was perfect for our two pugs although it’s not properly enclosed this wasn’t to much of an issue for our dogs. The only issue I really had , was the parking which was a bit tricky - just because the neighbours cars park so close to the top of the lane that’s it’s hard to reverse down or out. But we did so alls well that ends well! The location was great easy to access other areas in wales , we visited the slate mining village and had a great walk around the most stunning lake there! The views are outstanding and we loved the little gift shops. The ladies who worked there were friendly and helpful. Lastly a big thank you to Karen who kindly went out of her way to find our teddy which we forgot - Karen emailed me to let me know he was found and emailed again to let me know he had been posted safely back to us. If you like charm and original character properties with open fires then this is Perfect for you. Also the addition of fuel provided enough for our stay was most welcome.
