The house was OK.
Clean and basic facilities. It was dingy and claustrophobic - one window at the front obscured by an overgrown bush, and one at the back in the kitchen. No windows up stairs, only roof lights. The place welcomes pets (we don't have any), but had a bit of a musty smell of wet dog. There's shelves in the living room well stocked with books etc, but this gave the impression of being cluttered. There's lots of pictures on the walls at odd places, looking behind these cover dents/marks in the wall. No usable outside space - There was a back garden but no access to it - the only access being via the side and back of the row of properties, which was not at all practical. There's a bench at the front facing an overgrown bush and overgrown brambles. Facilities were basic - no washing machine or dish washer. Parking wasn't ideal. There are spaces more or less in front of the property which is fine, if they are available. More than once these were all taken and we had to park at the other end of the site (by the refuse/recycling bins). There is a hotel on the side with restaurant and pool. We didn't use these facilities, the weather wasn't quite good enough for the outside pool and there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area to try. Charmouth, Lyme Regis, and the Jurassic coast is a lovely area. If you're loking for somewhere basic, then this is fine. Would we recommend it, not really, unfortunately, I am sure there are better properties for the price to rent in the area.

Gull Cottage, is in an idyllic position for those who enjoy the fun of the seaside.
We certainly enjoyed our stay in this well equipped property. We did encounter a number of issues. The power tripping throughout the first evening and the following morning, the washing machine had been left with water in it and consequently we were unable to use it and the heating not being on. These issues were largely remedied and in this regard I would like to thank the support team for helping to ensure that this didnât unduly affect our holiday. The staff I spoke with were polite, friendly, apologetic and helpful. Mark from the maintenance team, did all he could to try to resolve the issues. Although these issues were not completely resolved at least they did not seriously blight our experience. I would however say that when paying nearly £3,400 to rent a property for a week, I would expect everything to be functioning correctly. I appreciate that with a quick change over this can be difficult but feel a solution to this would be of value. A wonderful holiday, delightful cottage (with a few little issues), very helpful staff. The property is in an ideal position for the family of which we made up 5 adults, one disabled and 2 grandchidren under 5yrs.
We enjoyed being so close to all facilities it is such a great position for everyone and many happy hours spent people watching from the balcony. The cottage is well equiped and was lovely and clean on arrival. The outside umbrella broke and was immediately replaced which was great. We reported a constant noise which we thought might be the extractor fan in the bathroom that would not switch off this did not get sorted before we left. On the morning of leaving half the electrics went out leaving us with no hot water or cooker to heat babies bottles and all other appliances were out including Wifi, TV etc. We tried to report this as an emergency as it was before 9.00am both for ourselves and the next people arriving. The emergency telephone link with Lyme Bay Holidays/Sykes sends you in a recorded loop not to a person to manage the emergency. The recorded message advised there would be a call back at 9.00am. I do not consider that an emergency response!! Thankfully the cafes helped us with hot water for the baby.

Whilst the let was on the surface neat and tidy as an elderly couple with a dog ...
Whilst the let was on the surface neat and tidy as an elderly couple with a dog couldn't recommend it the sofa was extremely uncomfortable the two recliners were comfy but too low I spent the entire holiday sitting on a dining chair the beds were too cramped apart from the double the lack of fresh air in the bedrooms we found stifling and so sleep wasn't good shower and bath good toilets child sized and very poorly situated like the downstairs sink why put it opposite the hot dryer rail bend over and you burn your backside when washing your face the outside garden I'm not sure that was described accurately it was unusable no access from house you have to walk round the row of houses up a steep slippery overgrown path get in the garden (I use garden loosely) to the deck which may be classed as fit for use but we didn't use it once car parking didn't get use of it once during the holiday description of waste disposal also needs addressed better our verdict will be don't use to anyone

It was a lovely little bungalow with a great garden, however there were things I would have liked to have known before arriving.
The lane is VERY narrow, in the handbook inside the property it says its best to reverse down the lane, actually I think drop things at the top and walk them down - its not very far. The closest car park is Woodmead which doesn't come up as long stay but this summer (2023) was £35 for 3 days or £65 for a week. The other long stay car parks are £15 a day which was more then we'd expected but it took us a while to find Woodmead. It was a last minute booking and despite phoning the number provided this info was hard to come by, as we had limited time to research. It spoilt the first day or so with confusion and stress especially for my 83 year old mother. Otherwise it was delightful and the best equiped place we have ever stayed. The garden was perfect, private and sunny most of the day. Thank you very much for the goody bag we enjoyed it!
