"We had a lovely family holiday here this last week. The property is in a lovely location - just a five minute walk to the beach the beach is beautiful and we spent some lovely afternoons paddling and walking with our little girl and dogs. Harlech itself is up a very steep hill, but once you've conquered that there are some lovely little cafes, icecream shop, picnic sites, and of course the castle. There are lots of wonderful places to explore nearby too. The only feedback on the property would be that some things do need an update. The kettle needs replacing (only works when you hold the switch down), some of the bedding was very bobbled and would expect better in such accommodation. The downstairs double bedroom also had a rather unpleasant smell when the door was left shut, but with the door open this was fine - but possibly needs a little look at. The property was really well equipped with everything we needed to cook, clean, bake, and relax for the week. The climbing frame in the garden went down really well with our little girl. and all the space was loved by our dogs. All in all, a fabulous week, we would definitely return (just with a new kettle and sheets!!)"

"This is a great base for people who enjoy simplicity. The cottage is relatively small as you would expect for an old, rural Welsh cottage, but as the children spent all spare time playing in the many secret spots in the garden, it was perfectly adequate. We spent every evening eating outside under the distant mountains. I walked the dog every morning on the hill directly out of the back garden gate, and never tired of the stunning views of Portmerion and Harlech castle. There are all the amenities you need in Porthmadog, 20 minutes in the car, or prefect tranquillity if you'd rather it, at the cottage. There's no tumble drier, but the heated towel rail and sitting cupboard meant we could dry clothes when the weather was too changeable to use the clothes line. We had a brilliant week exploring Snowdonia, biking in Cody Brennin, beaches at Borth y gest , Criccieth, and Blackrock sands, crabbing at Porthmadog, taking the train from Talarnau request stop station to Barmouth for fish and chips. If you love the outdoors, this place is an absolute gem."

"Overall a great base for exploring the area with a 3 year old. The facilities included everything we needed and the WiFi was surprisingly good for a rural location. Kitchen was modern and well stocked with equipment, and little touches like the selection of OS maps were much appreciated. The garden was a real hit with our 3 year old - hours spent hunting for ants, picking daisies etc. Two minor points - 1. We thought there was going to be a swing in the garden but it is no longer there. And 2. the upstairs rooms get rather hot as the heat in the day from the living area rises through the open plan design. The rooms are difficult to ventilate at night as the only windows are skylights which can’t be used if it’s raining or forecast to rain. Hence we tended to get very hot and sweaty overnight. There was a fan provided but we were reluctant to use it owing to the need to keep an ear out for our son in the other room... This is simply a structural limitation of the property as a barn conversion, but perhaps some thinner bedding would help?"

"From the initial phone call to Jackie informing of her of our arrival time to the time we said goodbye to her and Gracie we couldn’t fault the cottage. The cottage is in a lovely location for both those looking to visit the ‘seaside’ or walk in the hills. Everything has been thought of by Jackie, a lovely basket of goodies on arrival and even some lovely cakes!!! Gracie made herself at home and we all miss her. If what you are looking for is a ‘home from home’ base from which to explore this part of Wales you’ve found it. Nothing is too much trouble for Jackie and the cottage was exactly what we were looking for. With 2 adult ‘children’ there was adequate space and they could escape from the parents at every opportunity. The gardens are stunning and the cottage so very peaceful. We would not hesitate recommending this cottage."

" This is a very cosy, attractive little cottage for two. The kitchen is very well equipped; apparently a few people have been bothered that there is no wardrobe hanging space in the bedroom - didn't bother us. One thing to be aware of: it is on a clutch-burningly steep hill and parking in front of the cottage is tight and difficult. That said, we had a Vauxhall Zafira and managed it OK. The alternative is to unload and then park in the village car park, about a 5 minute stroll away. The view from the little sun terrace is excellent, straight over to Snowden, a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine if the weather is good. Look left and Harlech Castle towers over you. So, really nice place to stay, recommended. "
