What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Salih Yildiz - Verified booking

It was a lovely, cosy and well-equipped cottage in a fantastic location close by to local amenities and within driving distance of many local attractions. The information on the website stated that there was a highchair and travel cot but when arriving at the cottage, we could not find either. Upon calling the owner and then the Derbyshire Country Cottages phone number, a highchair and travel cot was delivered to the cottage within a couple of hours. We were very grateful but it was a stressful and avoidable start to our stay. Netflix was very temperamental on the TV. It often freeze or logged out unexpectantly. The gate was hard to open as it needs balancing. The recycling was already full and therefore, we struggled to dispose of recycling appropriately. The lane is very narrow and difficult to drive down when there are cars parked in certain places. This needs to be emphasised more on the website as some people in bigger cars and / or less confident drivers would struggle. The kitchen was very well equipped. It was great to have a cupboard stocked with oils, herbs, spices, etc.

    • Mr Round - Verified booking

We had a wonderful stay at Forget-Me-Not Cottage, which is ideally located in the heart of Tideswell village and is perfectly sized for a small family holiday. The cottage is compact, however very well provisioned with equipment and the owners wonderful attention to detail provides finishing touches which create a lovely cosy atmosphere. The log burner and heating system are both incredibly straightforward to operate, which ensure a lovely warm and cosy winter retreat. The conservatory is a fantastic place to enjoy cosy meals in, especially with the Christmas decorations. The side entry was particularly useful for muddy boots and a dirty dog. The ground floor has obviously recently been renovated and it really shows, with the lovely kitchen ideal to cook family meals. Upstairs is more traditional, but not unpleasant and provided everything we needed for a winter family escape. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and so much so that we have already booked to return (twice!) since coming home.

    • Mr Troup - Verified booking

We were 2 couples with a dog on our stay, with 2 cars, and parking was never an issue, one of us always was by the cottage patio, the other a little further up the lane. As the cottage is up above the rest of the village there are great views over the roofs to the church, which you can hear the bells of on the odd occasion. The village itself has everything you need in it really, we used all 3 pubs, the food in one wasn’t as good, we thought, an Italian, which was great, a local chippy, that is alway packed, and a fantastic breakfast in the cafe, everywhere is dog friendly, even the locals are friendly. Plenty of local walks and loads of places to visit, which are all reasonably close, Buxton and Bakewell are full of cafes on the street, we were lucky with weather to use them. Would definitely visit again at some point

    • Mrs Buck - Verified booking

We enjoyed our stay at Wynn cottage, the cottage was clean, well equipped and had lots of character. The bed was comfortable however we found the sofa’s uncomfortable especially by the end of the holiday. We felt we just couldn’t get comfortable on them. The Village is lovely and would definitely stay there again, plenty of places to eat or go for a drink. And we loved hearing the church bells from the cottage. Parking was never an issue. There was one occasion we couldn’t park next to the cottage, but we soon found a spot down the lane. On one of the days we got a Bus to Buxton, which was very straight forward and easy to do. Overall we had a great stay! Great cottage in a great location!

    • Mrs Helen Staples - Verified booking

Delightful cottage, well equipped.Stunning location and well appointed for touring the Derbyshire Dales.Extremely good owner of the property.Might be useful to point out the very deep steps from the kitchen to the downstairs cloakroom and rear entrance, otherwise no issues.A wonderful holiday and would love to return. Tideswell is a beautiful village with lovely pubs, however lacked coffee and cake type establishments ,the Butcher didn’t open until Wednesday and closed by 1pm and the Bakery also closed at a similar time, we were disappointed and felt whilst there must be economic reasons for these reduced opening times they were perhaps missing out on business ,certainly by us.
