Guests say

Dale Cottage in Crantock is a well-loved property praised for its prime location, cosy comfort, and thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. Guests appreciate its proximity to local amenities and the beach, making it an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests planning return visits.

The cottage generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with several guests noting it was tidy upon arrival. However, a few guests mentioned finding sand under furniture and items from previous occupants, suggesting room for improvement in thoroughness.

The location is highly praised for being central in the village, within walking distance to the beach, pubs, and shops. The convenience and desirability of the location contribute to many guests' enjoyable stays.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, although there are comments about the living room seating being insufficient for larger groups and some finding the beds too soft.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen utensils, games, and beach equipment. However, guests have noted some maintenance issues such as non-working lights on steps, a need for refurbishment, and suggestions for additional facilities like a sink for washing wetsuits.

Guests frequently mention and appreciate the welcome packs, which include items like Prosecco, biscuits, and dog treats. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such amenities are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Dale Cottage is a luxury self catering cottage ideally located in the heart of Crantock village. The property has recently been extended downstairs to create a large kitchen dining area.

The three floored end of terrace has four bedrooms spread over two floors and separate dining and living rooms on the ground floor.

The cottage was built in the 19th Century and has been renovated and beautifully finished with cleverly co-ordinated soft furnishings enhancing family efficient layout.

The cottage exudes luxury and quality whilst having the character associated with the age of the property.

There is a lovely bright, cosy and welcoming feel, offering something for everyone. Dale Cottage has an enclosed garden making it ideal for dog owners or parties with small children. Due to its central village location, you are never more than a five minute walk away from two pubs, the church of St Carantoc, the village shop (with post office) and other village attractions. As well as this, Crantock’s legendary sandy beach is only a short walk away, making the cottage ideal for families, walkers and surfers alike.

Crantock is a small Cornish village set back from the coast close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the north to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast. There are a number of golf courses in the area, National Trust properties, traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Newquay itself is a visitor's paradise with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and nearby Dairyland and Eden Project.

Fantastic location for access to shop, pub and beach. Definitely exceeded our expectations and we will go again. Thankyou

Tracey, the property manager, is wonderful. The cottage is centrally located in the village, within easy walking distance to two fantastic pubs and just a short stroll down the hill to the beach. Though you’re provided with two parking passes for the village hall car park (which is up a hill), we found ample parking around the village and side streets, so we didn’t need to use it at all. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations—it’s spacious and well-equipped, much more impressive than the photos suggest. Everything about the cottage and its location was perfect.

The cottage provided a perfect base to walk down to the fabulous beach and coastal walks in the area. The cottage was probably the best equipped holiday home you could have, with every utensil available in the huge kitchen. The bedrooms were also clean, cosy and comfortable. The welcome pack was very much appreciated after a long drive too. Only 2 things to suggest to make it perfect; a shelf in the en-suite to hold toiletries etc and pillows were a little hard and flat, so maybe need replacing. Otherwise loved it and hope to return again.
