What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Elterwater.
Mr Williams - verified booking
" What a thoughtful touch to have provided a Christmas tree, complete with lights to greet us as we arrived after a long journey! The cottage was well situated and especially suited to walking holidays. Everywhere was clean and fresh, especially the bathroom, which had an effective electric shower. A good kitchen, well kitted out with everything one would probably need to cater for two, with a well stocked and friendly Co-op shop within easy walking distance. No problem parking, though this might prove a problem at busier times of the year. As always when renting a cottage there were a few niggles, most of which would be simple to remedy, but nothing to detract from our overall enjoyment. We were grateful for the courtesy call from Sykes to check that everything was OK. This was the first time we had rented a cottage for Christmas and will certainly consider using Sykes again in the future. Thank you. "

" The cottage was fabulous, all I would suggest adding to the listing is whether loo roll, washing up liquid etc is provided. We were advised when I checked to bring everything just in case, but in the end all I used of my own was hand soap - cleaning products, tea towels and a few loo rolls were already there. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we really enjoyed the bath. We did find the fabric conditioner used for the linens on the strong side perhaps but everything was spotless. The kitchen was well kitted out. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to return again. Beautiful quiet location with great views and lots of bird song "

" Nice quiet location with walks on your doorstep and a lovely bath for a nice soak after days spent on the fells. Weather exceptional for this time of year as well. The only thing I can think of which would be of benefit to the cottage if people were staying longer would be a washer/dryer in place of the dishwasher as you would still be able to wash the dishes in the sink. Just thinking of all those muddy clothes at different times of the year. "

"We've stayed with two other holiday firms in the Lakes and on both occasions found a good deal more information about local walks, etc including detailed maps and descriptions at both properties. Bank Cottage unfortunately was badly lacking on this score, apart from a small book about pub walks in the Lakes generally. It would be helpful to future visitors if you had more leaflets/advice/recommendations about walks in the immediate area - some of which can be done right from the front door. ..."
