What our customers say about their holidays

Well equipped, very clean & well presented & the sofa appears to be new (different from that in the photos) & probably due to previous comments about it being uncomfortable.

We found it to be very comfortable. A “set” fire would’ve been good, or include a small supply of logs/kindling. No cleaning products available although the tea towel/single dishwasher tablet & washing machine capsule & leftover washing up liquid was appreciated. Suggest a single multi-surface product is provided. It might be worth looking at the ironing board as it’s a little unstable. On departure I removed the out of date condiments, in-line with “house rules” although these were left by previous occupants. I Googled how to use the washer/dryer - again much appreciated to provide one though. We found the key for the side access to the larger rear space but it didn’t feel like we could use it & was quite sparse. Overall this accommodation is almost 5 stars & is in a fabulous location: to achieve full marks: 1) Provide multi-surface/purpose cleaning product. 2) Set fire or enough logs/kindling to make ONE, then occupants should fund their own. 3) Update the blue folder with more specific “cottage” guidance…suggest sectioning the content cottage guidance/food/things to do. This really is a great place to stay, very homely, well laid out & designed. The points raised are NOT complaints, just opportunities for improvement & it’s very clear the owners are reading & positively actioning feedback they receive. We felt like we wanted to look after it & maintain its standards. We’d definitely recommend this accommodation.

The property is in a lovely location.

There was 11 of us in the property and it was big enough for us all. The property was quite tired and some of the electronic games didn't work the TV room TV didn't work either so no videos could be watched. Kitchen was well equipped but tired. The furniture was well worn and the throws on the settees were covered in dog hairs so needed washing or replacing. The vacuum wasn't safe as it sparked when used. One of the mattresses in the family room needs replacing very uncomfortable it looks like there's has been another mattress placed on top of a worn one. The windows are extremely dirty cant have been cleaned in months and its a shame as the views are great. We paid extra for the swimming pool which the kids enjoyed. Left a snagging list in the property when we left so hopefully these things will get sorted. Also sent 2 email to sykes whilst we was there they still havent answered them so wasn't happy about that. The location and the views really good easy walk to the town and amenities.

I do not usually complain even if I have a really bad meal but because this property costs a fair bit, I felt I had to.

The view was outstanding...... but what a dump. The smell of damp as soon as you arrive hits you hard. There are not enough toilet facilities to accommodate the amount of bedrooms and the whole (hole) place needs gutting and updating. It feels dirty everywhere. My sheets on the bed were still damp from having been washed (hopefully) there is no downstairs loo but plenty of room to install one.... only mentioning this as it could be a big issue for people with mobility issues. The outside terrace needs a good tidy up with the removal of a large pot which contained numerous cigarette ends. We were greeted with the previous occupiers rubbish bags in a downstairs (outside) cupboard which had not been emptied before our arrival. The carpets are stained and have seen better days. I would advise anybody to think again before booking. What a shame as it could be stunning if completely knocked through and started again.

The Bight boathouse was perfect for our group which included 2 babies and 2 under 5s.

We were a bit apprehensive due to some bad recent reviews and while the property is a little tired in place it is certainly not deserving of some of the reviews on here. The pool was a godsend, (definitely book that, you won’t regret it) as was the pool table and sky TV (including sports) and the living area is incredibly spacious. The only issue is the bathroom situation which isn’t ideal given that one is en-suite and can’t be shared with the room next to it without having to go in the actual room (there is no door between the room the bathroom is in and the bathroom itself so you can’t really share it at nighttime if someone is in bed) and there is only one other bathroom (which is the smaller, less well equipped of the two). The whole place could do with a few hundred hundred K chucked at it and then it would be off the charts amazing. The views are something else and the location perfect.

Just come back from a delightful few days at The Bight Boat house.

The house itself is a lovely house. We went with a party of 10 and there was plenty of room to accommodate us. The house is well stocked with everything you need for a nice break. The kids enjoyed the pool area and kept them amused. There are plenty of things to keep everyone amused, swimming pool, pool table, gym, sauna, games, books and films. The view is gorgeous, so relaxing to wake up to in the morning and to sit and have breakfast looking over the harbour. The kitchen is fully equipt and has plenty of room. As it was February not many of the shops nearby were open but there are so many cafes, resturants and pubs to visit. Very pretty and quaint shops that are about a 10 minute walk from the house. Very easy transaction with the owner for the trip. There are plenty of information books in the house to find things to visit in Dartmouth.
