As a historic port, with south facing shores, here the history is colourful and the weather is just as bright. Spend your days exploring the seaside town and the likes of Mount's Bay and Lamorna Cove, and see if you can spot St Michael's Mount in the distance. Or for something truly special, head to the open air Minack Theatre.

If you can pull yourself away from Jubilee Pool and Praa Sands, you'll see that the Penzance cottages and holiday homes really are special. In fact, many have palm trees and subtropical plants - thanks to the fine weather. Not just that you can expect a home from home experience with various sized properties with sea views, open plan living areas, private parking, swimming pools and even games rooms.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kenneth - Verified booking

      The negative aspects.

On arrival, the property was really cold, and I would suggest that the heating be put on prior to an arrival, as it took sometime for the house to heat up. The old leather settees in the living room, are extremely uncomfortable and need to be replaced. The courtyard to the rear is unappealing and you would not want to sit out there, the bright blue painted floor is not attractive. In the listing, it states that there is on site parking, when in fact the only parking is a pay and display car park about 200 meters away. We were notified of this, but only after making the booking. The car park was generally quite full, and I would suspect in busier times be an issue. The road outside can be busy, and if you were using the ground floor bedroom at the front of the property, you would be disturbed by the noise of traffic. The positive points. The kitchen is fully kitted out with every appliance you could think of, so if you intend to eat in, you would have everything you need. There was a welcome pack, with milk, wine, bread and even local saffron cakes, a really nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the whole property was really roomy. The location was quite central and you could easily walk to all the local pubs and restaurants. As a working village, everything was open, unlike many of the tourist villages that seem to open for summer only. This is a year round location. The panoramic view from the first floor living room, looking right over the harbour, with the working fishing fleet, will keep you occupied for hours. There is a bus "The Mousehole" which runs every 20 minutes to take you into Mousehole or Penzance, from where you can easily get a train for St Ives. Transport for Cornwall who run the buses offer a travel anywhere in the county, £5 per day or £20 per week ticket, so you do not need to drive and will not have parking charges and difficulties especially in the Summer. The location gives you a central base to explore with ease this part of Cornwall either by foot, car or public transport.

This accommodation was far more than advertised!

Olli contacted us before hand to see if we had any questions, needed anything specific etc which was a lovely touch. We were greated with a 'basics' hamper, definitely far more than just basics and a perfect start for getting in so late and after a long travel. We come to the rooms which are all much larger than appeared on the photos. The house was beautiful, clean and very well equipped, coffee machines, and many other kitchen appliances including a nutribullet! The cupboard were fully equipped with everything you need and much more. Even the knives were still really sharp, which is a change from a lot of places we stay in. The children's bedroom had lots of books in and a beautiful chair to sit and read them on, even a torch which gave our boys a lot of excitement. The view out the lounge window is exactly like the photos, I spent so much time looking out the window that I had forgotten there was a TV. Alongside this, there were a range of Dvds, games and books for everyone. The location is perfect for a short talk into the high street in one direcrion- where we ate at The Bridge and The Mackeral Sky Seafood bar- both amazing food and great staff. In the opposite direction was the beach, we found lots of seaglass for those seaglass collectors. We also visited most beaches and found a lovely restaurant or 2 in Carbis Bay. Newlyn even has a little art gallery which gives you free access to the Penzance exhibition too. St. Michael's Mount (which you can see from out the window) was a must visit, we all loved it from my children to my parents. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go on the boat ride due to bad wind on that day. I'm usually good at being critical and finding ways to improve places. However, at Westcliff, I believe they have covered everything and much more!! We have a rule that we will never stay at the same place twice, although for this property, I think I'll make an exception. Thankyou for making our honeymoon amazing! X

We had an amazing break at Sea Sands in March 2022.

The property is amazing and the photos don’t quite do it justice. The view from the living room and master bedroom is breathtaking and the careful details in the design of the building and layout truly make this special. We had no problems with our stay at all, however the owner Gina was very friendly providing all of the relevant information needed for our stay prior to visiting. The accommodation itself was modern and sleek but still kept its homely and comfortable feel. The property is airy and bright and the furnishings are high quality. Peaceful and natural surroundings brought a feeling of calm throughout the entire week, especially looking out to such a wonderful view of the sea. The hot tub was brilliant, including the outside hot shower which is a blessing in winter months. High quality towels and bedding provided, along side toiletries and a lovely welcome pack which is a really nice touch. There is everything you can think of regarding cooking equipment and this was the highest standard of any property we have stayed in. I can’t speak highly enough of this property and would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the Cornish coast.

      Outstanding.

We were sold on the location and vista prospect and that was what we got. Thought all bases were covered really well especially the kitchen (couldn’t find a garlic press). Only recommendation we could point to would be a tumble dryer. Great touch with the DVD collection too. Just felt very comfortable and homely without fuss and for us as a five it worked beautifully. Sometimes folks will look for a building with an eye catching exterior so Westcliff with a slightly more modest look really surprises once inside. Yes a small backyard which was clean and unreasonably criticised in one review but frankly with the riches of places to be outdoors then it’s superfluous other than a washing/wet suit drying place. Thanks for the welcome basket which I would say should be encouraged by Sykes for all its property clients as it does take the edge off the en route visit to a supermarket when already loaded up and probably at the end of a long day’s journey. You’ve set the bar really high there as a prefect seaside retreat, we’ll done!

Sea Sands is beautiful, luxurious and comfortable.

It has everything you could need and it offers magnificent unobstructed views across the Celtic Sea! A spectator sport is to watch the shipping, air traffic or the wait to spot sea life with your binoculars. The sky at night is also a beautiful sight with the Milky Way right above you. Watch out too for the space station and star link satellite train if the clear skies permit. It is minutes away from the beautiful beach where the surfers love to play and at the permitted time of year the dogs can also roam. Praa Sands is lovely, a small place with few shops and pubs but what it's got is more than enough if you like simplicity, some pub grub, and the freshest sea air while you sip your favourite tipple. Gina (property owner) keeps a watchful eye on the standard you should expect on arrival and mid-way and was quick to sort a few minor issues. She is friendly and very helpful. All together a wonderful holiday destination and we hope to be back very soon. :-)
