      The cottage was as described on the website and was very spacious.

      Very comfortable and clean with great views of the railway from the front window and the sight of Pickering castle from the back door. Great location for exploring out onto the moors, going to the coast or travelling into York. No issues with parking in the car park over the road (a permit is provided for one car) and we heard no noise from the renovations next door (the owners left us a welcome pack with a card explaining what work was being done and when there may possibly be any noise which was a thoughtful touch). The kitchen was really well equipped and clean and the log burner in the lounge is highly efficient (we would suggest turning the central heating down if you intend to use the fire as the radiators are very efficient at keeping the cottage warm!!). One of the best cottages we have stayed in - highly recommended!

      A lovely characterful cottage providing accommodation to a very high standard, perfectly maintained and scrupulously clean.

      The owners seem to have thought of everything, from a welcome pack of cake, chocolates, tea, coffee and milk, through to extra birdseed for our feathered friends using the feeders outside the kitchen window. Beck Cottage has a great location, only a short level walk to the pubs, restaurants and shops in Pickering, and with the added bonus of a great view of the steam trains running into and out of the station. During our week we managed to squeeze in two days out on the railway, visits to Helmsley, Whitby, Thornton-le-Dale and Scarborough, and took in a Pickering FC home game. There's so much to do and see in the area that a week is never enough. We were sad when it was time to leave Beck Cottage and would gladly return anytime.

      A wonderful gem with all the home comforts you would need.

      We made the owners aware of our late arrival and were so impressed that the lights had been turned on. This certainly made it easier with two tired children. We were also pleased with the milk and supplies that had been kindly left, it was very appreciated. The cottage is conveniently situated with only a 10 min walk into the centre of Pickering at the most. There is also off street parking and a great garden. It is certainly a tardis and very deceptive with more than enough space for a family of 4. It is very well equipped and comfortable and in February warm and cosy. We are certainly hoping to be back and would most definitely stay there again.

      Beck Cottage retains its historic charms whilst providing all the comforts of a modern home.

      The kitchen was up-to-date and well equipped; the living room very comfortable with the added benefit of a wood burner (very useful during the cold snap we had over New Year 2025); and the bedrooms comfortable. The Christmas decorations kept the festive spirit going a bit longer! We were left a welcome gift by the owner of a home made lemon drizzle cake, chocolates and a bottle of fizz (the cake was delicious - thank you!). The cottage was ideally placed for the steam train; we took the trip to Whitby one day and no car journey was required! It was an easy walk into town for provisions. I would highly recommend. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

      Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location.

      Beck Cottage was pristine inside and very comfortable with lovely beds and sofas. Everything you could possibly need was included, even things you wouldn't think of such as binoculars and torches, along with some lovely welcome gifts too. Beck Cottage is directly opposite a little level crossing just before the station at Pickering and we could watch the steam trains going past from the bedroom and lounge windows. It is just a few minutes walk into Pickering itself, and Pickering Castle is just behind the cottage and you can see it from the pretty little back patio. We will certainly return to Beck Cottage, and would give it 10/10.
