What our customers say about their holidays

    • Richard - Verified booking

Our stay at Wild Acres was a blend of beautiful moments and significant disappointments.

While the property itself is situated in a fantastic location, certain factors dampened our overall experience, some of which seemed easily avoidable. On a positive note, Wild Acres boasts a great location that made our stay memorable. We appreciated the efforts made by our hosts to rectify issues as they arose, demonstrating their dedication to creating a pleasant experience for us. However, our arrival was marked by the absence of a number of amenities that were promised in the listing (and I notice that the listing has not been amended since). It was disheartening, to say the least, as we had specifically chosen this holiday home for a special family celebration. The most striking discrepancy was the external kitchen - while the listing explicitly mentioned a sink, fridge, dishwasher, and barbecue, we found only a sink on our arrival. The hosts did provide disposable BBQs later, but the missed opportunity to cook outdoors and enjoy the stunning terrace view over our first two days was a disappointment. Further, the shortage of an outside fridge was exacerbated by the inadequate size and missing shelves of the inside fridge, which limited our capacity to store our cold items effectively. Apart from this, there were minor frustrations such as an unexpected shortage of wine glasses - for a five-bedroom house, it's quite odd to initially only provide five wine glasses. Even though more were delivered later, it would have been preferable to have the appropriate amount from the beginning. Additionally, our request for a stair gate, made prior to our arrival, was unfulfilled. We also encountered maintenance issues such as a broken plug and lock in the bathrooms - issues that were rectified later, but marred our initial experience. Overall, we had a great time at the property but felt that we did not get what we had paid for.

Great property + great location = great holiday.

The three adults plus two small dogs in our party all have a great time here. Seaview was spotlessly clean on our arrival and had some nice personalised touches that we appreciated. We found the kitchen/dining area a little "compact" but it wasn't a problem as we worked around this easily enough and anyway, it was more than compensated for by the large and comfortable lounge. The bedrooms were well furnished, comfortable and had a good storage space. Worth mentioning that the kitchen was particularly well equipped with all manner of pots, pans, casseroles, knives, dishes etc. There were even two different kinds of vegetable peeler! The nominated parking spaces were a bonus too. Located at the end of a private road, Seaview was quiet yet had amazing panoramic views of the sea that were captivating whether sunny or stormy. It's 50m above sea level so there's a bit of a climb back up from Coverack itself or the small (and almost private) Porthbeer Cove with its mixture rocky/sandy beach. Its only 700m (not the mile quoted in the Sykes listing) by footpath to the lovely Coverack harbour with the excellent (if somewhat pricey) Lifeboat chippie and Paris Hotel. Good coast path walks in both directions right from the door. We toured the area a bit. We enjoyed Loe Bar and Porthleven in rough weather – these can be accessed from car parks in the north of Loe Bar or the NT Penrose Estate. The Spingo beer at the Blue Anchor in Helston was as good as I remember it from 40 years ago and the walk around Lizard Point excellent and sparsely populated once you got 200m from the car parks! Note that Seaview's location is nowhere near that indicated on the Sykes mapping. Exceeded expectations.

What a lovely place to stay.

The cottage was clean, well stocked with all the equipment we might need both in the kitchen and living room where there was a selection of books, games and dvds alongside lots of tourist information leaflets. I spent a lot of time enjoying the view from the front bedroom out to sea. The cottage is set in a beautiful background with well maintained gardens around it and lots to explore. The nearby sculpture park is a nice easy stroll away, free to go around and dog friendly. We spent a lot of time walking along the coastal path exploring, swimming in the sea and watching seals on the rocks. There is a beach at low tide only 10 minutes walk away. Coverack is a beautiful village with a large dog friendly beach, good essential food shop, cafe, pub, chippy and restaurants. This is a good place to stay with lots nearby to do and also lots a short drive away. We felt very welcomed as soon as we arrived with the gift of some lovely cookies a pack of playing cards and a beautiful local card with a message on it left by the owners. Definitely will be going back. Loved every minute there.

    • The E Family - Verified booking

We discovered Coverack the previous year and were keen to return to this quaint part of Cornwall. The house is situated on the coastal path with stunning views of the sea and surrounded by lush vegetation. The private decking area in front of the house is an absolute gem: a riot of flowers, the sound of waves lapping and seagulls swooping above and below, a wonderful place to soak up the sun or have a lively family meal. The house itself is extremely comfortable and imaginatively furnished with every amenity a guest could possibly want whilst the views from almost every window are stunning. The village shop has absolutely everything and the Paris Inn served an excellent birthday meal for our eldest son. The paddle boarding was great and the park not only perfect for little ones but with the most amazing vista. If you want a sandy beach keep an eye on low tide times and parking isn't a problem if you arrive early or late. I cannot recommend both the house and Cornwall Hideaways highly enough.

Myself and 9 friends celebrated my 40th here and we had the most amazing experience.

The views are spectacular and the bbq/hot tub area makes the place even more special. We were very lucky with the weather which made the weekend more pleasant. Luckily we are all fit and healthy to cope with the steep rocky climb up to the house from the beach. I think the description of the house needs to include the level of exertion required by people, as some less able would struggle. I also think the place could include outdoor blankets for colder evenings by the bbq area. Unfortunately the narrow rocky lanes leading to the house meant that we couldn't get our cars up the lane during one afternoon as the stones/rocks became too loose and the car tyres were just spinning, meaning we couldn't leave the house. Despite this unfortunate incident, the maintenance people were very quick to correct this and brought a tractor to compress the road within hours of reporting it. We still feel like we had the most amazing experience at Wild Acres and would definitely return.
