The log fire was lovely to return to after a day out hiking in February. We found the property clean, well maintained and well equipped with plenty of space. The lack of Wi-Fi and Phone reception provided a very welcome break from our busy lives and was one of our reasons for choosing this cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you.

We found the cottage to be very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The owner even came to visit us midweek to check we were ok as the weather had been so stormy. The central heating was very efficient and kept us toasty and warm and in the evening we lit the log burner to add some extra heat and comfort. There are numerous walks and cycle rides in the immediate area which is perfect for us, including the famous Monsal Trail on your doorstep. There was a pile of leaflets and walk suggestions in the cottage which were helpful and certainly helped us to plan our day's activity. We only visited one pub to eat during our visit, The Packhorse Inn, which was superb, although make sure you book as it's not huge and gets very busy. We would have no hesitation in recommending Swallows Barn and hope to be back again ourselves to investigate the walks and places of interest that we didn't have time for during this visit!

Facilities were excellent, bed comfortable, the log fire beautiful and water very hot. No real negatives at all, we’d definitely return!
