"This is the second time in 6 months that we’ve visited the Bothy. We went for a short break in February but a whole week this time. The owners are lovely, nothing is too much trouble & the cottage has everything you could need and then more, even down to a pint of milk in the fridge, tea & coffee in the kitchen & a packet of biscuits to welcome you!! After a bad experience on a holiday park, we wanted something much more peaceful.....& that’s what we found at this beautiful, tranquil place. Our son has made friends on the farm and been able to enjoy herding sheep & checking cows. The zip wire has provided many hours of fun!! Penrith is a 20 minute drive away and there is a retail park just off the motorway with an Aldi, Iceland and Home Bargains should the need arise. There are lots of things to do within about a 30-45 minute drive. Carlisle is also about 20 minutes away with lots of restaurants, a Vue cinema & obviously the Castle!! The kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washer/dryer, microwave and all the usual pots & pans. There is even a slow cooker, panini press & a hand blender!! Although we didn’t need the heating this time it was lovely and warm in February. The beds are lovely & comfortable & both bathrooms have towels & toiletries. It’s a lovely peaceful location but a car is needed to see the local area. However the lanes are quiet enough to walk along and enjoy the scenery. We are already planning our next trip back, it’s everything we could possibly want from a holiday."

"The Cobbles needs someone who owns it to live in it for a week and work out what's missing! Not enough kitchen utensils / cookware / crockery / cutlery. Little point in having a full size dish washer if you need to put it on after every meal - Not very Eco Friendly. There is no Wifi - we were told that it 'comes and goes' - after we booked, which is not really acceptable - had we known there was limited or no internet connection we would not have considered it. The description of the property wherever we have found it advertised states that there is wifi so it is clearly misleading. Mobile service on EE is terrible at the location. There is a constant drone of traffic from M6 & West Coast Mainline (you can only hear this when outside the property). The hot tub needs a good service, some new head rests and needs to be maintained with chemicals - bromine or chlorine to control the bugs and something to reduce the calcium level which will help prevent the head rests turning white & discharging powder. It's not safe to run this kind of thing without some chemicals, even if you do change the water regularly! We did enjoy our stay and are not making a complaint in an effort to gain anything. We own holiday property ourselves that is rented out and would like people to tell us what would improve the experience."

"Unfortunately the lodge smelt damp when we arrived and on returning in the evenings. There were also fly traps on most Windows which was not very nice so see on our arrival. Overall we made the most of it and enjoyed the peace and quiet it provided us. Lovely to sit out with a glass of wine. Parking is excellent. Easy access to lots of interesting areas. Guide leaflets were a great help. Local garden centre cafe was a treat, great afternoon tea. The oven knobs have no numbers on the dials so Its all guess work and the grill didn't work, which was shame. The views were amazing, log fire so warming and cosy on an evening and it helped us thoroughly enjoy our time there. Bed comfortable and we slept well. Cosy quilt so warm. Bathroom heated towel rail a nice touch. Lovely to talk instead of googling, but the Internet was great when we needed it. Some amazing walks around and about and for those who like running, I used the private road from the cottage to the main road to do my 3 miles. No pegs to hang out washing. Some small minor touches that would help. A refurb and charging extra next year would be an idea, as worth it."

"The cottage was exactly as described on the website. It was refreshing to book somewhere and the photo images represented exactly what we got on arrival. The views from the rear of the property were just breath taking. The only negative that I have about the cottage is the bathroom. I had to go out and buy a non-slip bath mat as the one in the property was no longer sticking to the bath. The shower due to it being over the bath could do with a safety handle fixing to the wall to help steady people as I actually fell getting into the shower one morning due to my disability. This is the only negative point the welcome with the bottle of wine and fresh flowers was a lovely touch. I will definitely be rebooking the property as it was lovely and cosy and very comfortable. it lived up to my expectations and more."

"The cabin is in a really nice position at the end of the road looking over fields. The cabin had everything you could need and the en-suite in the main bedroom was great as well as a full size bath. Plenty of games and books if needed although we were blessed with lovely weather. A nice outside terrace with table and chairs was great. The whole cabin was so roomy and had lots of little features that made the stay even better. Just the large open cupboard just inside the front door is perfect for coats and boots - the whole place is well thought out. Only possible issue for some is the cabin is located at the top of a short stone drive that is steep and the outside grassed area is also on a steep bank. This could be difficult with small children on adults with mobility issues. However - we loved it!"
