What our customers say about their holidays

    • Courtney - Verified booking

We visited in March 2024 for a week.

The area was lovely and quiet as out of season, the cottage is in an ideal location and we was able to walk to two nearby beaches. The Oyster Catcher just a 5 minute walk away is really nice, they serve great food and the staff were really friendly. We absolutely loved our week in Cornwall and visited lots of places, we would love to return to Trebetherick, but would not book this cottage again. The cottage is a good size and gets plenty of light, but it is not comfy or cosy for a holiday stay. The biggest disappointment for us was the sofa in the main living/kitchen area, it was so uncomfy to the point we started going to bed early at 8pm to just try and be comfy in the bedroom on an evening, after a long day exploring all you want to do on an evening is relax, not here, we even tried padding it out with quilts from the beds we weren't using. To simply put it the sofa desperately needs replacing. The TV in the living/kitchen area is really small, you just don't get that living room vibe here. The second smaller living room has a large TV and a slightly better sofa, but it is full of stains and generally just felt dirty, again we put a quilt over it to try and make it feel more relaxing, but this room was full of webs and spiders. The floors were dirty throughout the cottage, we kept slippers on at all times. Things like the cutlery drawer were really dirty and full of bits etc. If you have any young children consider that they will be sleeping downstairs whilst you are upstairs at the other side of the cottage, with long corridors/rooms between them and the main bedroom - there is a large distance between the main upstairs ensuite bedroom and the two bedrooms downstairs, both being right next to main doors leading outside. The cottage could be really lovely, but unfortunately it is not getting the maintenance it needs to make it a comfortable holiday cottage.

This is a large detached bungalow with substantial garden with lovely views from rear of property.

property description was accurate. Communication with the owner, Jo, was excellent as the booking was very much last minute. Advantages Huge kitchen with all facilities Large lounge King sized bed in one bedroom Plenty of storage space Free wifi Welcome pack Easy Off road parking More parking available in road Location Top of fairly steep hill of about 400 yards Quiet neighbourhood Small Londis about 600 yards away. Town centre just under a mile away with large Co-op, and large out of town Tesco (with very cheap petrol!) Close to Camel Trail Minor disadvantage Property is dog friendly, unfortunately the last visitor with a dog allowed their pet on the sofa, so I found dog hairs all over my clothes after using sofa. In addition they hadn’t removed their dog’s excrement from the garden. Overall - recommended as a great place to stay in Wadebridge.

Ideal location very close to beach and spar shop so ideal for those who like surfing.

Would have liked some leaflets in the property of local places to visit although still being winter places would still be closed for the season. Ideal for those who like walking as public foot path starts just a few yards away and offers wonderful views across the beach. Ample parking for one car at front of property. Access along a rough track with lots of huge pot holes which someone ought to fill in however it stops anyone racing along there so with children that is a good thing. There is a small shallow stream outside the property only a few inches deep but our kids couldn't resist getting wet feet every time they went near it All in all enjoyed it and owners kept in touch with the occasional text message and were very nice. Unfortunately I had no signal on my mobile in the area and had to go outside the village if I needed to use my phone. Would I go again? Certainly.

Disappointed with the cleaning - marks on the kitchen floor were pointed out to Sykes representative when we were let in.

We have stayed at this property twice before when it was managed by John Bray, since Sykes have taken over customer service levels have plummeted. The simple act of meeting the representative at the property was akin to a comedy farce. Sykes had phoned me earlier in the day and agreed a time to meet at the property, we arrived at the appointed time and nobody was there. Whilst we were phoning and going through the lengthy process to speak to someone the representative had left a message asking what time we would be available at the property!!! New property agents are now too large and bureaucratic to be able to deliver the level of service expected for this standard of property, Issue with swimming pool cover, that, we are told was a known issue as a replacement has been ordered, reported on Sunday dealt with on Wednesday losing three good weather days.

The interior of the cottage was very small and cramped certainly not suitable for 6 people.

There was only just enough room to facilitate 4 people in the lounge area either to eat or watch TV. The bedrooms were as described with the double bedroom situated at the front of the ground floor cottage. The only problem with that was that if the toilet was needed during the night one had to negotiate the lounge and kitchen areas to get to the bathroom which was situated towards the rear of the premises. The furnishings were basic and in need of replacement particularly the dining table. The private patio at the rear is just a small yard bereft of daylight. The only positive thing I can say about the property is its location, less than 5 minutes walk to the beach and the centre of Polzeath although one has to negotiate a ford across the unmade lane just yards from the premises. I would not book this place again.
