What our customers say about their holidays

First of all I have to say this really is an outstanding cottage.

One of the best we have stayed in and we have stayed in many in the last 10 years or so. The cottage had everything we needed and the lovely bottle of Prosecco and card was a very nice touch, thank you Karen. The massive garden, which we referred to as our own private park is beautiful and our dog loved it. We were very lucky with the weather and was great to use the lovely garden furniture, the views are great too. The inside of the cottage is beautiful and very well decorated, really top notch furnishings, the lounge is really comfortable with a massive Smart TV with Netflix etc.. The kitchen had everything we needed, lovely and big with a very large fridge freezer, the dishwasher was great too! There is a very handy utility room with washer and dryer. The main bathroom was amazing, big , very well decorated and the shower, well what can I say it’s enormous with a fantastic rainfall and separate very powerful shower head. The bedrooms are lovely, 2 twins and a double. All beautifully furnished, big wardrobes with superior bed linen. The only criticism I have is the double bed, this to me seemed a small double and felt like I was sliding out of it. Neither me or my husband slept that well. A king size bed would fit in lovely (please :) ) I also think a hot tub would be great in the garden to relax and take in the amazing views ( please again :) ) Having said that we would most definitely return to this beautiful, peaceful cottage and area.

Holly Edge bungalow was a fantastic home for our four generations of family to stay in.

It was very spacious and we never felt as though we were living in each other’s pockets. On arrival the wow factor hit us even though we’ve had seen the photos. The bungalow was very clean with beautiful fittings and a kitchen to die for. A dishwasher which meant I never had to wash up, plus a washer and dryer which was great as I only took home clean washing. The garden was large and with the gates closed ensured the dog was safe plus our grandchild. A thank you to Karen for the thoughtful biscuits, bottle of wine and lovely flowers though we had to leave those behind because of the pollen on them. The location was in a lovely village with beautiful cottages and flowers in abundance in gardens and kerbsides. It was within driving distance of Whitby, Scarborough,Runswick Bay, garden centres and restaurants. Though I was surprised how quickly the restaurants filled up so think about booking as we had a few disappointments. Locally for a flat beach try Sandsend beach as we only drove through it on the last day and wish we had gone there. There are no shops in the village so do go prepared, there is a Sainsbury’s on the road to Whitby with a restaurant The Stables where we had Sunday lunch which has lovely grounds around it. This has been one of our best family holidays and would 100% recommend this bungalow.

This was definitely one of the top properties we have stayed in and we have stayed in loads.

It was so beautifully the kids loved the games room but there were a couple of things as always that needed attention No tumble dryer or washing line so able to wash but no way of drying The garden was lovely and secure for dogs but our inquisitive cocker managed to escape onto the next field full of cows the escape route was in the trees at bottom of garden but we could not get through to see where so after day 3 he had to stay on a lead in the garden which was a great shame. In the games room there was a ball missing on the pool table, the darts were useless so if you like darts then take your own and the table tennis net fixings were broken but we managed to sort something out. And you need 2 new snooker cues .I'm sure the owners are not aware of this as I'm sure they would have sorted this out The beautiful bathrooms had a problem whish could easily be rectified the water would not stay in the sins so kept having to top it up constantly so with the price of utilities at the moment I would get thst sorted. But with just those few niggles overall fantastic.

Simply put, Holly Edge is a gorgeous cottage in an idyllic setting and perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.

On arrival the cottage was warm and welcoming and we instantly felt at ease, especially with the bottle of bubbly waiting for us! The cottage is well equipped and the quality of the fixtures and furnishing was excellent. The grounds are extensive and our dog just loved playing ball on the lawns, or saying hello to the horses that occasionally appeared in the field next door. The kitchen had all we needed and it was lovely to sit and eat out on the patio when the weather was nice. We did have a little issue with the shower, but a quick call to the owners and they were there later that evening and sorted it out in no time. They could not have been more pleasant or helpful, thank you to them. If we could make one suggestion to improve the cottage even more, it would be to put some privacy film on the bathroom windows. These are clear glass and it can feel a little "vulnerable" when the blind is not down!, that aside the owners really have a wonderful gem of a cottage that is comfortable, inviting and a wonderful place to spend the week in Yorkshire.

This is our 2nd visit to this highly recommended bungalow.

It is set in a peaceful location, in extensive well maintained grounds with a lovely patio area. The bungalow is spacious, comfortable & clean, and conveniently located for the surrounding coast. It has an excellent kitchen with large fridge & large freezer, a lovely dining area, large bathroom with good powerful shower & spacious main bedroom with comfortable double bed. There are good views from the grounds especially with sunrises & sunsets. With the gates closed the garden is secure for dogs. Two lovely dog friendly beaches are only a short drive away at Skinningrove & Runswick Bay. There are plenty of places to visit, including several National Trust properties- Ormesby Hall, Nunnington Hall & Rievaulx Terrace. Mount Grace Priory also allow National Trust members. Filey Country Park is also worth a visit whilst in the area, approx 40 miles away.
