"This is a super "cottage"/large house which is beautifully presented. There is very little to criticise and when I reported a problem with the shower in the main bathroom a plumber fixed it the same day - wish mine was so quick!!! The "housekeeper" was really helpful and came straight down to the property within half an hour. The are difficulties, the entrance to the parking area is extremely narrow with high long walls to negotiate and if you have a big car you need someone to see you in with a couple of inches either side. Could be difficult in the dark.A regular car is no problem. Parking for four cars just OK but five a bit difficult. The master bedroom suite is excellent but the bathroom is on the floor above up some extremely steep stairs with a very low door to bang the head. If you were a little unsteady then at night it might be a problem especially if you had had a few "scoops" in the evening in the very comfortable sitting room!! It has five double bedrooms and the house fits 10 people very well and is not cramped. Two of the bedrooms are in an annex in the yard which might be iffy in bad weather. All ten of us thought the bedrooms and bedding were excellent and had a great time. Weather helped. The village and pub are really rather nice and it is close to Thirsk. Last niggle is that some of the doors, kitchen and front door to outside particularly, are very difficult to lock/unlock. They clearly are new locks and the owners are aware and sorting it. We loved it but it was quite expensive for our week even for early August but it is a pretty super place."

"Five adults (two couples and a single) stayed at Halfway House Granary for a week over the new year period. We were all impressed with the cottage and would recommend it as a place to stay. The cottage is spacious, well-kept, comfortable and clean. Each of the bedrooms is of a good size, one being en-suite, and there are two further bathrooms in the cottage. It is centrally heated and has an open fire in the large living room with the logs to burn on it being available from the barn just a few yards away. The cottage is located in a quiet area between Easingwold and Crayke. We cooked for ourselves on some evenings and found that the two Co-ops, a Costcutter, the artisan bakery and a local butcher in Easingwold served us fully in our needs. On the evenings that we ate out, the local pubs in Easingwold and Crayke provided us with high-quality meals. We found the cottage a good base for walking with the Howardian Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park being close by and providing us with plenty of choices."

"Wow what a place! Over the years we have stayed in lots of cottages but Richmond House has got to be one of the best. The village of Felixkirk is everything you want from a picturesque little village on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales. A pint or a glass of wine in the Carpenters arms is a must. The cottage itself is out of this world! Everything has been designed & made to the highest spec. It really is 5 star luxury and no expense has been spared to making Richmond house into a perfect country retreat. I've read the previous reviews regarding lack of utensils etc. The owners have clearly taken the comments on board as now there is everything you need. We had the perfect stay here with 8 couples in total. The cottage is so spacious, clean & beautifully furnished. We didn't want to leave!"

"The holiday house was excellent and once we knew what roads to use was easy to get into Ripon and beyond. The house was well presented and everything was thought about and appreciated. We needed a ground floor bedroom and shower with WC because of my husband's disabilities so we had to pay for a larger house due his requirements but we were aware that this would have to be more expensive as we wanted to be in this particular area. On a previous booking in Wales beds were not made up as we had stated 2 occupancy so we put 4 now to be assured of the extra room we require due to disabilities. No faults with this house as we had choices and knew we could have invited friends if required. I have said we will not return but no fault to the house just that we like to tour different areas."

"House and pool were great for us. Some problems with various things - fridge doors didn't seal closed so stuff got hot, Window in upstairs bedroom had no gutter so rain dripped down from roof into room via open window, loo seats were loose and turned round in use. Curtain in downstairs room over door had to be lifted to open door (too long) and there were many dead insects under it. We completed the maintenance book for all things wrong so hopefully they will be fixed. Accommodation was good and we found plenty of spaces for such a large group of 16 with ages 2.5 - 75 yrs. We would go back if opportunity arose. Our main problem was outside seating was poor and there was no shade. Also, no place outside which was grassed over and suitable for children to play."
