" Our first stay at this cottage. very clean and well fitted out. New Carpets due by Xmas after one guest(s) badly stained one/some. Garden large and well maintained by a Gardener. Washing Line no longer usable as Garden shrubbery has grown since the Photos used on various sites were taken. I suggested to the owner that a folding Dryer would be useful but a Washer Dryer is fitted. It is on a quiet road in Kirby Moorside across from a playing field which may be noisy in School Holidays. Only a 200 yard level walk to the Market Place in Kirby Moorside which has a Spar and a Co-op. No big supermarket. Several Tearooms, two of which at least have Wifi. The cottage does not have Internet or Wifi Access. We would definitely stay there again - as seasoned Cottage renters this is way up near the very top of the list of the best we have stayed at. Hate to give such a glowing reference as it may make it difficult to book it again! WE saw and heard Barn owls in the Garden and a Raptor, ? a Sparrowhawk crash landed on the lawn near to where I was sitting when it just just missed a pigeon and hit a hedge - it stayed on the lawn, regathering its dignity for a magical minute or two before taking off again. Low local light pollution makes star gazing good too! Pickering and Helsley Castles, Riveaulx and Byland Abbeys well worth visits as is Nunnington Hall (in Season) and the North York Moors Railway runs Steam from Pickering to Whitby and back. The Hutton le Hole Rural Life Museum, sounds boring, but it is fascinating - allow 3 or 4 hours there - and if you recognise lots of the exhibits like we did you know that you are older than you think! We will return! "

"Howe End is situated in the lovely village of Kirkbymoorside. The village is walking distance to local shops and a great play park for the kids. The cottage itself is of a high standard. Everything you could need and more was available and as we went over the festive season we were delighted to find not only biscuits, milk, tea, coffee, spices and sugar on our arrival but also beautiful decorations. The cottage has a very cosy, homely feel and it is obvious that the owners love the place. The owners in fact were very friendly and helpful prior to the holiday giving us all the detail we could wish for about the cottage and surrounding attractions. The cottage has games, toys, books, dvds and films but is in such a lovely area you'll never be in. As a family we had great days out visiting York, Whitby and The Deep in Hull. We also brought along our dog as the cottage has a very safe, pretty, back yard. On the odd occasion we left the dog at the cottage we could leave the back door open and contain him in the kitchen/garden area which was very useful. The cottage overall is fantastically equipped, immaculately clean, cosy, comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. Very reasonably priced and as a family we would love to go back."

" Situated close to the centre of the delightful little market town of Kirkbymoorside. It has four central pubs two of which are hotels that serve very good food. The village also has a butchers, Co-op, Spar, petrol station, two cash points, a fish and chip shop, Chinese, Indian and pizza takeaways and numerous interesting specialist and antique shops. The people are extremely friendly with conversation striking up as soon as you walk in to a shop or pub. Not something us southerners are used to but made us feel very welcome. Ale served in the north of England takes a little getting used to, although I found a little practice goes a long way. Kirkbymoorside is just off the A170 not far from Pickering with Scarborough to the east and Thirsk to the west. A trip on the preserved North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering to Whitby is a must. Hauled by steam at regular times of the day for twenty two miles over the moor is a step back in time that excites old and young alike. With plenty of walks in the area and a day in York we had a great week away from our normal lives in High Wycombe. "

"The house is very comfortable and spacious, situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Helmsley which was really convenient. We enjoyed the wine and biscuits that had been left for us. It's a very high tech house and because of this there were quite a lot of instruction books to read e.g. how to programme the lighting system downstairs which after a tiring journey we found hard to work out! We liked the automatic lights on the stairs and in the bathrooms. There were a couple of quibbles - the build up of soap in the washbasins under the plugs was offputting and can't have been cleaned for a while and a bag of rubbish left in the hallway which contained recyclable and non recyclable items. I wasn't prepared to go delving through it to sort it out. There were also mugs left in the washing up bowl in the kitchen. However these are minor issues and it would not stop me visiting again. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much."

" The towels supplied were lovely and proper sized bath towels. The kitchen was well equipped and you were supplied with tea towels J cloth and a sponge. It was also so nice to have a fresh pint of milk in the fridge so on arrival you could relax after your journey with a nice cup of tea. The cottage has a lovely garden, although it was February the garden was not showing it's all, but there was crocus and daffodils out, which made a pleasant outlook from dining table at breakfast. The cottage is ideally situated, we travelled with ease to Whitby, Scarborough, Ripon and Castle Howard. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend and hopefully will return. The owner even phoned me to let me know I had left my coat after we had vacated the property. 5* Service. "
