We stayed at Dormouse cottage during the Feb half term.
Here are our comments: Good points: Able to get into the property easily, and actually got an email the day before saying it had already been cleaned so we could arrive whatever time we wanted. Beds all very clean and comfy, we all slept brilliantly Cute, traditional cottage, with many features you would expect (this properly has steep stairs and low beams as you would expect a cottage to have) Bathroom clean with a brand new seal on shower screen, so no leaks when using the shower Fully enclosed rear garden to let our dog out into, this was great Good TV that worked well, and really good wifi even with multiple devices connected Microwave, fridge, cooker and other kitchen appliances all clean and worked fine. Warm and easy to heat to the temperature you want Arrived to a bottle of wine, tea and coffee making things and pre packeted biscuits waiting for us, this was a lovely touch! Not so good points: Other than the basics you would expect some areas of the cottage needed a good clean. I think this isnât helped by all the decorative items around the cottage. I went prepared and wiped round with detox wipes. The sofa wasnât great and was covered in dog hair. We spent about 20 minutes hoovering this. It did have a lot of scatter cushions and blankets on it so we removed these and didnât put them back on then gave it a good hoover. The front door was quite stiff and needed a good pull / push to make sure it was shut properly. Others have commented on the noise from the windows, we didnât really notice this too much and it definitely wasnât an issue for us. Overall we had a great stay. It was comfy, we slept well and could easily sort food etc. The location is also great with plenty of things to do in and around the village. Plus our 7 year old son also really enjoyed it and slept well. Since returning the owner of the cottage contacted us for feedback and was genuinely interested in what we had to say and how he can make improvements. Again, Another great touch! Thanks for a lovely stay, we are booking for a return visit later in the year!

Very disappointing and dirty cottage.
It needs a huge amount of work done to it - painting, new windows etc⦠Generally in need of a thorough deep clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, the house smelled awful when we arrived but realised this is because of the hoover - which stank to high heaven when you used it. The carpet is filthy and stained. Windows looked like they hadnât been cleaned for over 6 months. Some windows are rotten. The towels were stained with yellow marks. Behind the bed was disgusting! Itâs not at all like the photos on Sykes or Dream Cottages website- the sofa is grey and grubby - not cream, the table is too big for the cottage and not white. It is very poorly stocked - the only saving grace was that we ate out every night. There were no cleaning products apart from washing up liquid and multi surface cleaner - so had to use that to clean the bathroom and mop the floor before we left. Donât know why we were provided with dishwasher tablets as thereâs no dishwasher and I certainly wouldnât wash my clothes with dishwasher tablets. Also situated on a very busy, noisy road - donât think that you will enjoy a peaceful breakfast outside as trucks and cats rush past! A very overpriced and underwhelming cottage. We contacted Sykes about a few things and they did offer to get a cleaner in on the Thursday - we said it wasnât worth it but hoped that the cottage would be cleaned properly for the next guests. They also provided us with a clothes airer (as weâd had to drape washing over shower screens, radiators etcâ¦) and a new cafetière on the Thursday. I do feel they need to update their photos and description of the property as it is definitely NOT the way it appears on their site. However, Burton Bradstock is a beautiful village with fabulous walks and places to eat - just donât stay in this cottage!

Thimble Cottage is a wonderful little place for a getaway.
Easy to get to and the sat nav takes you right to the door. The whole property looks bright and fresh and the lovely big garden and outside areas are 100% secure for your dogs. Even the most accomplished 4 legged escape artist would have to go some to get out. We had a Great Dane and a Chocolate Labrador and they loved the freedom to be able to wander around and bask in the sun. There a nice welcome pack for both your dogs and yourselves and this was a nice touch. The kitchen has everything that you could wish for and itâs unlikely that youâll find yourself wanting for any utensil, pan or crockery. Dishwasher and washing machine both have tablets and capsules to suit the length of the stay. It has a smart TV with more than enough channels to keep you entertained. WiFi is good and allows communication to the rest of the world. (The mobile phone signal in a great deal of the surrounding area is a bit patchy.) The property sits just off the road through the village, but you do not get disturbed by what little traffic comes through. Itâs in a great location to explore the local area and 30-40 minutes gets you to an abundance of sights. Would thoroughly recommend Thimble Cottage for your next getaway. Parking for one large car and an EV charging point if required.

Blueberry cottage is very nice, well maintained and modern, warm, good facilities, enjoyable place to stay.
The location, almost equidistant between Weymouth and Dorchester and in a quiet village is excellent. On the downside, car parking is a problem. There is no designated parking spot for the cottage and the locals are extremely possessive of any spaces going, including in front of the cottage itself. We parked as far as 200 yards away opposite the village pub. A minor problem concerns the loo which is on the ground floor off the kitchen. Navigating steep stairs from the bedroom in the night to visit the loo is not ideal. Almost reminds me of early years, at least this loo is inside! On a wider issue, why do Sykes insist on Friday to Friday lettings? Friday is the worst day of the week for road travel. Arriving on holiday in an unfamiliar place fraught from Friday travel is not the best start to a holiday. We use other holiday cottage agencies who are happy with Saturday to Saturday lettings and I'm afraid whilst Sykes continue with this Friday to Friday situation, we shall prioritise those other agencies for cottage bookings.

The cottages was very pleasant, clean and comfortable.
The only thing we would say negatively is the outside seating needs to be addressed as the chairs had no cushions and were most uncomfortable without. The only other downside is the parking, we could not park outside of the cottage at all as the cars that were parked there when we arrived on the Friday evening didn't move all week, we therefore parked outside of the pub but when it is high season and busy that may prove very difficult to do. Other than these two little niggles we had a lovely week and enjoyed the cottage very much. The best places to eat are The Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills and the Seven Stars at Moreton both of these are so much better than the pub in the village both food and atmosphere also The Crown Inn at Stickland does a really good Sunday roast.
