"This was my first visit to Moorland Cottages. Overall Moorland Cottage is a charming cottage situated in the beautiful village of Hutton le hole. It is nicely decorated throughout with modern bedroom furniture and it has a lovely fully tiled bathroom with bath and overhead electric shower. The cottage is very cosy , heated by a very efficient electric heating system. While the kitchen is modern and well equipped we like previous visitors had problems with the fridge / freezer compartment. The freezer badly needed defrosting and the fridge was missing several shelves. As the cottage is approx 9 miles from a supermarket I consider it extremely important that a fully working freezer / fridge is supplied. I personally would have liked to see the tall kitchen storage cupboard removed and replaced with an upright freezer. This would then take away the need for a communal freezer in the laundry room ( which too was in need of a defrost ) . I would also like to see a pair of oven gloves supplied for extra safety. While I throughly enjoyed our stay at Moorland Cottages and would certainly return in the very near future I feel the cottage would benefit from a greater degree of general maintenance. For example the shaver point in the main bedroom was faulty and the light was not working. On arrival we found only one light was working in the hallway , would recommend spare bulbs are made available. During our stay there were some families ( including ourselves) who needed parking for more than one car, here some over grown shrubs in the parking area and driveway made it difficult and could quite easily have caused damage to cars. All in all Moorland Cottages is a charming cottage but with a little more attention to detail would be a holiday cottage to remember for the right reasons."

"The online photos of the cottage are deceptive. They do not show that there are stairs in the middle of the lounge/dining room which are steep and narrow. The light which is 3/4 of the way up the stairs was not working and the bulb in the light on the landing fused on the 2nd day of our stay. I had to carry a heavy wooden dining chair up the stairs to change the bulb using a bulb from one of the table lamps. I am in my mid seventies and have a back problem and if this had been shown , we would not have booked this cottage. The front windows needed cleaning which my wife did to the best of her ability and there was stones on the floor inside the lounge area. There were problems with lighting in the lounge as half of the bulbs had blown and we used the only replacement bulb. This meant that the lounge was too dark to sit in during the evening, it was too dark to read. I had a message on Wednesday to say a "handy man" was coming that day but he did not appear. It would also have helped if there were written instructions on how to work the oven hob and the towel rail . The storage heater in the main bedroom was not working, in fact the control switch was not attached to the heater. Previous visitors to the cottage had commented in the visitors book going back as far as 2016 on some of these points. There was only one bolt in the middle of the front door and did not feel very secure. All in all a very gloomy cottage downstairs, which needs more power points to enable extra lighting to be used."

"Great cottage in the middle of the village, near the pub. Its was our first holiday with a dog and this was a fantastic place with enclosed courtyard, garden area and paddock. The cottage is nice and cosy and was big enough for us , 2 kids and the dog. The bedrooms are lovely and look recently decorated with nice furniture. The bathroom is large and airy. The kitchen / livingroom was fine for our needs but agree the sofa & kitchen (fridge) are a little bit worn but absolutely fine for the time we spent in it. Also has Netflix so kids watched some films whilst we relaxed. We would definitely return and hope to do so for a long weekend next year."

"Sadly in need of maintenance - back door out of line & hard to open, outside lights not working, some inside lights not working (under cupboard lights in kitchen- twin wall lights in living room only one light on each lit up)front door only bolted & difficult to open - the cardboard over the letter box is hardly a draught excluder. The stairs leave a lot to be desired - do they meet building regulations??? We note there were no photos of the stair case on the web photos- I wonder why.Main bedroom heater broken.bathroom in need of some work - specially around the bath the panels not fitted properly, shower trim - dirty.quite few cobwebs high up."

"The property was absolutely stunning. We were a party of 8 and spent the New Year in at Cherry Tree House. It was perfect. We had a fabulous dinner party in the gorgeous kitchen on NYE and then went into the lounge and played party games and then let the New Year in. Everything was done to a high specification even down to the crockery and kitchen utensils. Harry the owner is a great guy. I would definitely recommend you try this property. You won't be disappointed. We will be back. Helmsley is also such a lovely town. Handy for country walks with the dog and also not too far for a trip to the coast. "
