"There were a number of issues that arose. The first was the steep drive up to the house. This was covered in moss and difficult to negotiate without a 4X4. One of our cars got stuck and needed the RAC to get it out, whose driver commented adversely on the state of the drive. The owners pointed out that it had been very wet, but that does not mean they couldn't have tried clearing the moss to make access easy. There was also difficulty in manouevering cars in the car park. This can no way be described as adequate parking - we only had 4 cars and only just about managed, as some of our party couldn't come. I think the nature of the drive should have been more adequately described in the details of the propertyThe second point was s smell of gas in the kitchen. The owners arranged for a plumber to examine the cooker, who found no leak, but explained how it may have occurred. A note warning guests to watch out for this would have prevented our anxiety. The third major incident was a plaster fall from a ceiling. This could have caused injury if one or our party had been underneath. It appears that some rain had entered as there was a flat roof. The owners came the same day to clear up the mess, and remarked that tis was an unforseen event. However, maybe a more thorough inspection of the property prior to lettting the property might have identified a potential problem.Overall the cleanliness and equipment in the house were good, and despite the above frustrations we were satisfied with the house."

"We stayed at the Cider Barn the weekend of 16th March and wow….what a fantastic time we had. The house was absolutely stunning and so clean! All of the rooms were beautifullly set out and it was a real advantage all of them being en-suite. The house was spacious but also warm and cosy with spectacular views! The huge dining table is magnificent and the lounge area very comfortable! The kitchen was very well equipped and meant we could easily cook a large meal for 13 of us. The owners have literally thought of everything from two toasters, two kettles, two dishwashers etc, to having lots of games available and tea and coffee when we got there. We had such a great weekend and location is great, close to Exeter, the beach and we had a lovely lunch at the Smugglers Inn which is about 15 mins away. It’s really easy to find the house, the sat nav takes you to the bottom of the long steep drive, and then you basically just keep going all the way to the top. Also a massive thank you to Ralph who went above and beyond to rescue our friend when the taxi couldn’t make it out to the house to get her because of the heavy snow! He very kindly rescued her with his 4 x 4 and managed to safely get her to the train station, what a superstar! Could not rate this place highly enough and we are looking forward to hopefully returning one day."

"We had stayed at the farmhouse 2 years previous. First the good points - it is in a lovely quiet location with a large garden and large kitchen/diner and living room so plenty of space for 12 people. The Aga is great to use and keeps the kitchen nice and warm. The hot tub, tennis court and games room are potentially great features. However the property is in need of some TLC. Several of the sinks/bath did not drain very well and some of the bathrooms needed regrouting as they were showing significant mould. The fridge/freezer had to be power cycled almost every day when the water dispenser was used as the display came up with errors. The décor was looking rather tired particularly in the living area. Whilst the bedding and bathrooms were clean the place really needs a good clean throughout which is difficult to do between sequential bookings. We were also disappointed that the hot tub was not available on our last day when we came back early to use it and there was no notice about why. Later we were told it was due to a bacterial infection. Well it would have been nice to have had a notice at least! The property is high up so if there is low cloud then you sit in it."

"12 of us had a comfortable and cosy weekend in a very high quality residence. There is enough seating for everyone around the large farmhouse dining table and enough seats for everyone to sit comfortably in the lounge. Beds were comfy and cosy, bathrooms modern and clean, kitchen suitable for catering for large parties. We used all the facilities (all equipment is provided) tennis court, the jacuzzi and sauna and the table football, table tennis and pool table. The back lawn was a wonderful place to play with our dogs. We loved the peace and quiet, and the space to share birthday celebrations. The beach at Woolacombe was worth the 30 minute journey. The surrounding countryside was spectacular in the last flush of Autumn. Small shop nearby but we had a Sainsbury’s supermarket delivery on the first evening to save bringing all our groceries and although it was the driver’s first visit to the propery he found it in the dark. All of us agreed we would love to go back."

"S19191 is a wonderful, very well equipped house, with beautiful large bedrooms and 10 bathrooms to match. It was very easy to cook meals for 15 people with an amazing selection of pans and enough plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery to still have plenty even when the dishwasher was full. Ilfracombe is just a short stroll away and so family could pop into town at different times for the next cream tea or visit down to the harbour. It takes longer to get back as the walk is uphill, but we all felt fitter by the end of the week. The teenagers in the family spent most evenings in the bar room, playing pool or cards. The lounge was very comfortable and had plenty of settees and chairs. You can get to the coastal path, with amazing views, by walking up the path at the side of the house. We also had great days out surfing at Woolacombe Bay, fishing trips, pony trekking and playing pitch and putt. We had three generations of family and all really enjoyed our week."
