What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lyn - Verified booking

This was our first time visiting so did not know what to expect.

We have just returned home after spending 2 weeks at the Heathcliffe Lodge and we had the most wonderful time. Cliff was the perfect host and such a lovely guy. The Lodge was bigger than I thought it would be and it was stocked with everything you would need. Before travelling I had to call Cliff to get arrival details, and when I spoke with him he had so much time for me and gave me so much information on places to visit in the area during our stay. I had every intention of visiting them all, however although I did visit a few I found myself relaxing at the Lodge and just sitting outside overlooking the Cornfield which I found so peaceful and relaxing, just what I wanted from this holiday. Whilst I was chilling out sitting on the front porch my husband was spending time in the hot tub. The Heathcliffe Lodge had everything we were looking for. I also have to give special mention to Maxwell, Cliff's dog, who was just the sweetest, friendliest, most well trained dog you could imagine. I never thought a dog could make me laugh so much, he was absolutely adorable. He visited us every day just to say hello and make sure things were okay! I would also like to mention Philip, Cliff's co-worker who was also so friendly and helpful during our stay. Cliff also introduced us to his Llamas, Pygmy Goats and Rheas, so if you have kids they will love this. The town centre was only a few minutes away and as far as shopping goes has everything you will need, from all the usual High Street shops to Supermarkets, Restaurants and nice pubs to enjoy a bar lunch. At the end of our 2 weeks I would have gladly stayed for another week but could not as the Lodge was booked. So we thank Cliff so much for his help in making our stay so enjoyable, and we'll be back! Best wishes, Lyn and David

We managed to get in as a last minute new year getaway.

The property was lovely and really done to a very high standard - you can tell that the owner has really put a lot into this. It really was a home from home, even down to the kitchen utensils, lovely underfloor heating and utility essentials. Literally everything we could have wanted was right there. Up to date television in the front room with all apps required Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. All in all we had a lovely time away and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Hot tub was a massive added bonus - we felt very relaxed at the end of our stay! We every night in here overlooking the clear fields. Cliff the lodge owner was on hand to assist with any queries - I contacted him regarding key collection and also when we arrived - very easy to get hold of. His friendly dog Maxwell bounces around the farm too and sometimes appeared at the porch door, much to the delight of our 2 year old. Thank you for a lovely trip away and hope that we will be back!

Nice place, owner was friendly, however failed to tell us that we should take the plastic duck out of the hot tub while in the hot tub as this held the chlorine tablets for the hot tub.

not knowing this my wife's skin reacted badly to the chlorine. Shower looked great on pictures but if your over 6ft like me then it meant i had to sit down in it to use it - not ideal. heating didn't work in the master bedroom or en suite but as only there for 4 days didn't see the need to raise this. I would like to state that this place advertised as not allowing dogs which is great as i am very allergic to dog hairs but was surprised to see what i can only presume was the owners dog running around the site trying to get into the lodges and would randomly appear at your window on the terrace. From the pictures Heathcliff lodge at the front looks like the balcony terrace is enclosed which i though was great for my small kids meaning i could allow them out thinking they would be enclosed but that was not the case, it was only enclosed on 2 sides. Based on the above points id give this place 7/10

      Absolutely fantastic stay!

The owner is really friendly and there to offer advice or just have a chat. The facilities are excellent and everything is very well thought through. We needed some assistance with the hot tub and the owner very quickly sorted us out. The lodge is spotless and the most comfortable lodge we have stayed in by far. The location is fantastic! So close to the town but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere as it’s so peaceful! Special mention to Maxwell who loves to pop by and say hello. He’s such a good boy and never crossed the line into the lodge. The kids absolutely adored him and wanted to bring him home with us. The kids also loved going to see the goats and horses on the farm.l, as well as playing on the games shed and with the footballs and goalposts. We are already planning next years stay! See you soon!

It definitely had the WOW factor set in lovely well maintained grounds overlooking fields in a quiet and secluded area.

Easy check in and collection of keys and a lovely welcome pack. Close to amenities only a short drive. Cliff was very knowledgeable of local area and welcoming what a great guy. The lodge was fantastic and the children loved the hot tub, a very safe environment for children. All the little extra touches really makes this a relaxing and comfortable stay finished to a high standard. As for Maxwell (the farm dog) what a lovely welcome each day so well behave grat with children. We only went for a long weekend over Easter and will definitely be returning as this was not long enough. A huge thank you to cliff for making us feel so welcome.
