    Knighton Holiday Cottages

The border market town of Knighton sits in two counties and two countries: Powys, Wales and Shropshire, England. Knighton has a chequered history, governed by the Council of Marcher Lords for many years, who met at nearby Ludlow Castle. Today, both English and Welsh are spoken here and the town thrives in its diversity.

Sitting on the River Teme, the town is surrounded by the Marches countryside. Knighton is known in Welsh as ‘Tref-y-Clawdd’ — translating directly to 'the town on the dyke'. Home to the Offa’s Dyke Visitor Centre, an information hub for wildlife, walking and cycling routes, Knighton is popular for its scenic location. Choose one of our dog-friendly accommodations so Fido can enjoy the great walking routes of Knighton, too. After all that exploring, wind down at one of our properties with a fireplace or hot tub.

Knighton holiday cottages come in all shapes and sizes and are backed by our best price guarantee. On Snaptrip, you can filter for all the amenities you might need: from the luxury of a hot tub to a swimming pool. Overwhelmed by choice? Drop our friendly customer service team a line. With thousands of properties to choose from on Snaptrip, we're sure you'll find your next holiday destination.

      An absolutely fantastic house!

We all had a terrific time. The rooms are all an excellent size (one was smaller but perfect for the children in our party), with the superking beds being incredibly comfortable! When we got there the house was incredibly clean and we even had freshly cut flowers from the garden, cake and local butter waiting for us. The house is in a perfect spot for exploring the local area: Knighton to walk along the Offa Dyke or pick up supplies from the surprisingly large coop, Presteigne, Ludlow and red kite feeding centre. The small animal petting zoo was great for kids too. The garden was fully secure for our 2 dogs, and large seating area outside meant we could have many meals together in the garden. The view is amazing, not another house in sight! We used the sun loungers to watch the meteor shower on clear nights, and could even see the Milky Way. We even had access to a fully enclosed orchard too. The cows and their calves came right up to the fence, we even saw twin calves! The hosts were fantastic, we received a call before we arrived asking our arrangements for the beds (they are all zip and link so can all be turned into singles), there is no travel cot or high chair (but there is a booster seat that can strap on to the dining room chairs), but we just brought our own so this wasn’t a problem. We had 4 vehicles and there was more than enough space for all of our cars too. Every member of our party absolutely loved the house, thank you!

After many years of using Skyes cottages, we were let by our original choice.

We chose the Old Farmhouse as the accommodation seemed to be the best option available at the time. The farmhouse is in a lovely setting with some beautiful views. The house itself worked for us, especially with a downstairs and shower room, however the shower room floor was dirty. The garden is a good size with different seating areas although one of these which would have been a lovely place to sit of an evening we didn't use as it was quite messy. Some of the garden furniture is rickety, and all in need of TLC. Having been brought up on farmland I appreciate we were on farmland, the flies were such that they were in every room but in the kitchen they were excessive and we used a couple of aerosols of flat spray, having said the some of them seemed immune. Also on opening Windows for but if air the frames were filthy. All in all it didn't stop us having a good holiday the granddaughters certainly enjoyed it, but just a bit more attention to the outside furniture and seating areas would have made perfect.

      Could not fault the cottage.

There were some silly little things. I have notified the owners. These were simple things that did not affect the overall stay. If I had to score it would be a definite 10/10. Beds were so comfy and quality exceptional. I slept so well the whole week. Facilities were of the highest standard, and easy to use. Met one of the owners who is a farmer Steve next door, and his wife. Lovely couple and very helpful. View beautiful and having sheep and cows right next to us was being absolutely in the countryside at its very best. Would highly recommend it. Also the CO-OP a short drive away had literally everything you would need. Its like walking into a Tardis. Oh and one more thing. On arrival we were met by gorgeous flowers, welsh tea bread and butter. I so enjoy the tea bread, i just had to buy more to bring home. Thank you. Xx

We had a great Christmas at the Old Farmhouse.

It's a lovely big house (very comfortable beds) and views from every window. Decorations had been put up for Christmas and the two woodburners really added to the festive feel. The garden was great for our two labradors - enclosed and safe to let them run around. There was a storm while we were there and Stephen, from the farm, came over the following day to check that all was well. It's a lovely area and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming (including the people who look after the house, the neighbours and in the shops in the town). The house is situated up a narrow lane, but it's a quiet lane and we only really came across the postman, so it wasn't a problem - and approaching from the road to the south was even quieter. We all said we'd love to return in warmer months to be able to enjoy the garden more.

If the owners want to attract families with young children they need to have a travel cot, high chair and removable stair gate for the bottom of the stairs.

Other than that the cottage was lovely, very spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. It was clean well presented and the beds were very comfortable. Having three bathrooms was a real bonus. The garden was fenced,so safe for children and the dog. The hammock in the orchard was a favourite with the children! The farmer and his family were lovely and when we needed some help with the television Elizabeth was prompt in her response and the farmer's son fixed the problem quickly, which is what you need with four young children! The area is beautiful with most attractions about a half hour drive away. We tried the Horse and Groom pub in the village and found them helpful with the children and the food was reasonably good 'pub food'.
