Just had a fabulous week's holiday at Kilmartin View with a couple of friends.
Table beautifully set on our arrival along with a welcome bottle of wine and miniature whisky. Jacinta lives nearby and is a friendly helpful owner answering any texted enquiries promptly.The porch was great for our dirty boots and the 2nd fridge with small freezer came in useful. The cottage is perfectly placed for visiting the sites in Kilmartin Glen and beyond. Whilst we had our own maps and guides with us Jacinta has also provided a range of resources for the local area which was great when when we cycled and our friends took the car. There are a pair of binoculars to borrow too for the abundent wildlife. We chose to cycle for the majority of our exploring, the roads are quiet and we found that traffic gave us plenty of space. It was great to have the shed for our cycles. Historic sites in the area are well signed.The scenery in the area is wonderful and uncrowded. Comfy beds, cozy cottage, pub nearby serving tasty meals, what's not to like? Would love to come back

A lovely house in a stunning location.
Most of the rooms are beautifully furnished but one bedroom and its ensuite bathroom are much smaller and in the "backstairs" part of the house, obviously last refitted in the 1970s - still nice, but not up to the standard of the other rooms. The house was generally very clean and well equipped but some of the glasses and crockery obviously hadn't been used for a long time and the vacuum cleaner bag was solidly full. Generally well equipped kitchen with few exceptions - no good frying pan, no teastrainer, no oven gloves - and the crockery, cutlery and glassware varied from old but good-quality to new and cheap. The information about the house and equipment was well-written and helpful but for a holiday home there was a surprising lack of information about local walks and attractions, so bring your own guide book and maps. But with those minor niggles this is an amazing place for a family get-together.

We had a lovely stay at Smithy House.
We were a multi generational family group with a dog. The cottage was cosy, warm and friendly. A great parlour kitchen for family meals and a cosy lounge for playing board games during the evening. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds were really comfortable. The boys enjoyed having the top floor to themselves :) The cottage is located close to the historical Kilmartin and we enjoyed walking to the stones and Cairns, then on to Kilmartin for a delicious pub lunch at the local Kilmartin Hotel. The cottage has easy access to many other activities and we were out every day, visiting Oban, Isle of Arran, Tarbert Castle, Avich Waterfalls and much more. It was easy to pop out to top up food supplies with Lochgilphead only 12 minutes away, having a petrol garage, Spar and a well stocked Co-op. So in summary we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend the place.

We loved this house.
It was so welcoming when we arrived, Jacinta had left such wonderful little touches that made it so special. The house itself is in its own large garden with grass, great for the dog, and a seating area out front. From the garden you can see some of the burial cairns the glen is so known for, amazing. The open plan living, dining, kitchen is great, comfortable and well equipped. The Wi-Fi is really good. The bathroom is large with a great shower stall. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, the mattress wasnât the comfiest for us, but thatâs personal choice. Jacinta was so helpful and friendly throughout the visit. There are so many walks from the door, very accessible, and lots more within a few minutes drive. We hope to come back! Lochgilphead has a great butcher, fishmonger, supermarkets and lovely little gift shops.

We would highly recommend Kilmartin View as a base for exploring this historic region.
There are so many ancient monuments within walking distance of the cottage. Itâs also a great base for the many beaches & castles that can be explored in Kintyre and in north west Argyll, along with the many wonderful islands off the west coast. Crinan canal also provides an excellent point for many easy walks, this property is ideal for dog owners. The property owner, Jacinta & Iain, have thought of everything to make a week away at Kilmartin View as comfortable and as helpful as possible. The local tips for places to visit and for cafes, good value restaurants and water sports activities were all very welcome and spot on, just a shame we never had time to try them all! All in all this is a very good place for a weeks holiday.
