What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Morgan - Verified booking

Inside the property there is more space than expected. Some real thought has gone into the layout. However the two swivel chairs are in an awful state! The shower drain was completely clogged with hair and the toilet brush was disgusting. We only had one set of pure white linen/towels for a two week stay. I did expect a bundle to be left for the second week even if we had to change it ourselves. There is a lose bannister at the bottom of the staircase. We had a day if very bad weather and the window in the lounge area leaked and we had to mop up water on the windowsill and floor. The front door has gaps around it and the wind blows in and it rattles loudly. It’s is also very noisy with both traffic passing and people walking past chatting. It is as though they are in the room with you. The ‘summer house’ outside was unusable as were the sun loungers. We had hoped to just relax and watch the sea but there were only hard benches to sit on. Even the foldable chairs where cracked and we were worried they would break. The summer house itself smelt stale and musty. The floor was very uneven and the whole place was damp. If the owners expect to charge top prices they need to quickly spend some money on the upkeep of the property and quality of some of the furniture. Overall we feel we have been very let down!!! I have several photographs but there is nowhere to post them. Somehow I don’t find that surprising.

The location of the property was idyllic. BUT in poor weather conditions it would be too cramped, as no sofas or comfortable seating, and the living accommodation is too small. The locks on both the front doors and the door to the garden are DIABOLICAL, stiff and very hard to operate, and one day someone is going to break the keys, and get stuck !! These need changing. The decorative condition needs attention, all window/door frames need work, and so does much of the plaster work inside the cottage. Kitchen/bathroom are well appointed. Nice to have own parking space. Garden furniture was covered in bird muck on arrival and we had to wash this, the cleaners should have done this. The clothes drier needs replacing, too rusty to use and broken in parts. Generally the property needs a fair bit of maintenance and TLC. The garden is unkempt and disappointing. Everything looks very tired.

Cottage is in a good location however it is worth noting it is at the top of a steep hill. Porthleven is beautiful with the shingle beach and working harbour. There are lots of small independent shops and some lovely places to eat including the Harbour Inn (the seafood sharing platter was delicious) Porthleven is very dog friendly and this made our holiday even more enjoyable. Parking at the cottage is great and the garden is lovely. We had great weather and it would be helpful to have a garden parasol and some outdoor seat cushions. Inside the cottage the sofas, could do with updating as unfortunately they are tired and rather uncomfortable. Two of the bedrooms have king sized beds (we slept very well) and there is plenty of storage. Porthleven is a great base for visiting Falmouth, the Lizard Peninsula, St Ives and St Michael’s Mount.

Fantastic holiday cottage in perfect location. The upper floor gives perfect views of the pier and the sea rolling in. Happily spent time just watching that. There are some very steep stairs to the attic room however so need to be aware of in case there are any mobility issues. The cottage has everything you need come rain or shine and the quality of everything in the cottage was excellent. Cottage cleaning adapted to ensure all Covid safe. Location was perfect, right near the harbour and with beautiful walks on your doorstep. Good bus service if you want to explore further afield but don't want to take the car. No parking at cottage but street parking round the corner with no issues taking up resident spots etc. On arrival easy enough to ramp up outside cottage to unload then park up when done.

Grandad's Net Loft is in a good location with fabulous views. Lovely clean white sheets and towels, a nice welcome with a vase of flowers some scones and jam and a pint of milk. The kitchen area was fine, it's small, but we weren't cooking lots, so it was ok. Plenty of space for clothes and lots of coat hangers. However, the whole place is tired and needs some love. A coat of paint might help, a table would be more useful than footstools. The photos you see on the website were taken when the chairs were new - they don't look like that now. We didn't sit in the summerhouse - too many cobwebs and it needs painting and a new floor. It seems expensive for the standard, but I guess you're paying for the view. We had a lovely holiday - would I book it again - maybe if it was spruced up a bit.
