Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk with superb lake and fell views. Brockhole is less than 2 miles away and Grasmere, Ambleside, and Troutbeck are a short drive. Marine centres along the lake provide a variety of watersports.
