What our customers say about their holidays

    • Wendy - Verified booking

The apartment was very comfortable and in a really lovely setting with great walks from the door.

However, it did feel like the owner had not kept up with certain things. The main thing for us was that there was no docking station and we had really banked on being able to play our music via an Ipod each evening. We were told by you that the owner said that the previous people had broken it and one had been ordered but not arrived in time, however, had you let us know we could have brought our own and this would have made our stay a lot more enjoyable (this is because we eat in each night and really enjoy to have music playing whilst cooking and eating}. The dehumidifier (which it requests is left switched on) came on in the middle of the night and woke us - we didn't know what it was and had to get up to see what was happening - it could be that the previous people had turned it off and so the timing changed. The instruction folder said there was freeview TV available on AV but we could not get it to work. The DVD remote had no batteries and there were no DVDs to go with the player anyway. The HOTL response was that we 'could feel free to go out and buy some batteries' but we didn't see why we should do this and only really reported it so they could be bought for the next people staying. There was previous feedback in the reviews that the bathroom sink was blocked and very slow to drain away - they were told it would be fixed but it was still like it when we went. The handle of the freezer compartment in the fridge dropped off as soon as we tried to open it on arrival and had obviously been previously broken and just balanced back on. Apart from the lack of Ipod these were just little niggles but overall felt like a lack of customer care which did detract from our enjoyment. It was a shame because it's a fabulous setting but would put us off returning. Thank you.

Compact and comfortable cottage in a great location, 15 minute walk from Grasmere (village), with a lovely view east over Grasmere (lake). Single L-shaped room (plus bathroom) so not lots of space - we had great weather, although it might be less cozy with lots of wet gear in the room. Lovely garden overlooking the lake (shared, but plenty of space) and there are two paths nearby leading down to the lake shore (one of them through a wood), so great for morning/evening dog walks. There are plenty of 2-3 hour walks from the cottage, which can be extended if you are so inclined. We found the cottage adequately equipped for cooking, but previous reviews were critical - as with all holiday cottages, if you’re planning to cook best take some sharp knives and your own pans/casserole dishes if you need something specific. The garden is secure for most dogs - the was a sheep in the garden when we got there but we notified the agents and the fence was secured within 2 days. We would definitely stay here again.

Great to be back at this property in its idyllic setting and felt at home straight away.

Didn’t use the car all week as plenty of lovely walks from the door. Easedale was always a haven to return to after a day’s walking and its excellent facilities made it cosy and comfortable meeting our every need. It was rather an eventful week but we will be happy to return. On arrival we were unable to get in as the mortice lock was on and we only had a Yale key. Thankfully between the maintenance team and a kindly upstairs neighbour we gained access after a short time. A couple of days later the water went off but this too was resolved after United Utilities informed us that an engineer had turned off the wrong valve! A couple of days later the internet was off. Again this was resolved after a couple of guys from Openreach knocked on the door to fix it. All’s well that ends well and we look forward to our next stay at Easedale:)). Thank you to the owners for making it available.

Whilst the property has been fitted out to a high standard, and bedding and towels were lovely; I felt it was hugely let down by the poor quality of kitchen items. Two wine glasses, which didn’t match, one of them chipped and the other clearly taken from a pub - that felt very shoddy for the amount charged. That’s just an example - the china and glassware all needs sorting and replacing. It might seem minor, but was very disappointing for the amount paid. Other points to feedback - the decking was dangerously slippy. One of the ceiling lights didn’t work. The folding table was falling apart on one side. Two thirds of the freezer couldn’t be used as the door couldn’t be opened far enough.

      Third time at this cottage.

Fantastic.admittedly the bed is where you eat and where you relax but the space is of a really good size..and as I said the third time wevecstayed and are looking out for dates next year.the gardens re fabulous..and what was really helpful for us was we could go straight out early morning and ladst thing at night with the dog.the views are amaxing and the patio beautiful for jyst sitting and enjoying a drink in the evening..it overlooks grasmere.brilliant access for walks and grasmere itself just a short walk away.what we like is that we re very close to grasmere but not actually in the midst ofthe traffic and clouds.lovely quiet place.highly recommend a stay!
