    • Toong - Verified booking

This cottage is in an excellent location, just seconds from the high street and pubs/restaurants.

The street is relatively quiet although there is foot traffic outside the window during the day. Rooms spacious for 2 adults and a dog at least. There is an enclosed courtyard for your dog, but it is not well kept and furniture not clean so not suitable for dining outside. Despite the listing describing off-road parking, practically there was no parking provided as you'd be very lucky to find a space. It was easy enough to unload outside the cottage though. The Green Car Park is the only car park in Beaumaris that provides weekly parking (at £25/week, as well as a refundable £10 deposit for the barrier card). It is only a short 5 minute walk away but you can only buy a pass between 9-4pm, so most guests won't be able to get a pass on the first day as arrival is currently 5pm earliest. Biggest problem was cleanliness - when we arrived we expected to do a little extra cleaning because of COVID but we were shocked by how dirty the place was. It was like someone cleaned the bathroom and forgot to do the rest of the cottage! This included raw fish juice in the microwave, crumbs on the counter/table, dog hair and dirt on all the floors, living room rug filthy with debris and high level dust everywhere. There also appeared to be some new damp forming on the ceiling above the fireplace in the main bedroom. We spent an hour cleaning the cottage as it was 7pm before noticing hair on the sheets and stains on the mattress protector which we didn't think we could sort out ourselves. We then complained to the housekeeping company and they were very apologetic and helpful, offering to clean the cottage (which we had already done so didn't need, and we didn't want someone else in the cottage during the pandemic) and arranged for new linen to be sent - these were brand new bought directly from Tesco that evening. Unfortunately the size was not correct so we ended up having to wash the linen in the washing machine ourselves and sleeping on our own towels for the first night. If it wasn't for the cleanliness issue on arrival we would recommend this cottage. Once cleaned the place was comfortable and a good base for exploring Beaumaris and Anglesey but we have serious concerns about the adequacy of cleaning between guests.

      Second time renting this cottage.

Well laid out but although there was plenty of hanging room in the wardrobe we found small clothes storage a bit lacking, as only one bedside table/drawer. Should have been enough room for another, or some accessible shelves in the wardrobe. Electric oven was switched off (probably for safety reasons) so we had to ring for support to get it started. Perhaps an extra and clearer instruction needs to be written as we didn't find a clear answer in the leaflet. Also the microwave, which we couldn't use, needs extra info for electronically-challenged users without an electrical engineering degree. The plastic-handled knives and forks are getting old and handles loose to use. Plenty of different-size drinking glasses, but maybe could do with a couple of new cereal dishes, some of those available are too shallow to use without losing some of your cornflakes and milk on the table or floor. Heating works well, just dial up/down the wall thermostat. Sofa was plush, but too soft for us and the seat cushion too long for shorter people. Definitely need to get out walking to straighten the body up. Conclusion: really very good but some minor improvements could be made.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay.

This is our third visit to Tyn Towyn and we love the proximity to the beach etc. The welcome pack of milk, coffee, prosecco, welsh cakes is a nice touch. The cottage is small but a perfect size for 2 people. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed as we ate out quite a bit. In comparison to the other properties Bwthyn Haf felt a bit dark (probably because of the small windows especially the lounge). The lounge dining area lacks character and as stated in other review the sofa is not the most comfortable. I am not sure that a sofa bed is the best option as the lounge area is small and with the only bathroom being off the bedroom would make having additional guests tricky. We would return to Tyn Towyn but feel the prices this summer were too high and hope they will be more realistic going forward. The feedback book in the cottage ran out of space in 2019 so does need replacing.

The property location is ideal, situated in the centre of the town close to all amenities.

The streets around the property are quite narrow and so street parking at the location can be difficult. However, there is ample parking within 400 yards on the seafront at the Green. The current cost is £25 for a week + a refundable £10 at the end of your stay. This is recommended as the easiest solution. The actual property is well maintained and includes all necessary facilities. It is clean and comfortable. The local baker's shop is 20 yards away and is very well stocked. Try the sourdough bread as it is delicious. There is a general waste bin in the back and enclosed courtyard but there was no sign of any recycling bins. The owner should advise what to do in this case as we could not find any details in the file on the dining room table. Overall, this property can be highly recommended.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable week in the caravan.

It was the first time I’ve stayed in a caravan and not had to go shopping as soon as I arrived for things like toilet roll as everything we needed was there. The owners, especially Fiona, are very friendly and helpful. The nearest beach was a 25 minute stroll away, was safe to swim at and had good facilities. There are 2 houses either side of the van but you can’t even see one of them and there is a sea view and views of the farm directly in front. The little tea room/ gift shop at the end of the road is also worth a visit for the home made chocolate cake! We found plenty to do, both on the island and on the mainland, whatever the weather did. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone. Thanks to the lovely family who own it.
