"Framlington villa is perfectly placed for anyone wanting a quiet retreat whilst still having some excellent amenities not too far away. The villa is extremely well equipped and warm and comfortable. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, one with a shower and the other with a contemporary bath (very attractive but not very practical - this is the only criticism we have of the villa!) The setting is rural and extremely relaxing. There is a short walk up to the village where you will find a warm welcome at `The Village Inn` and I can definitely recommend the fish and chips there! There is another eatery just a stones throw away `The Granby` which provides an extensive menu. The village hosts a small grocers shop and there is an artisan bakery `The Running Fox` which incorporates a cafe. The food here is excellent, we had the small fox cub cooked breakfast which was delicious and hearty. The bread and pastries were delightful and the quiche and scones are highly recommended! Framlington Villa is perfectly placed for anyone wishing to visit Northumberland, it`s beautiful coastline and villages and towns of historical interest. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family and will definitely re-visit in the future."

"We had a fantastic week in this lovely cottage. On arrival it really did meet our expectations and retained them all week. Very comfortable and spacious cottage which is in very tranquil surrounds – fantastic views in all directions over fields and hills. There has been lots of thought and time put into preparing this cottage and all to a very high standard – loved the thick fluffy towels! The owners live next door but they could be miles away, hardly saw them and never heard them, however I am sure that as the polite notice in the information pack says “we only live next door ” and then goes on to ask that if you have a problem do not hesitate to contact them. We had no problems but I am sure that if we had then they would have been quickly resolved.Pitch black at night, lovely location and plenty to do within a few miles drive. Try the walk round the reservoir. Coast only 20 miles or so, Kielder similar and so is Hexham – every day out was a great one! If you dont want to travel then there are great walks on the door step, nearest real "anything" is Rothbury 8 miles away - very nice too.No hesitation in stating this is one of the very best cottages we have ever stayed in."

"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.Healey Farm Cottage was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"The East Wing is an imposing property and the "wow" factor as you enter the wing and wander through the magnificent rooms is one you will not forget for a very long time, if ever. The décor and attention to detail of the owners gives the East Wing a very comfortable and homely feeling, especially once you have lit the open fire in the drawing room and dropped the blinds. Whilst the "local amenities" are not within walking distance, the Shell station in Powburn is very well stocked, is a quick trip in the car and much nearer than the supermarkets in Alnwick. But order your groceries on-line with the "taste the difference" supermarket - much easier. Visits to Bamburgh, Holy Island, Cragside House, Walkworth Castle and Rothbury village all add to the Northumberland experience. A fabulous property, in a fabulous county."

"The central-heating thermostat is... guesswork, at best. No instructions, and it seems to keep on resetting itself every few hours. Not a massive inconvenience or hassle, but... not a smooth hassle-free experience either. For me personally, none of the sofas were overly comfortable - again, not a massive problem, but a constant niggle. And finally, if you (Sykes and/or the property owner) are going to make the renter get £100 in cash for the 'housekeeping bond', at least make the effort to collect it. Or just sack off the requirement completely. Either way. But making *such* a big deal about it (it's on every confirmation, and on the description page on Sykes) and then not bothering about it again just makes it feel like "Well, that was pointless and annoying"."
