"This was booked through Sykes Cottages as the lodge is privately owned. On arrival the lodge was freezing cold, the heating had not been on for days and it would have been nice and welcoming, to arrive to a warm lodge especially this time of year. The lodge did not appear to be very clean. The basics were fine; clean bedding, clean toilet and shower, and main floor areas ok. We moved the coffee table to make more space for our little baby and noticed the rug was quite stained and the part of the rug under the coffee table had not been hoovered for a while! We attempted to hoover ourselves but the hoover was pretty useless. The bathroom door handle was broken and we reported this 2 days after our arrival, and it was finally repaired the day before we went home. There wasn’t much storage in the kitchen as the cupboards were all full of kitchen equipment (not sure it was all necessary!) so we stored stuff on top of the kitchen cupboards only to discover it was thick of dust and very greasy. We noticed that the extractor fan wasn’t even connected to anything. Skirting boards were grubby especially near kitchen bin, so we cleaned this ourselves. (Who wants to clean while they are on holiday?!) There was lots of dirt and old sweets etc under both sofas. The shower screen leaked everytime you used the shower and the grout/sealant was mouldy in places. We found a hairball on top of bathroom cabinet and hairs/dust behind bathroom door. We found food smears on inside of curtains in living room, and inside of windows were covered in fingerprints. Decking area could do with a jet wash after the summer. We reported these issues to Sykes Cottages when informing them of the broken door handle. The cleaning team did visit the following day and cleaned the floors, removed hairs from behind door and left fresh towels but did not action the other issues. However, it did make us feel a little more comfortable about staying there the rest of our holiday. We had an ok holiday, the site is nice, clubhouse is canny, and the site is in a great location. However, this lodge needs a deep clean and a bit of TLC asap! Hopefully no one else will feel the way we felt while staying there, or have to do their own cleaning whilst on holiday, and that the owners of this lodge have dealt with all the issues we informed them of! Lastly, the third bedroom is quite small, with no cupboard space and is definetly a bedroom for children. I don’t think the lodge is really suitable for 6 adults."

"As i am 36 weeks pregnant i thought it was a nice idea to take my husband and 6 year old son away for the weekend before the baby arrives. We paid a lot of money to stay in a lodge with a hot tub. When we arrived at 4pm we were told the hot tub was not ready as it had just been cleaned. As much as I appreciate it had been cleaned we were left disappointed it was not ready to be used till the next day. This unfortunately was just one of many concerns I had. Entering the lodge i noticed a funny smell which i tried to ignore, the patio doors were stuck up with sticky hand prints which I had to clean, the outside table was dirty which I also had to clean, there was mould in the fridge, the handles on the utensils were falling off, the main toilet absolutely stank of urine which the door had to be kept shut at all times, the carpet in living room needed a Hoover, there was crumbs under the cushions on the sofa, the heating broke on second night and we had to wait for an engineer to fix it the following morning. The standard of cleanliness I expected to be much greater considering this was not a cheap break."

"On our last night at this truest amazing cottage which is straight out of Beatrix Potter, but with a modern luxury feel . This truly beautiful place is ideal for everyone families, young professionals and mature couples. Ideally positioned with orchard views and all amenities to hand within a 10 minute walk. The cottage is just exquisite did not want to leave very lucky owners who if ever need house keepers and gardeners please just ask. The bedrooms and fittings are top quality and the open plan large kitchen is a wonderful haven for sharing a well deserved meal/BBQ with friends which looks out onto a safe and well planned large country garden, finishing the warm evenings off sat around the top end of the garden drinking a glass of Merlot whilst feeling the glowing earth from the fire pit.In the colder evening you can sit in one of the two lounges one with traditional stone floor and log burner . A real hidden gem in the beautiful hopefully soon to be heritage part of the world. Thank you for a fab week.No photos supplied as they could not justify this place try for yourself"

"Spent a week in this cottage and what a week. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. The garden is large and and secluded. It's mainly enclosed but the gate would allow little dogs to escape. There's a fire pit a bbq, great features and wonderfully landscaped. The kitchen is spacious, bright and has everything you could possibly need. A downstairs utility room and shower is so handy especially if like us you have kids and dogs. There are two living rooms. One is carpeted the other has a hard flooring and a log burner, very practical and characterful. There are TVs in all the living areas. The bedrooms have nearly everything you need and all the showers are great. The only thing missing was a full length mirror. This must be the best rental cottage I have stayed in. It is a real quality place. It is also in a great location and easily accessible for just about everything. I would definitely stay stay in this property again."

"We have just returned from Sunny Corner lodge and it has been a lovely relaxing week. The lodge has everything you need and more. Great loaction on the park as it situated in front of the woods so it's great if you have a dog like we do for walks. Short walk from the lake which you can see from the front of the lodge. The club house on site was a little busy at the weekend but ease off during the week which served nice food and drink. The only down side to the site is it is very dark at night as there are no lights along the lodges when you are walking back from the club house could cause a problem if you haven't got a touch with you. The site is well situated between Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. You can get a taxi if you didn't fancy walking for as little as £7 each way for 4 people which is cheaper than the bus as the bus is £3.50 per person each way. We would definitely return to this lodge."
