"Beautiful location, the village is a quiet, fairly sleepy Cornish town. You are literally on the beach, which is lovely, however, you are in an upstairs flat with very little outside space (and none that you can call your own for sure). We were unlucky with the weather, it was atrocious, now obviously that is not the accommodation’s fault, but it did highlight a few issues, windows were very old, handles were falling off of some of them. We used folded cardboard between the frame and window handle to keep one window in the lounge closed during a particularly severe storm, because the lock on the window did not engage at all. Another review mentioned the neighbours downstairs, they are still there, and they turn their music on between 7 and 8 pm each night. It is not loud enough to be anti-social, in fact, it is quiet enough that a decent carpet and underlay would solve the problem, but the carpet dates from I'm unsure how long ago so it is of little use in that regard (by the same token I would apologise to them for my wonderful children waking up at 5am every day). The kitchen was reasonably presented, but on opening cupboards, we found mould that had not been cleaned under the sink. The Fire Blanket would not stay in its box, it kept falling out, and the fire extinguisher was last serviced in 2010 I think it said. A handle fell off one of the closet doors on our first day. This criticism is not alone to this accomnodation, but if you are marketing a holiday home to families with children, put black out curtains in the children's rooms! The owner had left cake, fresh bread and various bits and pieces for warm drinks which were very welcome.Outside, you have the appearance of a council house, 4 flats served by a grey concrete floor about 2ft above the beach, no furnishings, no "prettification" if such a word exists. It is a stark contrast to the other holiday cottages further along the beach. There is no Wi-Fi - the owner did kindly offer to have his brother's Wi-Fi made available to us as he lives downstairs, but that made us uncomfortable so we did not take advantage of the kind offer. We did struggle to get hold of the owner in advance (the mailbox on the phone was full), however when I did leave a message the owner called back very quickly and told us we could pick the key up from a shop in the village, offered the use of his brothers internet and was a very lovely chap to speak to.My own opinion: if you are on a budget, I would not advise you to go elsewhere, the accommodation is okay. But if you have a little more to spend, I would look elsewhere, and certainly personally, we would seek a place with an outside area so we can be sure we are not annoying any downstairs neighbours at the ungodly hours my children wake up."

"The house itself is really stunning, very spacious and set in beautiful gardens. The location we found was quite good to and in easy reach of many of the lovely beaches and different places to visit! However the one reason we didn't score higher in other areas is we felt the house needed updating in some areas to make it worth the money being charged for a weeks stay. The cleanliness let it down and think the house does need a good clean which I do also appreciate is difficult to do in a few hours turnaround! Also the mattresses could do with replacing as they are very uncomfortable and the advertised washing machine was very temperamental. The games room is a lovely addition for the kids but again the pool table was very old and ripped, the Xbox had a lead missing so couldn't b played so wasn't really much to do in there. Not giving a bad report just pointing out a few little things that could maybe be improved to make the property better value for money, at present we thought it was quite expensive for the standard you are getting. There is a fabulous snooker table covered over in the conservatory, we think this could b a great asset and suggest the owner could perhaps charge a refundable deposit if he was worried about damages? All in all we enjoyed our stay and the owner couldn't have been more helpful as we had a few problems with the gas and electric initially!!"

"Nice location, pleasant 30 minute walk to the nearest beach (no dogs on the beach here though, had to drive to find a beach we could use). Friendly and helpful caretaker (owners were away). We arrived to the shower, cooker hood, and a light in the hall not working. The shower and light were repaired on the day we reported and an electrician called to the cooker hood the next day. The Kitchen could have been better lit and slightly better equiped (no coffee cafetier), and there absolutely nothing provided- no welcome pack of a few tea bags, no hand soap, washing up liquid etc- simply 1 sponge, 1 bin bag, and 1 very small tea towel. Unfortunately the curtain in the bedroom smelt musty, and the shower curtain and bathroom curtain had mold. Not adequate storage space in bedroom to unpack clothes into. Most upsettingly the matress was very uncomfortable, (poor quality and old, so not supportive and you could feel every spring) so we were stiff and sore and didn't sleep very well on our relaxing holiday. Wifi only worked if you sat outside in the courtyard or in the laundry room (not the owers fault, but perhaps it should be advertised with 'wifi available on the complex' rather than in the property). Lovely part of the world, lovely people, but a bit dissapointed in the quality of accomodation."

"This holiday home has such potential – in a lovely location, quiet and rural, but only a few miles from shops etc. It looks lovely from the outside, with a large rear garden and plenty of private parking. To the front is a courtyard with other smaller holiday properties which are part of the same development. The house is spacious, and perfect for large groups. Sadly though, inside, the house and furniture are a little ‘tired’ in places. Loose taps, broken microwave, leaky shower, uncomfortable mattresses and broken garden furniture/childrens outdoor play equipment were some of the irritations, but the worst thing was the cleanliness – particularly in the kitchen (which is a shame as it is potentially such a lovely space). We appreciate everyone has different standards of cleanliness, but for this price we expected better (and judging by previous reviews, we aren’t the only ones to think this). The only other thing to point out is the warning about the “open-tread staircase”, it needs to be updated to read “tall, open-tread, wrought iron, spiral staircase”, as whilst a beautiful feature, it isn’t suitable for toddlers. All in all, this place has such potential, but sadly when we stayed, attention to detail let it down."

"My husband and I booked the rafters as it looked a little outdated but cosy and clean on the website, and the location was good- easy drive to the nearby beaches in North and not too far from the south of Cornwall. The property was a disappointment- On arrival there were cobwebs everywhere on the ceiling, dead spiders on top of the cupboard and dead beetles on the carpet. On our first night, we took out 11 huge spiders from different areas of the cottage, and no matter what the number of spiders and bugs increased on a daily basis. We were forced not to open any windows or doors to keep the bugs to the minimum. We had reported this to the owner however not much was done, hence I had to hoover the whole cottage and take out all the cob webs. I ended up with acute bronchitis due to dampness from staying at this cottage which was not a holiday my husband and I were looking for as a break before we have our baby. The property is quite outdated needs full renovation, has a small TV. We also booked this place as it was advertised it offers wifi connection, however we could hardly get any wifi. The games room had a snooker table that was not in a good condition and the sofas were filthy such that could not be used."
