"The 'house' was not at all suitable for a dog as the living room was upstairs and dogs were not allowed upstairs. The downstairs bedroom had no windows so was dark and airless. The upstairs bedroom was too light. The blinds on the window were useless and there was a street lamp outside. The velux windows had blinds on them but it was impossible to reach them so they were uncovered all the time. There was no dishwasher which is fair enough but there was no draining board to put the washed items. With a wet dog and child, it would have been a good idea to come and go through the utility room but then the dog (and the rest of us) would have had to go through the downstairs bedroom (which was not allowed).I would not describe the house as 'end of terrace'. It was more like a garage conversion! It looked very modern and attractive inside but was really not very user friendly."

"The central-heating thermostat is... guesswork, at best. No instructions, and it seems to keep on resetting itself every few hours. Not a massive inconvenience or hassle, but... not a smooth hassle-free experience either. For me personally, none of the sofas were overly comfortable - again, not a massive problem, but a constant niggle. And finally, if you (Sykes and/or the property owner) are going to make the renter get £100 in cash for the 'housekeeping bond', at least make the effort to collect it. Or just sack off the requirement completely. Either way. But making *such* a big deal about it (it's on every confirmation, and on the description page on Sykes) and then not bothering about it again just makes it feel like "Well, that was pointless and annoying"."

"Fantastic tardis property. From the outside looks like a garage but once inside the property is a vast, comfortable, well equipped cottage with lots of light. This is the first time I have holidayed like this. It was easily big enough for a family of 4. The only negative point was there was no outside area attached to the property for our dog to go out, so all toilet needs had to be done attached to a lead walking along the beach. Not ideal at midnight or 7 am. We weren't able to park outside the property either as a neighbour (white van man) parked outside before we got back every day and then made a racket when he left every morning about 6 am."

"Very comfortable stay, ideal for the beach and walking the little dog. Lovely walk along the promonade, only ten minutes to the town, not many shops but very good Cafe,s to sit outside and watch the world go by while we enjoyed our drinks and very dog friendly. Parking was not a problem all free in this area.Improvements would be a sink with a draining area as the draining rack drips onto the floor if you don,t keep drying the work surface. Also a grab rail in the bath to support you getting I and out of the shower and a grab rail at the front door to support people getting in the deep step.We went to Holy Island and lots of costal villages.l"

"Absolutely fantastic holiday in The Old Church. A beautiful conversion. Loads of space and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Beautiful location with stunning views. We were met by the owner and shown around the house and how to work the heating etc. We had a wonderful time and visited lots of places. Loved Haltwistle which was a short drive away. Great pub - The Black Bull - lovely, good and really friendly staff. Durham is beautiful and Newcastle a fantastic city. I would give this holiday home 5 stars. Took the dog on lots of long walks around Melkridge and along the wall. Would love to come back again. "
