What our customers say about their holidays

    • Glenn - Verified booking

Just had a lovely midweek break at Rose Lodge.

There are just 10 lodges on a small site just behind the Runswick Bay Hotel. They are nicely positioned so all are fairly private. There is a caravan park behind a hedge but we had no issue with noise. Most people like us had their dogs with them so there was a bit of barking when dogs heard or saw each other but it's a lovely peaceful location very close to the Cleveland Way if you like walking. The lovely little bay is 5-10 mins walk down a very steep hill. It was too steep for us to walk up (I think it would take 20 mins to walk up!) but there is a pay and display car park close to the bottom (free after 6.00pm). Rose Lodge was definitely the best lodge we have stayed in - probably helps that everything was still very new at the time of our stay but the furnishings and layout were excellent. The 4 person hot tub was lovely and in a private position. The beds were really comfortable. A useful addition would be black out blinds in the east facing main bedroom as sunrise is likely to wake you up early. The only negative we had was with the wi-fi which was really poor. Very easy to log on but the connection was continually lost. During our stay the central heating wouldn't seem to work. We followed the instructions but the heating wouldn't come on. We only needed it on one morning when there was no sun but didn't raise the issue at the time of our stay as we didn't need heating apart from that one morning. Hot water wasn't a problem as it is a combi boiler so instant water when you need it. Very useful having an ensuite and a bathroom both with showers. Highly recommend Rose Lodge and we would definitely like to return in the future.

This is a fabulous lodge, in an excellent location.

We were so lucky to have found it, it made our stay in North Yorkshire perfect. It was well situated to reach all the places we wanted to visit. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It had the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The whole lodge had a touch of luxury about it from the lovely soft carpets in the bedrooms, the chandeliers, the modern kitchen and ensuite bathrooms to the hot tub ( the only point about the hot tub we did have was it could have been a bit bigger, as we are all really tall people). The terrace area at the back was completely private and the view to the hills lovely. My daughter loved watching the rabbits and pony in the field behind us. The lodge park is gated and safe for children to play. It it situated behind a pub called The Blackwell Ox Inn, which is a great little place, with a beer garden. It mainly serves excellent Thai food, but also has other options. The pub is quite busy, but that had no impact on the lodge as it was situated just far enough away for it to be still quiet and tranquil. It was good to have somewhere to pop in after a day out, if you want to. The staff were really friendly. We would definitely recommend this place to stay.

We’ve had a lovely 2 night break in Willow lodge.

The lodge itself has everything you could need and is immaculately clean. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure and temperature in the showers was great. Fresh towels and crisp bedding provided. The location is fantastic, a couple of miles from the centre of Whitby and a short walk to a great pub. There is a park and ride and petrol station close by. We really enjoyed the hot tub, which again was immaculately clean and set to a great temperature for arrival. A clothes horse or retracing line to hang wet towels would be useful, also additional hot tub towels. We brought our own so not an issue for us. Not a negative, just some feedback which may help the owners keep the lodge in its best condition. We will definitely return…this place is a real gem!!

We found the lodge in a great location in the shadow of the beautiful Stables pub and restaurant and in walking distance of the Whitby park and ride bus.

The views was amazing. We was fortunate to be the first guests to stay in our lodge which was a fantastic privilege. The only disappointment was the rainy weather however this didn't stop us from enjoying the hot tub. These lodges are a great base for exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas or you could just do as we did, which was to chill, relax in the hot tub, log in to Netflix and Prime to watch films whilst enjoying a nice glass of wine getting lost in the views. Wishing Caroline and the team at Stag Lodges all the best for the future.

We had a really comfortable and relaxing stay.

It was our first time staying here and it was recommended to us through a friend to stay here. It was modern, clean, spacious and calming. Couldn’t recommend enough we were really impressed! The only thing I would give feedback on would be to make the lighting for the hot tub a bit better. At night we found it hard to see around that area. Maybe some fairy lights or improved outdoor lighting would solve this. Other than this, our stay was perfect. Thanks so much
