What our customers say about their holidays

    • Joanna - Verified booking

The photos and description don't do the house justice - the location is rural and absolutely stunning.

You can see the waves rolling onto the beach from most rooms and there is access to the beach, dunes and SW Coastal Pathway via the field beside the house. All the amenities you could wish for are a walk/drive away, as are beautiful locations such as Crantock beach, Holywell, Polly Joke beach, Perran Sands, Cubert Common, Kelsey Heads. Our teenage children particulary enjoyed surfing down the dunes (at the end of the garden) and seal watching near Polly Joke. The locals are very welcoming and Crantock village, along with West Pentire, is small and quiet (in October at least!) The house itself is immaculate and well-organised. The showers are worth a mention as they are the best we have ever had in a rental! Everything is thought of, including supplies for the dog, and there was a chocolate cake to greet us which was well-received. We felt that all necessary measures had been taken regarding Covid 19. In retrospect, we were extremely lucky to have booked Cheynoweth due to a cancellation. It's the sort of place you would return to year-on -year and I would highly recommend it.

An absolute fantastic holiday in an amazing house.

Everything was clean, tidy and lots of instructions which was much appreciated. Its the first time I've been to this house, my husband and his family were there last year, its the first time I've not cleaned myself coming to a holiday home, it was spotless, you could see the standard throughout the whole house. There was a chocolate cake, oh my word, it was the best we've ever had and a lovely touch. There was a really great welcome box which contained lots of useful items including extra bags, posh porridge and Cornish biscuits. The garden is stunning with amazing sea views. We sat outside and ate our dinner every night, we loved our week at Chynoweth and already booked for next year! Highly recommended for easy access to Crantock Beach, nice to be able to walk without having to drive. We cannot wait until next year, thanks so much to Jessica, we really appreciate all the nice treats it made our holiday extra special, and especially for the high level of cleanliness throughout the whole house, thank you. Michelle, Jerry, Jerry's parents and Storm the dog.

We returned last Saturday (13 July) from our weeks stay at Carpe Diem in Crantock.

We had an amazing holiday, were expecting a rainy week but the Cornish weather was kind to us most days with lots of sun. What a find Carpe Diem was, we felt relaxed and at home the moment we let ourselves in. The house was spotless and was everything we expected. Everyone was over the moon with their chosen room, soon unpacked, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space (plenty of hangers) for all. The kitchen had every piece of equipment and every utensil you could need, plenty of cupboard space and large fridge/freezer. The lounge is large light and airy with lovely comfortable leather sofas for relaxing in the evening. Dot, the owner, answered the couple of queries we had immediately and Tracey, the property manager is at end of the phone if needed. Harvey our black Labrador also made himself at home in Carpe Diem and loved Crantock beach which is in easy walking distance and we experienced some wonderful sunsets there. From start to finish I can’t fault our week away and hope to return for another break before too long.

We spent a wonderful week at Chynoweth over New Year.

As a family group of 5 adults, 2 children and a dog, we wanted a house where we could spend time relaxing together and Chynoweth was perfect for this. The living space allowed for us to all sit together comfortably with the log burner keeping us cosy or we could spread out around the dining table or breakfast table if we wanted to. The kitchen was extremely well equipped - a real home from home - which made preparing and cooking meals for everyone a breeze. The views are simply breathtaking and are ever changing depending on the weather. The house is ideally located at just a pleasant walk away from the village and the beach. Jessica, the owner, greeted us on arrival and provided us with a welcome pack including a delicious home made cake. She made sure that everything was ok for us, including the timings and temperature of the central heating, and we were confident that she would be on hand if we needed anything. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked a return visit before we had even left!

Had a wonderful week staying at Carpe Diem.

There were 6 of us in our party and we found the house exactly as described. Before arriving we had plenty of contact from Dot, the owner, who gave us plenty of helpful information to make our stay even better. The house is well equipped and in a good location. The local Londis shop (less than a 5 minute walk) is open for long hours and had everything we needed so no drive to a supermarket was required. As mentioned in other reviews the walk back from the beach is fairly challenging but if you know cornwall hills are to be expected! We visited both pubs in the village (opposite each other) and found them both welcoming, with good food and drink with plenty of entertainment. Bus stops are very close to the house and we used the bus regularly to get into Newquay (20mins) and then connecting buses to Truro, Falmouth and Padstow. We would definitely return to Carpe Diem as it was a lovely house in a fab location and we all had a relaxing and hassle free holiday.
