What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Tyler - Verified booking

We had the most amazing week at the Hideaway, we visit Cornwall every year and this is one of the best cottages we have stayed at, we will definitely be back. We really loved the welcome pack of Cornish tea, coffee, and biscuits plus the pack for the dishwasher/washing was very useful. Every detail had been thought about, we used the washing machine once for the towels which was great! It was very handy to have a shark hoover to keep the floors clean. The beds were very comfortable, as was the sofa and dining area. The furniture and pictures were beautiful which added to the beach aesthetic, It was a home from home. We were lucky to have the most gorgeous weather, we went to Man beaches over seven days, we really enjoy travelling around Cornwall each time we come and discovering new places, we have stayed near Bodmin several times as we find this quite central for exploring. Plus, we love staying down the country lanes in the middle of nowhere it adds to the adventure. Recommendations: Carlyon Bay was our favourite, Polzeath, Watergate Bay, Harlyn Bay, Padstowe, Tolcarne Beach (best sunset) mawgan porth, fistral beach, great western beach. We had a meal at the Travellers Rest which we really enjoyed and the Lanivet Inn which had lots of choice of food! we also went to Wadebridge and had fish and chips. There is a local spa shop in Wadebridge and lots of supermarkets on our travels, the Hideaway has everything you need for cooking. The Tyler Family

The property was renovated and equipped to a very high standard.

The maintenance and cleanliness however left much to be desired. All the points raised by previous occupants had not been actioned. The outside patio was piled high with blown leafs and the patio furniture could not be used. The front door glass had bird poo smeared across it, all the outside lights did not work, including one broken solar light. Internally the sofas were old and dirty, many bulbs needed replacing in the kitchen area including one internal bank of 3 which needed completely replacing. The fridge fell forward when the door was opened with items in the door, the upstairs shower was leaking through the ceiling, the cooker top had slid back meaning the numbers that you touched for using the hob did not correspond with the number for the respective control, the hoover was full and the cylinder was wedged on which I managed to release and empty. The heating controls were set on holiday which meant it was cold during the night. The biggest problem was there was no welcome pack with instructions on the equipment in the house, the surrounding area or where to walk your dog. Everyone we met kept saying the cottage was surrounded by private land which is odd for cottage boasting dog friendly environment. The Sykes maintenance man called and when shown the items above, was embarrassed and agreed that while the points were minor, collectively it was not very good for the price charged.

We enjoyed a short break in mid September at The Coach House.

It was well appointed, in a peaceful rural location with excellent proximity to Trevibban Mill Vineyard. The weather was mixed, with strong winds, we did a lot of walking around the stunning coastline and we were pleased to be able to light the wood burning stove at the house in the evenings. Recommendations to eat out include The Duchy Grub in Higher Harlyn & Four Boys in Rock (via the Padstow ferry). Please be aware that the undercounter fridge nearest the kitchen steps/door is a liability. It is not fixed in securely and tips forward if you load the door compartments. We unfortunately lost a bottle of wine due to this fridge falling forward! Some of the pillows on the beds we used are very lumpy … these could do with replacing. The above elements can easily be made good to make this property great. All in all a lovely break.

We had a fantastic week at The Coach House: Everything was to a high standard and the interiors were particularly impressive; from the art work, to the bedroom design and the en suites especially.

It felt like a family holiday home not simply a souless holiday let. There were new, very comfy, sofas in the lounge, and the 'snug' upstairs was very much appreciated by the teenagers in the family, plus the wi-fi was excellent, which was essential as there was zero phone signal. The location was perfect - quiet and off the beaten track, but not isolated, and close enough to main roads to travel to Padstow in a few minutes. And the supermarket delivery van found it in pitch black with no problems! The big garden was great, and loved by the children and the dog, and would be amazing in summer. There were a few little niggles with the kitchen equipment and layout, but we're keen cooks and these are very minor, tho' a microwave would be useful. I'd recommend the house to anyone and we would be back again in a heartbeat.

Positive: A beautiful house in a beautiful location with a wonderful enclosed garden.

Negative: 1. Bathroom shower to the main bedroom upstairs was blocked by previous guests, it took until Wednesday afternoon until it was addressed and fixed! 2. Picture 7, 8 and 9 in the property description is misleading! There are no chairs in the property to provide seating at the end of the table! 3. Not enough seating provided for 8 people in the lounge and kitchen! We used the patio chairs (3) inside to accommodate. 4. Parking is good for 4 cars, however when we had 4 cars parked for 1 day and for 1 hour a 5th car, the owner left a message with the Customer Relations Team, any cars over 3 should be parked in the top car park! If we had known this, we would have parked there. It is nowhere mentioned in the information pack online or in the property! 5. Leaving time of 9.30am is too early!
