What our customers say about their holidays

    • Amanda - Verified booking

This is the first time booking through Sykes and I found it to be a quick and easy process.

The cottage was as described and the location was perfect for travelling to places like the Eden Project, St Ives, Truro, because you are not far from the A30. Upon arrival and contacting the owner we were met by him and shown around the cottage and then he left us to enjoy our holiday, but was on hand if we needed anything or any question answered. The cottage is in a lovely rural setting, it was very clean and everything was there that we needed, including milk in the fridge, a windbreaker and chairs to take to the beach (in case you didn’t take any) There was a bookshelf full of dvds, games and books to entertain you when you arrived back after a long day sightseeing, this was a lovely touch. When we were there we used the JustPark app which was very useful as you haven’t always got change for the parking, also it gave you directions to find your car and you could add time without going back to your car, which is always handy if you are still on the beach. We loved this area and the cottage was just perfect for us as a family of 3, also it is designed to be very wheelchair friendly and is ideal if you have got a family member that is either disabled or is in a wheelchair. We are definitely going to book for next year.

The property was lovely and very clean however we had a couple of small issues.

We found that some of the facilities were a little tired such as the microwave (the door button became stuck many times) and the blinds in the garden bedroom (it came unthreaded and had to be redone) We also were not send any information as to how to enter our property.... We emailed as we're were told to do with a time of our arrival but no one responded and we didn't know the keycode to enter property which resulted in us knocking on next door to ask how they had got in. As it happened the keycode was still plumbed in to the keysafe but this was not ideal when it was 6.30pm and we had waited all day to arrive. We then had to go and get shopping afterwards. As we were not personally met I do believe that an earlier let in time would've been better. Lastly providing some basics such as sugar, binbags would've been helpful as lovely as it was to have tea and coffee pods and some milk, we couldn't use them until we had been shopping. Overall the stay was lovely but not ideal for family's as there isn't really an outdoor area for them to play in and being so isolated means that there are no parks nearby. They did enjoy the pillow chocolates and thought the place was lovely to stay in as did we.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lost Barn, it was an absolutely lovely place to stay and we were lucky enough to have a whole week.

Perfect location and we easily found our way around. We visited Watergate, Padstow, Newquay which were all very near. We took our 2 Frenchies and visited all the beaches which were amazing. The Lost Barn had everything your own home has. We took tea towels, kitchen sponges, dishwasher tablets etc but all was supplied for us. Bedding and towels were lovely and the house is very clean, we couldn’t fault it. Lovely little village and Phil the owner told us about the local walk which was really lovely and very close. An amazing hamper was left for our arrival and was appreciated as it had all kinds of goodies. In fact the only negative for us was the sofa. Although it looks lovely, it was a bit uncomfortable for two people wanting a lounge about afternoon in front of the tv. We would definitely go back to stay here, in fact I look for the same week next year but the dates have not been released yet, I will keep checking though:-)))))

We had a great stay at the Lost Barn.

It was impeccably clean, has comfortable beds and everything you could need. We really appreciated the hamper of Cornish goodies left for us on arrival, which we took bits and pieces from for picnics out throughout the week. The stairs are quite steep - we brought a pressure fit stair gate with us as we were visiting with our 2 year old and I’m glad we did, as it gave us extra peace of mind while he was upstairs that he wouldn’t fall and hurt himself. I wonder if this is something that could be provided by the owners in future, as a relatively cheap, simple improvement that you don’t see often in holiday cottages. The location is also brilliant. We enjoyed great days out at Heligan, Rock, Perranporth, Lappa Valley and Lanhydrock, and a fantastic meal at the St Kew Inn near Wadebridge (recommend booking ahead!). We will definitely recommend to others to stay here and would come back! Thanks!

Mr and Mrs Farmer are lovely and very helpful.

The location is beautiful and so peaceful. It isn't easy to find holiday accommodation for people with physical disabilities. The cottage was lovely and ideal, with lots of room for a person with mobility issues to move around in. The wet room is also very helpful for disabled persons or persons with mobility issues. There is lots of info about Cornwall, maps and places to see etc. available. DVD's and SKY tv provided as well as WiFi. I don't have anything negative to say about the cottage and my stay. My mom, the person with mobility issues, only had one little grumble and that was that she found the couch a little too low and struggled to get up from it. Apart from that, she loved her stay too. We will definitely book this cottage again if we are travelling to Cornwall and would recommend it to anyone with a physical disability who is planning a trip to Cornwall.
