"Great place to stay area wise . The cottage itself was lovely , but the water pressure and bath upstairs were inadequate! You had to get in the bath to turn on the taps etc it also took an age to fill the bath. Other then that very good all round , but the time of year the weather !!"

"very nice cottage in an excellent location, but you will need to take everything with you. No hand soap very little washing up liquid or toilet roll and not even a bread knife, let alone a few kitchen condiments which would would have taken it from a nice cottage to an excellent welcoming cottage. Local amenities were good, especially the Horse and Jockey public house who were dog friendly with good food, and some excellent walks nearby."

"Beautifully furnished. Reasonably well equipped but no bread knife, so no point in buying artisan bread available.Lovely and warm on arrival.Comfortable bed.‘Welcome” pack consisted of a small amount of washing up liquid and ONE toilet roll. Not a single teabag, or a grain of sugar. One well used saucepan scourer, no J cloth. No toiletries. We stay in good quality self catering properties at least theee times a year and have never come across such stinginess."

"Lovely old quirky cottage - spacious and clean. Great village with cafes, bakeries, restaurants and excellent public services - buses to surrounding areas. It was an ideal location to visit the Peak District. Only downside was the outside patio area - messy and uncared for and not inviting to sit out in unfortunately. Need to check for any animal deposits!"

"Could have done with prior knowledge that dogs are not allowed upstairs. Also would have been nice to have had bin bags in the main bin and washing up liquid provided"
    Andy ‐ 21 Jul 2018
"Dark, cottage with very strange smell, if we had been out and about and had the windows closed. No local information regarding things like the dustbin and general waste disposal. The local contact showed no interest when we contacted her on arrival, sarcastically telling us about the key. No contact from anyone during our seven night stay. The neighbours garden looks over the back lounge window, and my wife spotted the neighbour at the window. Nice to be home in truth..."

"Superb Cottage in an Excellent location."

"needs a deep clean, skirting and floorboards upstairs especially"
    Gareth ‐ 15 Apr 2018
"The cottage in terms of its layout and location were excellent. However, the cottage had not been cleaned properly for sometime. I would say that the bathroom had been cleaned and fresh bedding had been put on the beds. However, it was clear that most of floors hadn’t been cleaned properly for some time. The vacume was filled to the brim so hadn’t been emptied for a while so it would not have been very effective in cleaning. My wife spent 30 mins cleaning and vacuuming. The vacume was half full after this process. I did phone the owner and she was apologetic but didn’t hear anything further. The owner did say that she hadn’t cleaned it that day but it was evident that it hadn’t been cleaned properly for sometime."

"We really loved Ash Cottage, thought it was v homely and of a high standard of accommodation. It would have been nice to have a 11am checkout as it was a rush with a teenager!!"
    Simon ‐ 5 Mar 2018
"Great cottage, better than the photos suggest. Spacious, warm, ample room for 4 adults & a dog. Great fire! Plenty of local shops & excellent base to explore the Peak District. Got snowed in & owner let us stay another day until the roads were clear. Will definitely recommend & come back next year."
