    • Laura - Verified booking

What a lovely cottage in a great location.

Croft Cottage was wonderfully well equipped with everything you could need. It had a real ‘home from home’ feel about it and the dogs clearly felt at home. Nice welcome packs too and tea, coffee, sugar canisters filled. Also toilet rolls, kitchen roll, cleaning products all there. Beds were extremely comfortable, everything worked as it should with lots of nice little touches in the house. Well situated for the 3 Peaks which we did over 3 days with the dogs - was the hottest week of the year! Malham Cove also worth a visit. Loved the market town of Settle and driving through the Dales. Long Preston itself was a nice little village - 2 pubs which let dogs in - in fact nearly all the pubs around that area are dog-friendly. People very nice too. A fantastic little cottage - an all round fab holiday. Just one thing to bear in mind the A65 which runs through the village can be very busy and the traffic noise was noticeable but probably just because we aren’t used to it.

Agreeing with all that has been said before the location and facilities of this Craven Cottage has been first class. I cant believe its only 3 stars we are certainly going to book again. We had a great week using a North West rover on the railway and also sampling various bus routes. The Saturday bus to Harrogate and the Sunday bus from Grassington to Hawes were particularly scenic and interesting. We mostly catered for ourselves but would recommend Bizzy Lizzies for fish and chips. Skipton has many bakers shops that you are spoilt for choice but pastries from Thomas's were very good. As for doing your washing try the Express Laundromat on Sackville Street a seven minute walk away and the staff were very helpful , they give change for the machines and you can buy soap there. WE hope you will enjoy your stay in this delightful cottage as we did

      Property was as described.

Kitchen was well equipped with everything working and in good order. Lounge was comfortable and the tv had Freeview which is always useful to have. The bed in the main bedroom was super comfortable and there was plenty of space for clothes storage. Shower in the bathroom was easy to operate and nice and hot. We have 2 dogs, so it was good that the back garden area was fenced off (though bigger dogs might be able to leap over it). There are 2 parking spaces and once we arrived we didn’t use the car until we went home, as the rail station is about 3 minutes walk away, and there are buses in the village centre about a 4 minute walk away. The owner left us a small basket which included wine, bread, milk, cake, shortbread and treats for the dogs ! We would definitely stay there again.

We would highly recommend the property. The location is great for people with or without a car. Skipton is a town with lots to see close by or as we did drive further afield to visit other places. We visited York, Harrogate, Ullswater, Hawes, Ingleton, Bolton Abbey, Hebden Bridge, Ripon, Malham, Aysgarth Falls, Ilkley Moor and many other places. We also love having so much in Skipton on the doorstep so if you don’t drive it is a lovely town to walk around with interesting shops etc. The cottage is right in the heart of the town which is great when you want to pop out for a quick look at the market etc before going out for the day. The cottage is also very well looked after, very clean and has good facilities. We have stayed twice now and will hopefully return soon.

Our original booking was cancelled due to COVID-19 and we arrived instead for August Bank holiday week.

Easy to find and gain access to the property. Jacque had left 2 welcome hampers, one for us and one for our yellow Labrador, so thank you very much for these they were great to receive. The cottage had everything you could want for a weeks holiday and we didn’t need to buy anything like washing up liquid etc as they were already there so that was fab. We visited many places while staying there and enjoyed Aysgarth and Ingleton waterfalls, Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey, Settle and Skipton. We ate one day at Beck Hall, Secret Garden in Malham Cove and thought it was a lovely setting. Many thanks again.
