What our customers say about their holidays

A beautiful cottage set in an amazing location to visit the South of Cornwall.

Did find it slightly difficult to find initially and there is really only parking for two cars. The property was clean and tidy and had comfortable beds and sofas, a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. There is a TV downstairs and one in each of the bedrooms, and plenty of storage place. The utility room has a toilet and shower with plenty of room for coats/ shoes etc, and to dry the dog.(crate/blankets and bowls supplied). The kitchen had most things you'd need for a short stay (Although the tin opener was useless) the new Esse cooker was simple to use and there is also a combi microwave. We did find some mould on a ceramic baking dish. It would've been nice to have had salt, pepper (basics) and tin foil/cling film and kitchen towel. The garden is great, so many hidden areas to it with fruit trees and some herbs. There are three sitting areas, a bench/table near the house, a small table/chairs near the lawn and a bigger terrace with a corner garden sofa and loungers. It would've been nice to have a broom/brush and dustpan, cloth/kitchen cleaner and more toilet rolls. I also couldn't see how to recycle bottles/cans/plastics and kitchen waste. Because the rubbish bin was in front of the neighbours most of the week, it wasn't clear it was Clahar's, and had a couple of black bags ripped open. We did loose hot water one day, but after a phone call it was promptly resolved within about an hour. The shower in the bedroom does leak quite a bit from the outlet which passes through the wall to the hose (Although it did not affect the use of the shower). Other visitors said they had a bottle of fizz and a doggy biscuit, that would've been lovely, although we were left bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee, a nice surprise. These were minor, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had a lovely week at Polurrian House with family last week, the facilities were great and the location is stunning.

So many local, beautiful beaches, walks and places to visit. You can watch the cows at the local farm from the balcony coming out in the morning and coming back to bed late afternoon which is nice. The house is on a sort of little complex with 3/4 other houses either occupied by their individual owners or by other people on holiday. The house has 3 good sized rooms with ensuites, and 1 with no ensuite but is next door to a bathroom. The house is stated as having a secure garden for dogs, and it is fully fenced, however, if you have a dog smaller than a small beagle size there is a possibility they will get through one side of the fence into the next doors garden. You have access to 3 car spaces (number 3, the garage behind it and the space between them). The description stated 2 spaces when we booked, but in the documentation the house has inside it mentions these 3 spaces. The house in general was spotless, cleaned to a very high standard and lovely welcome gifts provided when we arrived. A few things to note for the servicing team/owner that if we don't mention you may not know about, is that the bedroom door downstairs to the room without an ensuite, once you shut that door, you will struggle to get out of it without an almighty tug. It needs shaving slightly to fit well. Also the same for the downstairs bedroom with single beds, the ensuite door does not shut at all for the same reason. We couldn't find a light switch that worked either the front or back garden lights, so using the hot tub after dark was a bit hard, probably just the bulbs needing changing. Other than those easy fixes, a great holiday home, highly recommended

Clahar Cottage is a stunning cottage in a great location.

The interior has been done is such a tasteful way to maintain the history of the building but also offer modern facilities. The garden is a great haven with plenty of seating dotted around to hide in! We enjoyed many walks both from the cottage or within a short drive and our dogs have just loved it! My only very very very small niggles are the lack of a hoover/good brush and some cleaning products as when you are in and out from walks with dogs the boot room got really mucky and I would like to have left it cleaner. A word of warning if you are tall like my husband - walk around with a stoop as he bashed his head on the back door more than once and the low beam in the kitchen near the kettle. You think he’d have learnt the first time but it seemed to knock all his sense out of him!!!!! The steps to the first floor are also narrow in depth and thus steeper which some may struggle with. However these are just things you have to accept in an old listed building and become conscious of during your stay. I hope to return to Clahar again. It was so nice to be able to be in a rural quiet location but also within walking distance to food shops and pubs which meant we hardly had to drive. I highly recommend you try Clahar for yourself, you won’t regret it!

Clahar Cottage is gorgeous, both inside and out.

From the moment we stepped through the door we felt at home and it had everything we could possibly need, plus and more besides. The house was spotlessly clean, and a vase of roses, milk, biscuits, bread and butter were waiting for us along with some logs and kindling to get the log burner started. The cottage is in a fabulous location, we walked to most places (pubs, beaches, village shop, restaurants etc). I would highly recommend it, and we will rebook to stay again. Tip for anyone who uses the smart TV's in the house: delete your Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts when you leave! Some of the TV's had 3 separate accounts save to it, meaning we could have bought movies etc using someone else's account. Obviously we didn't do this, but some people may not be as honest as us. We were amazed that previous tenants had left themselves open to this happening to them. We took our Fire TV stick with us and accessed our Prime/Netflix/iPlayer accounts etc via that, which is by far the safer option. One other small thing to note: The dishwasher is very loud. I'm not sure if that's normal, maybe it is just a very noisy machine, but I have never had one that is as loud as that so might be worth the housekeeper checking it is working ok, just to be safe.

Nice garden in a very quiet area, parking for two cars, well equipped kitchen with good standard of crockery, glassware, good quality bed linen and towels etc.

Added benefit of three modern and lovely bathrooms, two en-suite, convenient for a family with adult children, or a mixed group of couples. Dog friendly is a big bonus, and one of the reasons we picked it. The key lock and easy checkin was appreciated and saved time. Communications with the manager was a bit patchy, but it did not detract from the overall experience. Occasionally, there was a sewerage smell in the garden, the garden table (one of the single stools planks is loose) could also benefit from an umbrella, when (yes we were lucky) it is hot and sunny. The dining table has seen better days with the laminate raised and peeling in a couple of places, one of the dining chairs was broken and one half of the toaster did not work. It was not clear where to leave or do with the recycling when the bin provided filled up. Again, these are all minor issues, I am assured will be addressed did not detract from our excellent overall experience and is provided here as constructive feedback, as for the price you would expect the property presented in a pristine fashion.
