"Location was superb. Easy walk down to the shops, cafes and river of Pooley Bridge, and the ferry terminal. Easy car access to much of that area of the Lake District. The view from the kitchen door is superb, and the one from the sitting room and dining room is OK.The exterior is nothing to write home about. Indeed, the outside area is virtually non-existent. The front is a tiny patch of paving slabs with a few shrubs and a bench (with a little step in front of it, not a big drop as they seemed so keen to warn us about in the listing). Other than that there is the tarmac drive and a bare paving slab path squeezing along the side to a hard area at the back for hanging out laundry, all surrounded by a shabby, falling-down fence. Previous visitors have obviously also come expecting space for children to run around and play, which has led to a big sign near the door warning not to play on the road or anywhere else other than the village sports field behind one of the pubs. This was fine for us given the weather, but I feel it is worth warning people who are attracted by the bunk beds into thinking it is perfect for children. It was possible to get a good wind through the bungalow, which was wonderful in the heatwave we were experiencing. The interior is very dated, to be polite. Actually, it is old enough to give the feel of being dirty and grubby even though it was actually clean. The free-standing fridge behind the kitchen door led to many collisions as opening the fridge door blocked the opening of the door to the rest of the house. The en-suite furnishings were a depressing brown and the majority of furniture throughout looked like a mismatch of things picked up in cheap auctions. The beds in the twin room were seriously uncomfortable, leaving me with back pain every morning (and this from someone who is happy camping). The shower in the main bathroom had the knob on backwards; I spent a very long time trying to work out why it was running cold before I found it mentioned in the visitors' book by a previous holiday-maker.Only one small roll of toilet paper was left in each bathroom, so you should remember to bring your own. Similarly, be prepared with your own cooking oil and all other kitchen staples. In summary, it is in a good location for visiting that part of the Lakes, but you'll want to spend as little time in the actual bungalow as possible."

"Garden Cottage is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. We were there at Christmas 2018. The house itself is old and beautifully restored. It's spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of six. Dave and Angie are fantastic hosts. They had decorated the house with a huge tree and lots of festive touches, and left us a thoughtful and delicious gift. They also helped us by providing some extra kitchen equipment when we wanted to bake and even called us up quickly when we left some items behind. In terms of the accommodation, there are four bedrooms. Two are doubles, one is a twin and one is a single. The single has a TV. There are two bathrooms, one serving the bigger double and one serving the other double, the twin and the single. The kitchen is well equipped, although the oven has slight idiosyncrasies which we had to work around. The best room though is the living room which has big comfy sofas and armchairs and a large wood burner. We enjoyed cosy evenings there, but there is also a patio directly outside the living room which would be fantastic in the summer. There are bird feeders out on the patio and there was a constant stream of birds making the most of the food. All in all we would highly recommend this holiday home and would like to return for another visit in the future. Thank you Dave and Angie."

"Wonderfully spacious ,well equipped comfortable cottage with a roomy yet cosy vaulted lounge that provides the perfect space for a family group to gather in and relax at the end of the day.Garden cottage is situated in a very peaceful location on a working farm just outside Pooley Bridge, the village centre is just a two minute drive away or a pleasant ten minute riverside walk across a field . The farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the tops of the fells and glimpses of Ullswater can be seen from the grounds. The owners who live on site are extremely helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay and would definitely return."

"This cottage met our needs very well indeed (7 adults + 1 nine month granddaughter) The cottage is situated on a holiday static caravan site which we though would be busy given the August high season slot however there was absolutely no need for concern the site was as quite as a mouse and so peaceful. To find fault with the cottage would be nitpicking and undue. Any one in our party would be happy to rent this property again. It’s also very well situated to explore the lakes and just 10mins from the M6."

"I have put said all my feedback about this in the first part part of this survey. My review was that the accommodation was fully equipped, well furnished and comfortable to relax in. The accommodation's layout was good and it was pet friendly. The amenities and facilities were great and it was nice that the accommodation was warm and inviting. As the accommodation was spacious we could all relax. Good ambiance in nice setting and surrounding. Pretty furnishings to make the accommodation feel homely."
