What our customers say about their holidays

    • Richard - Verified booking

We liked the ‘Beach House’ very much - it was ample for our needs.

The beds were comfortable and it had a lovely large kitchen. It was a shame that the tumble dryer wasn’t working as we got extremely wet due to the weather and it would have been handy to dry clothes quickly. We found the heating controls problematic and one night when the temperature dropped we were struggling to keep warm. I don’t think the radiator in the kitchen ever came on during our stay. There were a few cobwebs and accompanying spiders on the stairwell/ceiling corners but no real problem. It was tricky to get in and out of the shower due to the towel radiator blocking the screen. We had to manouver over the toilet to get in and out, but the bathroom was lovely and warm. The owner might want to make it clear about the rubbish arrangements. It was confusing to have a council notice and recycle options but it would appear that there was no recycling because a business contract was in place for rubbish removal. The house was ideally situated for us, central to the places we wanted to visit and walkable to the pub. I also took the dog for a walk to Polzeath which was great.

      Lovely property but expensive.

Master bedroom needs a new mattress, too soft. Shower didn’t give hot shower, even when on full, just lukewarm, although the hot tap was hot. Water leaked from that shower (shower seal) near bedroom door. Dining table chairs were uncomfortable and impractical for the larger person. Garden table was not stable, chairs not the most comfortable Cold water tap in the kitchen gave a loud screeching noise, we got the plumber out who blamed the local water boards water stoppage, which led to air locks, went away whilst he was there but came back soon after.we had to wedge a bottle of soap underneath the tap to stop it, needs looking at, we have a video if needed. Thistles on the lawn made it difficult baby, also overhanging nettles could be an issue. Other improvements could be more full length mirrors , additional hanging space in the superking size bedroom. Bath towels could be bigger. The above list seems long, but would lift the overall level of offering. We still enjoyed our stay.

Loved our stay at Elmwood and will be back again.

Everything is just as the photos, really lovely, clean and modern with lots of little touches that make it feel homely but still with the feeling of a holiday house near the sea. We found it had everything we were looking for at a reasonable price. The garden is peaceful and quiet and lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine. You do need a car but everything is within easy reach and a short drive away. We found Trelights a good location in the middle of and not far at all from the popular spots that we visited , Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock , ferry to Padstow. We enjoyed walking down to the pretty little cove of Port Quin which was a lovely 20 min countryside walk from the house where you can join the costal path and walk all the way to Port Isaac or Polzeath in the other direction if you enjoy walking which we did a couple of times. Everything was lovely and we will be looking forward to our next visit.

Shrimpers cottage was a great base for our trip to Cornwall and we could not fault anything.

It was spotless, comfortable and tastfully decorated and had home from home vibe which is often lacking in some self catering accomodation. Kitchen had everything you need and outside space was larger than expected and a pleasant space to chill out after a day out. Bathroom had a great shower! Cottage is in a quiet location yet only a 5 minute stroll to the local pub and Bluntrock brewery (great atmosphere, live music and street food). A wonderful selection of local shops (butcher, baker/deli, fish and chip shop 10/10) are all within a 15 minute walk. Rock is around half hours walk away with great restaurants and the regular ferry over to Padstow. Rock is also a great base for a coastal walk to one of the many beaches in the area. Polzeath is certainly worth a visit, plenty of places to eat and a haven for watersports lovers! All in all, a fabulous holiday in a lovely cottage. Highly recommend!
