"A quirky cottage with plenty of space though both sitting rooms were quite small. Loved the access to nearby walks & permissive access to estate grounds & wood as we had a dog & 2 boisterous toddlers.Beds & bedrooms were cosy but shower facilities poor - the existing shower needs a new shower unit as it had erratic function. Perhaps owners could consider creating another shower in the large utility area downstairs & /or creating a proper over bath shower unit.Danger alert !! -a permanent child safety gate is ESSENTIAL at top of the extremely steep staircase. We should have been warned that no gate was supplied. There was alot of toxic cleaning fluids within child reach which should have proper safe storage .the sole Plug-in night light was not functioning (bedroom corridor with 2 or 3 levels.) Would benefit from a light in 3 areas. Luckily we brought 2 of our own as no one was available to deal with it.We loved the large kitchen with comfy chairs but it lacked sufficient work surfaces.Hand towels lacking in kitchen & toilet areas. The general character & setting of the property was ideal as a peaceful getaway in a beautiful area."

"Absolutely brilliant cottage, full of character, lovely rooms and a great location. Just far enough away from the busier parts of the lakes...Great views, easy to get to Keswick and Cockermouth. We all had a great holiday!"

"I really liked Laundry Cottage. It’s a bit quirky but Very clean, comfortable and cosy. All 4 bedrooms have a very welcoming and country house feel and I especially liked the beds which were not only very comfy but had lovely crisp linen. It had all the necessary amenities and the large separate utility room was a bonus although was a pity we couldn’t access the house via the utility room door.So why have i not given the cottage a higher score. Well there were areas where the property didn’t come up to other places we’ve visited. the kitchen diner is very large but had surprisingly little work space. We were only two but I think it would be a struggle with a bigger group. there was a plentiful supply of kitchen stuff and dishes but we did struggle when it came to smaller serving dishes and bowls. some of the pans could do with a refresh.Several of the sash windows seem to be painted shut and we couldn’t open them.large bathroom but very small shower room but plenty of loos. The staircase is steep and narrow as are the individual steps so could be an issue with small children as we struggled with carrying bags upstairs even though both of us are pretty fit.The property is remote and up a pretty narrow lane. This is covered in the property description and is indeed part of its appeal. However you will have to drive to the nearest pub and no local small shop so it’s Keswick (10+ miles away for main shopping etc).It was really nice to have the history of the house but then there was little information on the surrounding area and sights to see.usually owners leave brochure etc to peruse. Directions to property good if entering from the south up to final few hundred metres when a little clearer explanation Or signage would be useful. We tended to do lunches out and dinner in. Doubt you’ll find Uber Eats here or even a take away that delivers so enjoy the opportunity to hone your cooking skills. Mobile signal non existent but the owners have installed a pay phone and we found the internet signal quite slow and a bit erratic.this does make laundry cottage a perfect ‘away from it all’ escape as it is a very quiet tranquil house with a cosy feel. You get lovely views across the valley and even the odd sighting of a red squirrel. It’s a great place to relax and this is why I would recommend it."

"OK for summer but a little chilly in autumn/ winter"

"Laundry cottage is a comfortable cottage in a very peaceful location. The furniture is of a high quality if a little dated. The fire in one of the sitting rooms is a beautiful addition and we used it every night. There are a few issues the main one being accessibility. Being an old building it seems like every room involved another step, being on different levels. The main staircase is very steep and unsuitable for the less mobile. Some general maintenance is required e.g lights not working including outside light. There were bits of tape over sockets etc. However it is excellent value for money and for larger groups recommended. A dishwasher and washing machine were very handy."

"Laundry Cottage was surprisingly spacious, even with our group of seven adults we didn't feel crowded. It is located in a peaceful, rural location away from the crowds, but close enough to the lakes when we wanted to visit. Being in the north lake district we were close enough to visit the coast on the Solway Fifth, and the historic city of Carlisle. We all enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful holiday, and we were lucky enough to see the red squirrel that sometimes visits the cottage garden. Lovely place and would highly recommend to anyone."

"2019 is the 4th year we have stayed in Laundry Cottage and, all being well, we shall continue to do so. I don't think there is any higher recommendation we can give. With regard to Local Amenities - we have given only 4 because you have to travel if you need to shop or want to eat out. This is the only area that is lacking.A tremendous place to enjoy a Lakeland holiday."

"Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The only issue from my side was the dishwasher didn’t work very well so we ended up hand washing all the crockery and cutlery. I would definitely recommend Laundry Cottage to others and visit again. Thank you!"

"Lovely sweet cottage with the woods on the doorstep which were great for the dogs. The cottage on the whole was reasonably well presented and fairly well equiped, the beds were all comfortable and the small lounge with the fire was a cosy spot for the evening . The distance to the shops is both an advantage and disadvantage depending on if you have run out of milk! but the area is so peaceful and beautiful. The cottage was big enough for the 5 of us [all adults] and 2 dogs but a little more work surface in the kitchen could have come in handy. We would all gladly return and indeed hope to do so in the future."

"A wonderful cottage with bags of room that allows everyone to have some space or come together. The grounds are brilliant and well worth exploring."
