Glenridding is a wonderful lakeside village, hugging the southern edge of Ullswater in the wondrous Lake District National Park. Some of the pubs overlook the picturesque Ullswater lake where you can try your hand at some exhilarating outdoor pursuits, or perhaps take a soothing cruise on one of the Ullswater Steamers. Spend the day in Grasmere where you can tour Wordsworth Grasmere, the stunning former cottage of William Wordsworth, or alternatively travel to Windermere, home to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Orrest Head Viewpoint and Holehird Gardens; Ambleside is within easy reach from here and boasts Beatrix Potter's former home at Hill Top, a popular attraction all year round.
