    Knighton Holiday Cottages

The border market town of Knighton sits in two counties and two countries: Powys, Wales and Shropshire, England. Knighton has a chequered history, governed by the Council of Marcher Lords for many years, who met at nearby Ludlow Castle. Today, both English and Welsh are spoken here and the town thrives in its diversity.

Sitting on the River Teme, the town is surrounded by the Marches countryside. Knighton is known in Welsh as ‘Tref-y-Clawdd’ — translating directly to 'the town on the dyke'. Home to the Offa’s Dyke Visitor Centre, an information hub for wildlife, walking and cycling routes, Knighton is popular for its scenic location. Choose one of our dog-friendly accommodations so Fido can enjoy the great walking routes of Knighton, too. After all that exploring, wind down at one of our properties with a fireplace or hot tub.

Knighton holiday cottages come in all shapes and sizes and are backed by our best price guarantee. On Snaptrip, you can filter for all the amenities you might need: from the luxury of a hot tub to a swimming pool. Overwhelmed by choice? Drop our friendly customer service team a line. With thousands of properties to choose from on Snaptrip, we're sure you'll find your next holiday destination.

      An absolutely fantastic house!

We all had a terrific time. The rooms are all an excellent size (one was smaller but perfect for the children in our party), with the superking beds being incredibly comfortable! When we got there the house was incredibly clean and we even had freshly cut flowers from the garden, cake and local butter waiting for us. The house is in a perfect spot for exploring the local area: Knighton to walk along the Offa Dyke or pick up supplies from the surprisingly large coop, Presteigne, Ludlow and red kite feeding centre. The small animal petting zoo was great for kids too. The garden was fully secure for our 2 dogs, and large seating area outside meant we could have many meals together in the garden. The view is amazing, not another house in sight! We used the sun loungers to watch the meteor shower on clear nights, and could even see the Milky Way. We even had access to a fully enclosed orchard too. The cows and their calves came right up to the fence, we even saw twin calves! The hosts were fantastic, we received a call before we arrived asking our arrangements for the beds (they are all zip and link so can all be turned into singles), there is no travel cot or high chair (but there is a booster seat that can strap on to the dining room chairs), but we just brought our own so this wasn’t a problem. We had 4 vehicles and there was more than enough space for all of our cars too. Every member of our party absolutely loved the house, thank you!

I returned from Cwmgilla today after a weekend with my relatives.

The location is very rural and quiet and the scenery beautiful. The town of Knighton is within easy reach and access to walking routes is good. The house is large and has five bedrooms, two reception rooms, two games rooms and a hot tub. The kitchen is large and ten people can be seated around the dining table. However, there were some faults that took the shine off my stay. At one point we were trapped inside the larger reception room because we could not open the door due to a faulty handle. If my sister in law, who was elsewhere in the house, had not let us out, I would have had to climb out of a window. The bottom hinge on the door to the small reception room was no longer screwed into the door frame and therefore dangerous. The doors to the downstairs shower do not meet and consequently water can escape onto the floor. The sofas need replacing, the mattresses too. The windows were dirty. Those are just some of the many small issues I found. The house needs some repairs and I would suggest that it needs refurbishment as the decor is looking tired. I took exception to the instructions for leaving, which ask you to strip linen from the beds and bag it up along with the towels. I think when you have paid hundreds of pounds for accommodation that service should be included. My wife complied with the request, but I would have left the beds personally. I think the instruction is cheeky.

We had a lovely family stay at Christmas at Cymgilla Farm.

The house was warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas with a lovely welcome hamper. The kitchen was well equipped with 2 ovens, 2 warming ovens and 2 fridges. The only issue was the fact that there were only 5 teaspoons for 8 adults! Also the downstairs shower was unusable as it didn't produce any hot water. This left us with the ensuite shower and one other in the bathroom . We coped though. The owner has promised to sort out these issues. There were also a few other maintenance issues but none of them spoilt our stay. What we really enjoyed were the games facilities- table tennis, darts, table football, snooker. Also the hot tub with it's lovely views of the surrounding countryside. For dog owners the garden is not secure and with sheep in the fields all around, dogs will need to be kept on a lead. There were lovely walks along Offa's Dyke from Knighton itself or from the door with a short walk along the lanes leading to the Farmhouse. We would recommend you aim to arrive in daylight as the lanes are single track and any signs difficult to see. The last of our party had to be guided in using a mobile phone and waving of torches! We enjoyed our stay at the farm very much and thought it was reasonably priced.

We stayed here for one week in August.

This holiday home is a little gem of a find! This was our first trip away post lockdown and it really couldn’t have been in a more idyllic setting. Firstly we were greeted with a lovely gift basket on arrival. After a long journey this was much appreciated! Secondly the house is much bigger than it seems from the outside. Really spacious rooms and the games room was fab, which we really made use of. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed and again, the owners have really thought about the little touches with hand washes and salt and pepper etc. The hot tub was used daily (sometimes twice) and again was a great addition to the house. On one of our trips out we went to Elan Valley reservoirs. So picturesque and a great way to spend a few hours out and about. We’ve been back home a day and I’m desperately missing the beautiful views of sheep and rabbits that you can see from the front porch. Would love to go back and stay for Christmas and have an opportunity to use the wood burner. Gorgeous, just gorgeous!

After many years of using Skyes cottages, we were let by our original choice.

We chose the Old Farmhouse as the accommodation seemed to be the best option available at the time. The farmhouse is in a lovely setting with some beautiful views. The house itself worked for us, especially with a downstairs and shower room, however the shower room floor was dirty. The garden is a good size with different seating areas although one of these which would have been a lovely place to sit of an evening we didn't use as it was quite messy. Some of the garden furniture is rickety, and all in need of TLC. Having been brought up on farmland I appreciate we were on farmland, the flies were such that they were in every room but in the kitchen they were excessive and we used a couple of aerosols of flat spray, having said the some of them seemed immune. Also on opening Windows for but if air the frames were filthy. All in all it didn't stop us having a good holiday the granddaughters certainly enjoyed it, but just a bit more attention to the outside furniture and seating areas would have made perfect.
