Have an exciting escape with Peak District self- self-catering holidays

Home to rolling hills, historic market towns, picturesque villages and the UK's oldest National Parks, the Peak District makes for a fantastic staycation or short break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there's plenty to see and do in Peak District beyond its stunning views. Visit charming market towns and stately homes, pop into a local pub for a cosy meal, adventure along the Monsal Trail or get your heart racing by rock climbing or exploring Speedwell Cavern.

Whatever your requirements or budget might be, at Snaptrip, we have a huge range of beautiful Peak District holiday cottages to accommodate them. From picturesque church halls and converted old post offices to dreamy barns and fairytale manor houses, you're sure to find your dream home away from home.

Why choose a Peak District weekend break or staycation?

Whether you're looking for a relaxing holiday away from life's stresses or a trip that will invigorate the senses, the Peak District National Park has something to offer you.

The Peak District is the most visited National Park in the UK. And for very good reason. The area is awash with awe-inspiring countryside, breathtaking moorlands, pretty towns and stone villages, and the dramatic and rugged hills of the White and Dark Peaks.

If you love going on epic walks, you'll be spoilt for choice in the Peak District. The unrivalled natural beauty of the landscape, spectacular mountain scenery, wide valleys, sparkling lakes and rivers, and rolling foothills make the perfect backdrop for your expedition. A particular favourite of ours is the ridge walk in Mam Tor. This scenic walk offers a stunning view over Hope Valley and the Vale of Edale.

To get a taste of the laidback and relaxing life in storybook Peak District villages, why not base yourself in the charming market town of Leek? The sleepy town has lots to offer and is surrounded by incredible countryside. Or why not stay in the sweet village of Bakewell? Treat yourself to a delicious Bakewell tart and spend a day wandering around the stunning Chatsworth House. Buxton is another great choice for where to stay in the Peak District. You'll love mooching around the picture-perfect streets, popping into gorgeous shops and enjoying a pint in an ancient pub.

Located at the head of Hope Valley, the village of Castleton is well worth a visit. You can walk in the surrounding hills and explore the famous show caves. The village looks like it's from the pages of a fairytale, and boasts the Norman ruins of Peveril Castle.

The Peak District is home to some of the finest stately homes in the UK. You can spend your whole trip exploring these grand homes which have hosted and housed royalty throughout the centuries. Some of our favourites include Tissington Hall, which dates back to the 1600s, Bolsover Castle and its incredible grounds and views, and the Elizabethan manor, Chatsworth House, built in the 1560s.

If the National Park is your main reason for visiting the area but you still want to take it easy, add Hope Valley, the Heights of Abraham cable car or the White Peak area of the Southern Peak District to your to-do list. You'll still enjoy the stunning views the Peak District is famous for but at a more relaxed pace.

Or, if you're looking for a wilder experience, head to the Dark Peak moorland. This area of heathland is characterised by its often desolate and exposed landscape, studded with idyllic fields of blooming heather.

With so much to see and do in the Peak District, you'll only wish your trip could last longer.

Find your perfect Peak District holiday cottage

When you've spent your days exploring the sights, villages, and attractions the Peak District offers, there's nothing better than heading home to your cosy holiday cottage. Cook up a feast, relax in the garden, take a dip in your hot tub, or chat the night away in front of a crackling log fire.

Our extensive range of Peak District holiday cottages includes holiday homes with modern features like underfloor heating, off-road parking and unspoilt countryside views from the sitting room.

