    About this property

Sample the delights of this friendly fishing town whilst staying at this cottage, and take a boat trip to observe the birdlife on Coquet Island.
Turnstone is a comfortable, mid-terraced holiday home just a short stroll from the centre of this friendly fishing town, which has a working harbour, marina and nearby beach. Wander around and discover some lovely little restaurants and eating places, as well an award-winning ice cream shop and two fish and chip shops by the harbour. The small pod-style shopping area has proved popular with both visitors and locals, and lies next to the busy Sunday market and lobster hatchery. Boat trips are available from here to Coquet Island to see the rspb bird sanctuary.
The historic village of Warkworth is 2 miles along the coast with its hillside castle, pubs, bespoke shops and pretty riverside walks. Many locals love to walk from Amble to Warkworth and admire the river view and castle on the way. A few miles further on lies the ducal town of Alnwick, with its famous castle featured in the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey TV series. The water gardens with its spectacular grand cascade and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant should not be missed.
Amble is on the edge of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Heritage coastline with some of the most unspoilt beaches and picturesque coastline in England, along with plenty of footpaths and cycle paths. Amble makes a great location for exploring the whole of this unspoilt county, and has all the amenities you need on your doorstep, so you can leave your car behind and enjoy an evening out at one of the local eateries. "The holiday cottage was homely, clean, well equipped and ideally situated. However the parking situation is challenging."
    Margaret ‐ 5 Oct 2018
"very homely with appliances that were very easy to use. except the shower one flooded the bathroom floor. Parking a real issue with neighbours makes things difficult but I think you are sorting this out. and the man did apologise, furniture too low for us . we loved our holiday and I am sure the issues will be ironed out but we do prefer the harbour side of Amble, , so next time we will look for something there, the office girls were wonderful and very helpful it would have been awful without them, God bless you Margaret Spence"

"Great comfortable house in good location for exploring this beautiful area. Had a very comfortable stay. As others have said, parking is the only issue - we only once got to park outside the house even though the neighbour's "reserved" space was always empty. Better just to give up and park on the nearby main road for simplicity. Highly recommended house."

"Would recommend this Cottage, had a lovely stay"
    William ‐ 23 Sep 2018
"Parking very problematic. Very narrow road so not enough parking spaces. Very tight parking to rear of property. I feel we were rather misled with the description 'On Road Parking' on the website. There simply is not enough room for all the residents cars.Overgrown weeds around front entrance, dirty windows, the yard for sitting was tiny, not a nice place to sit at all. Bathroom mirror dirty, no curtains or blinds at bathroom window (ridiculous). Shower drain full of hair etc, obviously not cleaned regularly. Only half hearted cleaning had been done. No replacement bin bags. No spare toilet rolls. However, bed linen and towels were very clean."

"Great location on Northumberland coast, with great beaches, castles etc all so close and so convenient for restaurants, pub, shops and of course best fish and chips on the harbour."
    Helen ‐ 20 Aug 2018
"Fabulous newly renovated house. Had everything we could possibly need. Location perfect for exploring the Northumbria coast. As no doubt the owners will be aware the shower tray is far to low & needs attention before holiday makers who are not careful cause the bathroom floor to flood. Already before our stay evidence where water has leaked through the ceiling into the dining room. Other than that, perfect"

"As a family of 4 we had a really lovely stay at Turnstone. The property is brilliantly situated in Amble allowing you to visit lots of different nearby areas. We felt very much at home and comfortable there and will hopefully make a return visit soon."

"Stayed week commencing 13th July, comfortable cottage, good location for shops, restaurants, pubs and harbour, nice walk to Warkworth which is worth a visit, we personally didn't have parking issues as previous reviews have commented on."
    Patricia ‐ 18 Jul 2018
"Well equipped cottage .Situated well within the area , within easy walking distance of, shops, marina, harbour , restaurants and cafe."
    Lorraine ‐ 10 Jun 2018
"Great place to stay comfortable well appointed house, but comes with parking issues with the surrounding neighbours."
    Graeme ‐ 23 May 2018
"Lovely cottage, centrally located , but hidden away. Couple of mins walk to pub/Indian and grocery shops, 6/7 minute walk to the harbour. Great base for exploring the coast, especially Farne Islands, Bamburgh and Holy Island. As a keen bird watcher plenty of local sites with a lovely little reserve Hauxley just outside the town run by the Northumberland Wildlife trust and a place where you can see Red Squirrels.Convenient for train as well if you fancy a trip to Newcastle or Edinburgh as Alnmouth station is 10 minute drive. We went to York which was 90 mins. Another great thing is to walk from Amble following the course of the River Coquet to Warkworth which is a lovely village with interesting shops (super art gallery - Fenwicks), a great castle and interesting church. Plenty of pubs to eat in as well.If there is a small negative parking in the road is difficult. Very little space when we arrived and the neighbours all seem to have 'their' spot which is frowned upon if you park there. It wasn't a big deal as I parked on the road adjoining which was leass than a minute away."

"We were privileged to be the first to stay at this comfortable and well equipped accommodation. It was quiet and an excellent location to shops, restaurants etc. There were a couple of occasions when parking was a slight problem."
