Pentre Fach is a lovely barn conversion and the owners are so kind and helpful.

The hot tub is a treat we were here for 3 weeks Fresh water change was done weekly which I felt was great. I Feel the cottage could benefit from some new utensils as the knifes and scissors were blunt and there were not enough glass for 6 people, cottage sleeps 6 but only 3 Prosecco glasses etc also a nice big saucepan would have been useful when cooking for a large family. These are only small Suggestions And had I have asked the owners whist there I know they would have been more than accommodating as nothing was a problem for them and they would have been happy to help. Being in the country flies were an issue for me the owners again supplied us with fly paper and spray etc but if the doors were open the flies were in plenty! (I spent a lot of time killing and picking up flies). The beds and bedding were lovely and comfortable and we had fresh bedding and towels brought every week the upstairs rooms were very hot as they are in the roof of the house I was certainly glad I planned ahead and took fans or it would have been unbearable on really hot days especially as I was reluctant to open windows Because of the flies coming in. The games and swing ball in the garden were a lovely addition and there was plenty of garden furniture to sit and enjoy the outdoors. All in all we had a great time here and that was down to Julie and Gareth for helping us feel so welcome there. I would highly recommend A visit to Llandrindod well Lakes which is only a 25 minute drive we spent most days there are the kids enjoyed the fishing which is free to under 16 (take your own equipment) lovely play area for the little ones and a cafe serving beautiful food for great prices.

The Searle is not really a cottage.

It is an apartment within a converted Pub. Had I known would not have booked it. extremely clean and modern decor. apart from the old disgusting dirty and stained bedroom curtains hanging off the rails. Also issues with lack of clothes wardrobe . The soot and water mix from leaking chimney stack staining the back wall of fire place. The kitchen had long term (see past reviews) breakages and missing cooking items. Self catering!!?? The outside in a state of neglect and dis-repair. Leaking hot tub . Owner switched it off. There is no garden. It is a concrete âyardâ, with a trip hazard foot path from entrance gate. Secondary gate latch hanging off â¦.not pet safe. Render and crack damage around entrance door, walls and damp course level. Blocked (long term growing vegetation) rain guttering, creating a Niagara Falls onto path slabs . Sleep was impossible. Then I saw the Property for sale sign, since March 2024. I concluded this was a significant reason for Searleâs general dis-repair and the owners non- commitment to her property and her guests mental comfort. When sold it is somebody elseâs problem. Three days in I had enough . left and returned home. Left comments in guest book , dated and signed . I text owner Sara Jay/Jane when home. To date I have not had a reply. I did not expect one . This standard is not what I expect from Sykes Cottages. Please see my account list of prev cottages and 10/10 reviews. Kind regards Michael Reid

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic New Years break with our two young children at pheasant wood holiday cottage in Llandrindod wells!

Tracey and Kevin were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Extremely friendly people who I would imagine would go above and beyond for their guests (not that we needed anything extra as everything needed was already provided!) The location of this holiday cottage is stunning and the hosts had thought of everything I feel. The kitchen and house was really well thought out and equipped. The house is very family friendly and we all adored the hot tub! I have stayed in many a holiday property and encountered problems when trying to prepare meals for example as there are items missing which I required, not the case at pheasant wood! Everything I needed was right there to hand, this makes such a difference when your away, especially during the Christmas and new year period. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and they even had beautiful fluffy towels for us. Thank you so much Tracey and Kevin for a hassle free and memorable New Years break with our family. We look forward to hopefully seeing you again in the future, many thanks, the freeth family xx

Booking was quick and easy.

Correspondence with relevant information was forthcoming from both Sykes and the owners of the cottage. The cottage itself is beautiful and is set in the most amazing surroundings. It is very well presented and the owners have literally thought of everything. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and the hot tub a wonderful added bonus. There is plenty of wood for the log burner and we were surprised to learn that this would be replenished free of charge if required. As a family we needed some time to regroup and recharge and we were able to do this perfectly here. We had a lovely relaxing break in the peace and quiet amongst the sheep, squirrels, hares and birds and not to mention the views which are absoloutely spectacular. The hosts are so friendly and helpful and nothing seems to much trouble. The only problem was we didnât want to leave!! Would highly recommend this property and we most certainly want to come back!

Just returned from a fab time away with the children (aged 4 and 1).

On arrival we found Welsh cakes, milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge! Such a nice surprise and kind of the owners. A high chair and cot were provided which made things easier. There were even boxes of toys under the stairs for the kids to play with. The hot tub was lovely and the surrounding views were fantastic. At night time we ventured out into the hot tub and it was so pretty with the fairy lights. The children also enjoyed seeing the chickens wandering around. Near by places to visit were Builth Wells, where we had Sunday lunch at The Lamb and we went swimming at the local leisure centre. Another day we visited Elan Valley where we found a stunning lake and dam. Great for walking or taking the bikes. We also had tea at the Hundred House Inn which was nice too and not too far to drive. Thank you for a great holiday, Iâm sure weâll visit again. Claire and Donny.
