Known as both the Seafood Capital of Scotland and the Gateway to the Isles, Oban brimming with tempting fish restaurants, cafés, pubs and independent shops, including a chocolate shop and distillery. You can pick up fresh fish locally or tuck into shellfish beside the quayside. Catch ferries from South Pier (4 miles) to Mull, Colonsay, Tiree, Lismore and Barra, or hop aboard the water taxi from North Pier (3.5 miles) to Kerrera. Beach days beckon at Ganavan Sands (5.5 miles) and Dunbeg Beach (7.5 miles), while history lovers can visit Dunollie Castle (5 miles) and Dunstaffnage Castle (7 miles).
