Snaptrip says

Woodlands in Dartmouth is a highly praised holiday home, celebrated for its spaciousness, stunning views, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the property's charm, cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches like brownies on arrival. The location is ideal for walks and the town's amenities, though the steep access may challenge some. The house's character and ample bathrooms are recurrent positives, with a games room adding to the appeal. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but overall, the property is recommended for large groups and families seeking a comfortable and scenic Devon getaway.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the exceptional cleanliness of Woodlands, highlighting its spotless condition and the comfort provided by the soft bed linen and fluffy towels. The meticulous attention to cleanliness contributes to the welcoming atmosphere of the property.

The property's location is frequently applauded for its wonderful views and proximity to Dartmouth, with easy access to local coves and the town centre. The picturesque setting and quiet environment are appreciated, despite the steep walk which may not suit everyone.

Guests find Woodlands very comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy bed linen, well-appointed bedrooms, and multiple communal areas. The games room is a hit, and the property's spaciousness allows for privacy within large groups. Some comments about the central heating and a few uncomfortable mattresses slightly affect the score.

The facilities at Woodlands are generally praised, especially the well-stocked kitchen and the number of bathrooms. The games room and outdoor spaces are also appreciated. However, some maintenance issues such as non-working lightbulbs, heating control, and a broken tumble dryer have been reported, leading to a slightly lower score.

While guests mention thoughtful gestures such as brownies and wine on arrival, there are not enough reviews discussing consistent thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

This handsome three-storey Grade II listed Georgian house is situated near the historic Dartmouth creek from which ships departed for The Crusades. With charming views of the River Dart and a welcoming and impressive interior, it is excellent family accommodation. From the steep drive and parking area, leave your coats and boots in the porch and head into the comfortable sitting room with its cosy wood burning stove or the second sitting room, also with a wood burning stove, where you can watch the smart TV or gaze across the water. Prepare family meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoy them together around the table beside the wood burning stove in the dining room, where you can play the piano after dinner. The bedrooms ramble over two upper floors, with a lovely room for the children on the top floor where they can play games and watch TV. The terrace which stretches along the front of the house is a fine place to sit and share barbecues whilst admiring the view. The children can play happily in the lower garden but must be supervised whilst you sit peacefully above on the Veranda (you cannot see the lower garden from the Veranda). You have everything on the doorstep since you can wander out to the restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries or take a tour of the Britannia Royal Naval College. About a 10 minute walk from the house are the Dartmouth Castle landing steps from where you can catch a ferry (seasonal) into Dartmouth. For a longer walk, a footpath leads through NT woodland to the South West Coast Path. You can catch the ferry to pretty Kingswear or take a boat trip to the interesting town of Totnes, or even hire a boat to skipper yourself. And, of course, there are lovely beaches all around the area. Woodlands is a house with room for all the family in a bustling and vibrant area.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon.

We holidayed with our family and there were 12 of us two dogs and plenty of room. The house felt like home and was well equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. Lovely gardens with a waterfall running through. Brownies in the kitchen on arrival was a nice touch after a long journey. Fabulous views from all the windows. Will definitely try to book again!

The house is lovely and the few contacts we had with the owners were friendly and positive. The house is beautifully decorated and the sense that it is still a family home and not a holiday house is a real bonus. The weather was dreadful so we didn't really make use of the outside but the gardens look nice.

There was ample room for the 10 of us and the kitchen was the best equipped I have ever known in a holiday property. The only drawback was the steepness of the drive - but that did lead to a great view.