We have contemporary houses with indoor heated swimming pools and games rooms, and rustic cottages ideal for a romantic retreat. If you're looking for family-friendly self-catering accommodation, a holiday home with enough room for large groups or somewhere dog-friendly with a private garden and unique features like a dog shower, you're in luck! Just set your requirements and you'll see just how extensive our range of Peak District accommodations is.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miss Bartley - Verified booking

It was an ok stay, on arrival it looks lovely. Parking is ok you just have to park close to the wall. Inside looks really nice however I have asthma and I noticed it was flaring up, I knew they allow pets but wasn’t expecting to have to hoover up when we got there, the rug in the living room was very dusty and hairy I hoovered it with the hoover they provide and when I’d finished it was full of hair and dust literally full, I don’t belive it had been cleaned before our arrival it had a very fusty smell and the sofas and throws on them were also covered in pet hair. As soon as I’d sorted it myself my asthma was getting better. That’s the only complaint I have really all the other things are probably more personal opinions but it would have been nice to have summer bedding available and not thick duvet in August there was a little runner blanket on end of bed but it wasn’t big enough to use as a blanket but apart from the bedding the bedrooms were really nice plenty of storage for clothes we stayed for a week and there was enough draws and hangers for mine, my sons and my partners clothes, mattresses were comfy too. The bathroom was perfect. 3 bedrooms, 2 were a good size and the bunk bed room we used that to keep our suitcases etc as we didn’t need it but it is only small but that wasn’t an issue for us. The kitchen is very small but again not an issue for us it was only me in there cooking as my partner knows to leave me to it.

Positives:- owners left me to it after the initial welcome which i prefer, not a fan of owners checking in all the time.

they left a welcome pack with homemade marmalade which was tasty, some shortbread , different types of tea and coffee. fresh milk in the fridge. bed was comfy and nice thick duvet that kept warm but doesnt make you sweat. had all the amenities you would want, lots of cutterly,plates,salt/pepper/spices etc great views and peaceful issues: Heating is controlled by the owner so if you are cold you would need to ask them to turn it up etc, which just feels like im complaining so i never did and just wore more things. there is no curtains at the front of the conservatory and only netted ones around the sides. the front faces the owners wall with a window in it(they dont ever seem to use this room) which doesnt feel very private at night where you cant see out but they can see in. It's a shared garden which wraps around the house with gates that have lots of space for any sized dog to get through. i broke a knob on a cupboard door moving the spare chairs around to make room, sorry about this. overall it was a good experience that could of been made great with the above issues addressed. 4.4/5 stars

The cottage was the perfect location and accommodation for the two of us and our large dog.

Fully kitted out kitchen, small bathroom (shower only), king size bed, two seater sofa etc. Very quiet location in the middle of farmed fields on the same site as the hosts home, but also a mile or two drive to a small convenience shop and a couple of pubs which do food too. Hosts incredibly friendly, and helpful with suggestions of places to go in the area. The hosts permit the use of the enclosed field opposite the front door to be used for dogs needing the toilet -supervised and cleared up of course- provided their animals (goats/ducks/chickens) are not roaming/ grazing in it. NB. This is where our dog discovered he could run and jump over 4.5ft high dry stone walls!!!! Amazingly (for such a rural area) excellent 3G connection too! Would not hesitate to stay here again.

No curtains or blinds in the lounge area, felt like we were in a goldfish bowl and didn't sit in there to watch tv except one tea time.

Couldn't connect to the internet at all on my laptop, even tried in the pub but it didn't work, we managed to get it on our phones though. This place actually catered for smokers with seats and a table outside and the offer of an ashtray though we had our own, well done on that score. We were told just to ask to turn the heating up, which is operated by an app on the elderly owner's phone but at night when it did get cold the owners were in bed so we couldn't knock them up. All the gear needed for a comfortable stay, a lovely welcome basket also. We wouldn't go back again but it's ok to get your head down in for a day or two. Great people at the pub by the way.

This accomodation was extremely comfortable which was very important as we stayed for a month, really home from home with everything to hand you could ever need.

It was really warm and cosy and the views of the surrounding countryside are superb. The hosts Thelma and Keith are a lovely couple and nothing was too much trouble. The fixtures and fittings and linens were all of the best quality and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary utensils and appliances so a longer stay was easy to manage. My little Yorkshire terrier Oscar enjoyed the luxury and didn't really want to leave. We can highly recommend this accomodation, it certainly had the relaxing feel good factor we were looking for. Thanks to Thelma and Keith.
