What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ben - Verified booking

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Secret Garden.

From the moment we stepped inside, we felt comfortable and relaxed. Everything you could want or need is here. This place is immaculate. All the fixtures and fittings are of very good quality. The furnishings, carpets, curtains, bedding, towels etc feel as though they are brand new, and the decor is as fresh as it could possibly be. We were also impressed with the kitchen facilities, and again, everything we could possibly have needed, was there. The cottage was very well placed in the village of Mithian, and the garden was a lovely place to relax, with the prettiest of views. We would love to come back again, sometime, It was lovely to meet the owners, and to be able to tell them what a fabulous week we'd had. The welcome pack was a nice touch too. Thank you again, Jim and Selina..... From Karen and Ben

Dean and Clare are very accommodating hosts.

They respect your privacy but at the same time they are very approachable and helpful. The location is ideal, especially if you want to explore the south Cornwall coastline from St. Mawes to Par, and there is ample easy parking. The Snug has everything you will need. It includes all the basics, e.g., standard fridge freezer, hair dryer, cooking oil, eggs, semi-skimmed milk, etc. They also include a hamper comprising local produce, e.g., cheddar, savoury and sweet biscuits, butter, wine, chocolate, clotted cream, jam, etc. The bathroom has an excellent easy to use shower with good water pressure and a bath, which was very welcome after our long walks. Upstairs is the lounge with comfy furnishings, TV and a desk. All in all, a superb comfy base for exploring Cornwall. I highly recommend it.

Secret Garden was an ideal holiday home for us, spacious and fully equiped with everything we needed for the week or so we stayed there, and more.

The property is fitted out to a high specification, very comfortable and is located in a lovely peaceful setting, with no traffic noise whatsoever and a lovely terrace to sit out and enjoy the views- all very relaxing. It is well situated for travelling to other parts of the county as we wanted to access several parts of the coastal path and also take a day trip over to the Isles of Scilly from Penzance. The local pub, the Miners Arms, is within easy walking distance an we enjoyd several visits there. Jim and Serena, the hosts, were very warm and welcoming, and a great source of information when asked. All in all quite superb and we highly recommend it.

The Snug is a lovely little gem that made our stay in Cornwall so wonderful.

Compact and ideal for a twosome getaway. The layout is very quirky, with the main seating/relaxing area being upstairs in a loft conversion, and the bedroom being downstairs with an amazing ensuite bathroom attached. The whole place is very well furnished and decorated very nicely indeed. We were welcomed by a very nice hamper of food and wine as well as a few samples of the beer that is brewed in the microbrewery next door. Location wise, it was ideal for all of the places we wanted to visit, not just on the East Coast, but the West Coast too. The owners, Dean and Clare are lovely hosts, and very friendly and helpful. We will certainly visit again soon.

Very comfortable property with the most amazing private garden with gorgeous countryside views.

We drove out every day to a slightly different point and on the coastal path for fantastic walks then had supper outside on the terrace. But the village has a great pub within 5 mins walk if you don't fancy cooking. The apartment has just about everything you could want, better equipped that just about anywhere we have ever stayed. The only addition could potentially be reclining chairs for reading and relaxing in the garden. But that is very picky because the chairs there are plenty comfortable and we enjoyed our post walk cuppa and books in some wonderful sunshine. Would recommend this property and would be very happy to stay again.
